it’s called trying to teach someone about a subject they clearly have no knowledge in, the guy is talking retail prices as in DIRECT from an AUTHORISED DEALER which you can walk into almost any Rolex authorised dealer and you will not be able to get that watch at retail price without either already having a purchase history with them, or buying a few cheaper models first but even then when you do eventually get the chance to buy that watch at retail you are placed on a waiting list that could have you waiting 2-5 years, so your best option of you want that watch there and then is to look on the grey/ secondary market for one and most of not all of the time you will pay slightly more above or a few thousand more above retail the only watches I’ve seen go less than retail on the grey market is generally the oyster perpetual 36mm watches, those go for around 4k retail I can find them for around 3-3.5k, but that’s mainly because these watches are generally always available to buy straight away from an authorised dealer this guy clearly doesn’t understand why you usually pay over retail when buying from secondary market watch dealers, and he clearly doesn’t understand how an authorised dealer works
@@roybatty6368 I mean personally I have no idea but unfortunately for Tudor while they are decent watches unlike their let’s say there more prestigious sister company (that being Rolex of course) their modern pieces don’t hold their value as much as their vintage pieces, I mean you can buy a vintage Tudor oyster price day-date for around 2k at the lowest keep if for two years and you can sell if for pretty much exactly what you paid if you have its box and papers that is, I mean a friend of mine bought a modern Tudor the one with the integrated bracelet with date and day function (I can’t remember the model) for I believe just over 3k when he sold it he only got £2,250 back and that was a 2020 model so in four years it lost just over a grand of value yet the Rolex his dad bought him which cost 5k retail now sells for over 10 grand

People that do not know the game, always think that everyone is trying to take them to the cleaners. Some people get rinsed on certain watches for sure but like everything else; buyer beware. Do your homework before you show up to negotiate for your watch or just buy online from a certified retailer. Where you will have some recourse if the watch is not as advertised.
The Everest watches aren't worth a penny over their normal market price There's already been countless numbers of watches that have been up and down Everest and a countless number will do so in the future. What makes these two any more special than any other? Anyone who falls for this must be oxygen starved themselves.
This man doesn’t have an AD connection or he would have already been able to buy that GMT at MSRP! PS I have a spend history with a great AD in Scottsdale, AZ. History isn’t just Rolex also a diamond ring in the $30K+ range. If you will buy a GMT or Sub from me for over retail I’d be tempted find out if I am right in my ability to get one. I’ve already bought Rolex from them they’re great to work with no BS. They didn’t require the ring purchase I kept it all in one store for my future relationship w/the AD.

As a vet in sales. You are burning brain cells with a client like this. They are always expecting to get screwed and they always think no matter the deal that you are making money. The ONLY way this convo can be productive is over the phone with tonality etc. via text is a total waste of your time and potentially costs you other sales. If the client doesn't like the trade value, suggest him to sell the watch to someone. Tell him that the prices of the Sub and Batman are based on supply and demand and you can't match the retail price on these models due to the high demand. Don't nag him with offers (14/15k) for a watch he doesn't have or can get a hold of.

You might not be happy with the value I’m giving you for your watch but I’m giving you the opportunity on 7/8k profit easy. I was watching videos recently of people trying to trade their watches for cars and one guy said his iced out Cartier was worth $40k in which I couldn't stop laughing then another guy tried to trade 3 nice gold Rolex's and said their value was like $230k but in reality was worth $150k but people just have no clue what their watches are actually worth and don't realize how much prices are dropping but want 2020 prices.
With regards the explorer, you could buy the watch and climb everest yourself for less money if you were bothered about it. Why would anyone pay so much for someone else to do it?

It’s not worth it otherwise, hundreds of people a year climb Everest, it’s still a cool personal achievement but doesn’t really make you oooh and ahh like it once did. Doesn’t increase the watches value imo. I wore my G-Shock when I climbed Kilimanjaro wanna give me 15K for it? I’m not a famous explorer but it’s been to the top.
that tudor story is hard to believe. Firstly, if you realized it's the wrong adress you call ups to stop the delivery. If it's schedueled for next day delivery then that means it'll be sitting in a sorting facility over night and the worker will have time to pull the package before it gets loaded into the vans. Second, if it does get delivered and someone signed for it and saw the name doesn't match they'd either return the package or open it. Third, I've never seen a poliece station work so efficiently wehre you call them up and the'll strat the investigation and have the package returned to you within the same day? It'll take them time to find the landlord and have him open the door to find the package and if you've already tried contacting the guy with no luck the police will somehow magically get him to race over and open the door?

I've been both sides of this interaction in sales; the client pissed off by what i perceived to be lowball offers (rightly or wrongly) and I've been the salesman still trying to do the deal. What Alex will learn is there was never a deal to do with someone like this, and hopefully what the client realises is that if you're going to offer items to a retail business that they will offer low numbers to ensure a profit on the back end.
