- The Manitoulin was built in 1991 and is a self discharging bulk carrier sailing under the Flag of Canada. It is 202 meters long and 23 meters wide. Although it had rained hard we were not going to miss the opportunity to catch the Manitoulin. WE stood in the rain while it lightninged and thundered but didn't even think of taking cover!
I lived on Lake Michigan several years and love the great lakes!
I lived on Lake Huron in Lexington but had to go to Port Huron to get this close tof the ships!
Nice view of the Manitoulin coming in to the Duluth Harbour. Cool horn salute. Good video Nancy.
Very cool------thanks
That was pretty cool.
3:04 Always a thrill to hear the ship and the bridge exchange their salute!
Choo choo o wait Popeye the sailor man 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🚢🛳️🛳️🚢🛥️🚤⛴️⛵🛶
More wonderfully crafted pieces of Steel utilized as a bridge and as a Laker. In an article several years ago they made mention how the horn had been replaced on the bridge but it wasn't liked and thr old one was put back in again
Love the lakers and Mississippi River barge tows as much as trains. Great video, liked it much. Thanks Nancy!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome Nancy
THanks Gary!
Nice catch of the Manitoulin Nancy

Amazing how thunder carries over water.
Hearing it with head phones was amazing!
@@nancyhaun yeah, ear buds surprise me with their fidelity, but headphones are still my preference.

Guess we'll be staying in Skanee!😄
I've seen a few other channels on TH-cam, who are here daily. Lots to see. All year round. Thanks for the video.
Yup if you live there it's non stop action! WE live seven hours away unfortunately!
Does anyone know the significance of the indian head insignia on the aft tower? Also, do ship horns have a code similar to what trains use?
Fantastic one of these summers I need to get down there
So much action all the time you would never be bored in Duluth!
Tolles Video von Schiff und Meer
THanks !!
This is an awesome video of the Manitoulin arriving at Duluth, Minnesota to pick up a load of taconite pellets to a Great Lakes port where the taconite will be off loaded at a steel plant. The lowering of the lift bridge was a bonus. (Posted 24 July 2024 at 2133 CDT.)
