I'm just getting back into sword arts after a very long hiatus and I'm glad I found this. One might have to sift through a lot of faulty information and instruction on the internet; like in days past where all we really had were martial arts magazines. But, these kinds of gems make the pursuit worth it! I'm saving this one.

Really glad to have found your videos. I have always been interested in learning kendo and recently got something to begin practicing at home with. Im currently overweight and find that motivation to move and lose weight is hard to find so im hoping that practicing your teachings at home in my backyard will help me lose weight and perhaps one day join a dojo to truly hone my skills in this art. Amazingly clear and detailed teachings like yours really are what help keep the art alive and keep bringing in new people such as myself to learn it.

I especially appreciate how you explain the basics from the position (point of view) of _the sword_ (katana) using the bokuto as what _it should represent_ (a blade) and not see everything from the shinai stand.

Sensai, First of all I would like to thank you for this insightful video. I have only watched it once after searching for Kata techniques that I can practice at home. I have only been doing Kendo for 3 weeks and I am obviously getting used to the basics. My Dojo is only open for practice once per week and I really want to invest more time into technique. I have been told that to improve my technique, I must concentrate on Kata. I know that 2 people are needed for correct Kata but the techniques in this video are a great start for me. I have subscribed to your channel and will be watching more of your work and of course putting it into action.
