I usually prefer to provide positive content, but this video needed to be made. These aren't the ONLY system integrators you need to watch out for, but there are three good examples. The third segment takes up most of the video, and the story is WILD. Enjoy!
(Sorry the Lyte portion of the video is so long, but there was a LOT to unpack. I felt you all deserved to know the full story.)

I have picked out all the parts for my closer acquaintances and built them a nice system catering to their needs for a 10% fee. I would probably do it for free if I was just giving adivce over the phone/facetime, but I feel like there is too much planning and work that goes into building a custom computer like that to just do it for free... Sometimes I do question if it is just something people with expertise do for their closer acquaintances.. Makes me feel sort of cheap.
Then again, they are still getting something no company could ever offer them anyway for a reasonable price.

What did you go with? I built a pc with some 'just DIY bro' friends when the ps pro released. I don't regret it because the fireworks that rendered from its rear were beautiful. Thank god I had pc savvy friends who went from 'It's your lucky day, PSU is the easiest thing to replace man' to 'just build a pc bro'.
PCs are more trouble than anyone lets on. Even with a prebuilt, you're going to have to get your hands dirty. They're all built to last through the warranty be it a month or year. Mine arrived running 90C which I had to look up to find out how hot it was. It took 3wks before I played the first game unless you count MSI afterburner, cinebench, heaven, 3dmark, h2jdndj, prime95, and some other sht. Those are the only games a true pc gamer needs. I still can't turn off those omg lights because the motherboard's software was full of bloat so I didn't download it. I hope you grabbed a needle in a haystack but I honestly couldn't recommend pc gaming to anyone who isn't already into it unless you have a lot of time, money, and enjoy spending more time in the settings than the game.

I bought a PC from Lyte in February and the experience was less than ideal but not nearly as bad as some of the people highlighted in the video.
The build time on the system I bought was originally posted as 10 days. After 3 weeks I still did not receive my PC but, was able to secure the gpu I wanted in the system through another retailer. I changed my order to “ship system without GPU” which states the system would ship immediately. After another 3 weeks of emails back and forth I finally did end up getting my PC without the GPU.
I came to find that the system was built in a completely different case than the one I had ordered. I was not made aware of this prior to receiving the order. The case I received was totally different aesthetically and had a completely different footprint then the one I was supposed to receive.
Also, the case they built my system in did not accommodate the extra fans I purchased that would have been totally compatible had I been sent the correct case.
They eventually did make it right after another prolonged back and forth through email by sending me the correct case. With that being said I had to tear down my system completely. I then had to rebuild the entire computer, and send back the incorrect case they had sent. All within 10 days, having never built a PC before. If I didn’t, they would charge me for both cases.
In hindsight it worked out better for me. I now know how to build a custom PC from the ground up and tear it back down. I have more knowledge about PC building in general than I would have otherwise. That doesn’t change the fact however that the overall experience with Lyte was unsatisfactory and I would not recommend them at all.

@@Colea1010 The rtx 3060 isn't a particularly impressive desktop gpu to start with though. And it's not just the gpu. Laptop cpus are really bad compared to desktop ones. The ram speed and latency is worse too. There just isn't enough power envelope and cooling capacity. Maybe some of the extreme laptops, like the alienware m17 with massive heatsinks and power bricks can be closer. But a desktop with an overclocked 8700k, good ram, and a 1080ti will still wipe the floor with any laptop. The laptop is arguably more IMPRESSIVE though given the size. But especially now with how tech is progressing.. companies are just pulling more power to get better performance. That's just going to increase the gap between desktops and laptops even more. 600w gpus are coming. And laptops aren't going to get any better because currently it's power/heat/battery limited. We need more efficient chips for laptops to become comparable to desktops. Apple's m1 chip is one of those.. you just can't game on those.

As a person who once owned a PC Building/repair store, (until my business partner passed away) This company Lyte Gaming is a travesty to the PC building community and a joke and should be closed down immediately due to their incompetence and thievery.
I to this day still build PC's as a hobby. I build and sell at my leisure and if someone approaches me to build them a custom build, water loop, etc. I charge them what it cost me + 200 for build time, cable management and testing. Do I make much? No. I'm not in it for money. I get paid in the enjoyment that the customer will have. That is how I ran my business, that is how I would be running my business to this day if my business partner was still here, and it is a main reason why we were successful in what we did. We weren't big by any means as we were just local and only 2 people but we made it all work, we met all deadlines and to this day only had one customer come back to us needing a warranty replacement which was handled same day.
I am not saying all pre-builts or DIY/building companies are ripoffs but if someone comes up to me asking questions about pre-builts, I will ask them their budget and build them something better. Pre-builts imo were never better than building your own. If anyone goes to walmart or best buy and is looking at prebuilts, i will offer to build them one better than what they would even think to buy for the price range they were looking at.
Companies like Lyte Gaming are a disgrace. Simply put.

They don't even care, I was expecting something like “we’re sorry for the inconvenience, how bout we throw in a free “so and so” upgrade for the hassle? Something! But no they want me to pay for the packing material they forgot to pack and drive over an hour away with today's gas prices to return it. What a joke!

A lot of places already had wait times of 2-3 months for custom builds. Sky Tech had the best prebuild I saw at the time (not needing upgrades out of the box) and IN STOCK. Shipped same day I ordered it and other than getting stuck in the Texas blizzard for a week arrived well packed. Running almost (dang) two years now, without a glitch. 3080-3700X rig in a Neo Air case.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie I watched your video (along with others) on Lyte. I realize they weren't necessarily reviews, but the overall vibe I got from the various research I had done was very positive. I bought a DIY kit from them for 2k+. I knew I was taking a risk choosing this company opposed to a more established one. I like the idea of supporting smaller companies (the underdogs, if you will) and I had no reason to believe that I would get an inferior product. My PC took months to arrive and even more months to build because I had been given different parts. They gave me a different case which I had to break parts off to fit and wire everything. They gave me a Lyte Gaming brand AIO (a lesser part for which I received no refund) that did not work. After weeks of back and forth, they agreed to upgrade my AIO to a 240mm for free. This would have been nice, except it doesn't fit in my case without jerry rigging (very ugly). Tech support and customer service were very unresponsive and unhelpful. Luckily, my uncle has been building PCs for nearly 30 years and was able to help. He even admitted this pc build was the most frustrating he's had in years. Overall, I'm not terribly upset about the performance of the machine, but the build is hideous, it was a HUGE pain in my rear, and I definitely feel like I overpaid and was taken advantage of. In the future, I'd definitely use some online part-matcher or buy an NZXT build kit.

Hey just found your channel I watch a lot of tech videos to keep up with new components and technology in the PC world. I have been working with computers since the Win98 days, I bought my first computer from a small shop in my town, K62, 512 megs ram, AGP video, and every since I have built my own. I will do the research on the components I want to use, reviews, value, quality and price to get the best system to put together at the time, as things in the component world are always in flux, new today, old tomorrow. I have seen these companies that "build" you a custom PC and often wondered if they were as good as their advertising. Some of these companies seem to "prey" on people who want a good gaming system but have very little knowledge of the PC itself or the components therein.Alot of the components in these machines are subpar lower performing parts, with weak power supplies and schechy builds, and if the buyer wants better components the price really goes up, personally I think is a, for better terms, is a ripoff, as the price of new parts is coming down even for the higher price components. I wish that people that buy these systems would do some research before buying, and that's why I build my own. The whole industry is geared to make money and some are scammers that will sell you their Grandmothers if she fits a PCIE slot. will be watching your channel more, like honest evaluations.

I bought an iBuyPower iseries 504 gaming PC like 6 years ago and it has been a solid ass computer for around $900 USD. My computer recently shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Frustrated and low on funds, I really didn't want to take somewhere to get fixed when I can do it myself. Did some digging and found out it was my power supply, I even learned how to jump start it, but mine was dead. I went and bought a 700W power supply (old one was 600W), took it apart then put it back together and "Bingo" it turned on and went ahead and did some deep cleaning beforehand, but it was very fulfilling to get the part and do it myself. I spent $70 on a power supply after about a week (few hours a day) of the computer shut off instead of $200-$300 for the place to fix it. I'm definitely just going to start buying parts from here on out, but this iBuyPower has been great for me thankfully!

But I really appreciate that you're willing to put this critical content out there to your audience warning them of shady practices. These are very expensive items these companies sell and I imagine the business attracts fraudsters who really just want to do the minimum and make exorbitant amounts of money for it. I can tell you care about your subscribers. The other thing I'd note is that you need a good lawyer who specializes in Intellectual Property law who will protect your likeness and brand. If a system integrator is continuing to run ads using your likeness and endorsement, after having acknowledged your withdrawal of consent, that's reprehensible and actionable.

I'm building my 1st gaming PC. After watching your channel, I have more confidence in doing so. I see the importance of reading and understanding SPECS rather than the model number of the product. I may just start by adding top fans to a prebuild. (Skytech Eclipse). Thank you for all your hard work and reviews. Sorry about your experience with LYTE. Unfortunately there are Donkeys running some companies. Take care B!

Wow, that was an impressive video. This is the first time I've seen you or heard of it, but that practice you're replying to isn't new. So I was curious about whom to stay away from. I've known others who've had to be really detailed when getting back at a Company. That's some really good integrity you have. I'm not going to smash, obliterate, my mouse as so many say you do. I will simply click carefully to Subscribe. Sometimes I find it challenging to know what good hardware goes with something - as you comment that others also do. So I'm interested in your content. I make my down PCs but sometimes the research can be a bit..overwhelming. So, you have a new member.
I'm glad you didn't go silent.
