- Hi, these are the modifications and add ons I made to my leatherman wave black oxide. Works for charge, surge or alx too.
I made this because leatherman wave metal saw is not good for hard metal, so i decided to use T shank type t shape saws. You need the landyar to copy the shape. I have to say that the leatherman multitools are amazing. The precision and quality are great. I use it a lot of times and looks still new. Easy to save in the sheath the saw blade holder and couple of metal saws.
Showing what’s possible with just a Dremel and some files is why I love TH-cam. Sure it’s easier with a CNC milling machine and autocad, but the average person doesn’t have easy access to that technology.

I hope you can make it, It is great for outdoor enviroment or bushcraft and is detachable for indoor.
In this case the precission is very important.

Good job, learned alot from that pin indenting and "pinning". Glad to see your inginuity with the cutting wheel. Don't see alot of people doing that with a dremel nowadays like a full size grinder

When I thought to make this mod I was thinking in metal saw, but obiusly you can attach any blade....wood, ceramic...
Leatherman Wave wood saw is good enough, eats fast with minimal friction.
But the metal saw (one of the edges of file tool) is not efective for hard metal.
So I could cut everithyng with wave, but not metal, thats why I made this.
Now I can cut any metal.
And also Joshua, I use both hands when I cut, tool opened 90 degrees, making back and forward movement and down force too.
The difference is huge.

Since this mod I don't need it.
I know it is a better tool, heavy duty, but when I use it outdoor that's the problem,
heavy backpack.

I made the mistake of holding a flat piece of metal with my free hand while drilling into said metal... I'll never make that mistake again. Learn from my misfortune, & use a proper tool for the job. I was lucky enough to keep my fingers, but fly too close to the sun and eventually you'll get burnt. If that bit binds up your little t shank bit exchanger will become your little meat 🥩 grinder. Stay thirsty my friend!

great Idea!! the only reason I'm thinking about getting a surge over a wave is because of the t shank blade holder, but have been wondering if I could just buy an aftermarket blade holder and install it myself on a wave. seems like the micro screwdriver is kind of a waste of space, and should be a t shank blade holder anyway. I have an original leatherman supertool which is similar size to the surge at 4.5" closed but about the same weight as the wave at nearly 9 ounces, multipul ounces less than a surge which seems like a big difference when it comes to carrying it all day long, 24-7, which is literally how I keep my tools on me. I sleep in my work pants with my most beloved tools still clipped in my pockets, helps me sleep better haha you never know when you need a multitool while you're sleepin lol

The scissors on the surge are far superior than the wave. That alone was why I got the surge
haha i used to sleep with a bit driver i got a long time ago. idk something about it..
it does not fold, you have to stick it in when you use it and take it out when you don't, correct? i wonder if it is possible to make one to fit where the long tools go. maybe to replace the stock saw. sad the wave doesn't have a stock t shank blade exchanger. dreaming up my fantasy multi-tool in my sleep 😴
btw, nice job. i like your mod videos. i'm going to try to merge a leatherman wave and rebar. i want 2 outside-access tools only (not 4, it's excessive for my needs), a slimmer profile, and a frankenstein custom combination of the tools i want (and none of the ones i don't want.)

This mod is for wave or charge, I made it to use nice metal saw with them, surge doesn't need it.

The tool is not modified, it's an add on, so warranty keeps at 25 years, and yes, It's a nice warranty.

@@zZz777 , ты русский?! (Извини за вопрос!) 0:42 нержавейка? А я делаю из латунной пластины 1,5 мм. Надеюсь не сломается. Нержавейку, я думаю, замучаешься надфилями стачивать. Я всё надфилями и ножовкой по металлу работаю. Гравёром не так аккуратно получится. Та сторона, которая в Leatherman Wave вставляется, сточил надфилем до 1 мм. А кольцо я так и не купил, нашёл чертёж с размерами кольца в интернете.
Save all the hastle and buy a Leatherman surge. Bigger and stronger than wave.

I see a LOT of errors, but idea itself is great.
And as I can see, you have no vise, ruler and hacksaw so you have to run dremel 8D
