Amazing thru his illnesses we watched him go from a tall vibrant good lookin guy to a shrunk up little old man & STILL pumping out his Fabulous music. RIP.
He is the GOAT and he is still with us in his music lots of us here have no recording of our lost ones but i can here him when ever i want to. I think ofJohn playing for God and his angels and waiting for his reincarnation Hurry iam 74 mr Canada
John Prine was the best of story tellers. I had the pleasure of seeing him 3 times live. First time I heard of him was in Navy Boot Camp, saw him later in 1977 for the first time. Each was a memory of it's own.
I was introduced to John's music in my early 20's. Being the stupid kid I was my first thought was, this sucks. Reintroduced about 10 years later and I realized what I had been missing. Been a fan of this unbelievably talented artist for the next 40+ plus years.
Saw him live in TN about a year before he passed, literally couldnt listen to a single song without losing it for awhile after he passed. I'll never forget how choked up I got listening to When I Get to Heaven for the first time after he was called home. John is a legend, his music will be loved forever. 🤠 🎸
I don't think anyone else can do it better than John. I just got out of 6 weeks in in the hospital with Covid related lung disease and Johnny and his songs were with me the whole time.
I dedicate this video to my BF Bob Lovelace who sadly died of a heart attack in 2020..He looked just like JP in this video..its uncanny their voices and smiles were th e same ...He loved John Prine too !! .
I started listening to JP in the early 80's and got to see him in Destin, Florida around 1985 in a small venue there, it was something I'll never forget!
I arrived very late late to the John Prine party but he is now one of my go-to artists. Always admired his song writing but have come to appreciate his singing as well. This band is amazing!
I've been listening to him almost exclusively lately. I cry through some of it and I laugh through alot of it. It just depends on my mood and the song of course He was just an everyday guy with a gift for us. I miss him tremendously.
So glad this is released. I’ve had this recorded on VHS in 80. I wrote him in late 90s asked why don’t he release it. I received a signed 8x10 and guitar pick
MAN JOHN PRINE WAS A LIKEABLE GUY YA FELT LIKE YOU KNEW HIM!!! GOOD MAN GONE TO EARLY THANK GOD FOR YOU TUBE!!! HE ALSO SINGS SOME TEAR JERKERS GOD LUV HIM HIS MUSIC WILL LIVE ON IN A GOOD MANY FANS HEART, I KNOW HE WILL LIVE ON IN MINE.. GOD BLESS YOU JOHN PRINE ITS A CRUEL WORLD OUT THERE SOMETIMES YOU KNOW!!! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR AMAZING AWESOME MUSIC,R.I.P!!!
John touched the hearts, minds and funny bones of all his fans. Hearing of his passing was devastating. I’m so very fortunate to have seen him play several times. ❤
A friend in 6th grade played the album Sweet Revenge that her older cousin brought over. We liked Dear Abby best at that age. A few years later i bought the album for myself. 1978.
I love this rockin' performance. I've never heard an artist that moved me like John Prine. I love singer-songwriters but Prine is above and beyond all others. I got to meet him and Fiona in Houston briefly before a show w Todd Snider opening and saw him twice more in San Antonio. Soulful Excellence.
His story about visiting the old folks home with his friend when they were kids to me says everything about the man JP was. After hearing Hello in There for the first time way back when and being moved to tears, I made a point of greeting every elderly person I encountered on my daily walks around my neighborhood.
Been enjoying John's music since the first album when I was in high school. Saw him in New Orleans (West Bank I think it was) around 1981 in a small venue concert raising money for NORML. Timeless humor and pathos.
I have been listening to John Prine since he started..lived where he did and lived what he did and that’s why we always connected and always will be…he’s not dead and never will be…he lives forever ❤
Great artist. Some may find it strange but I much prefer his voice the older he got right up to the last shows. My favorite performance is the one he did at Strombopoulos house, you can find it on TH-cam.
Swear it happened & i think it was Him i met john at Brookfield Zoo on the little train that goes all around, we all just came & ran for the train & we ended up in a seat. Quick enough found out same age, born 6 mos. Apart him in Maywood right there & me across the lake in Michigan. I thought he said his name was John PRIME & only way years later did i put it together & saw him & figured it had been the same kids, birthday matched & where he lived, so ...RIP Buddy!
To make no mention of his obvious songwriting ability, I’ve heard nothing but positive stories about Prine’s empathy and kindness. RIP John, and happy enchilada.
In 1994 my wife and I saw Johnny in Richmond Va. We sat amongst a bunch of crusty older bikers that had just ridden up from Charlotte NC. Sam Stone began to play, and most of the bikers joined arms and sobbed quietly. In minutes, everyone around them joined them by linking up arms with them. It was the most humane thing I had ever seen, still to this day. Boy, we sure miss Johnny.
I have always enjoyed these songs even those I always kind of understood - thinking John somehow plucked some of them out of thin air. This show has been great in helping Me understand His composing a big bunch better 🎼 🎶 🎤🎶🔊 > 🎵 👂😄🦻 👀 Yup❕ G-G.

Love him! Broke my heart I couldn't see him in person before covid struck him down. Don't be stupid. Get your boosters. You now have a choice to make. John didn't. He would have chose life.
Everybody seem to like this guy. I'm just not his audience. I don't care how nice and friendly and hospitable a songwriter is. If a guy is a snake but writes the best songs I'm gonna listen to his songs.
I’m paying my respects to John prime did not no he passed but have to pay my respects
Amazing thru his illnesses we watched him go from a tall vibrant good lookin guy to a shrunk up little old man & STILL pumping out his Fabulous music. RIP.
The throat cancer was brutal on him... but he kept on going
it happens. To many of us.

I loved seeing John in concert many times. It's a shame that damn COVID took him from us. Makes me cry
he was not well prior to them releasing it...

Look up Jesse Welles. He is a modern day John prine, Todd sinder and Steve Goodman wrapped. You can tell John prine was a big influence
Thanks, team, for capturing John so beautifully. What a guy.
This is the day after Phil died. I started watching this…, but I can’t today. At least not now. ❤😢 Much love all y’all

From the first time I heard Souvenirs and had to learn it in my humble 3 chord way.
I've been a John Prine fan since the first time I heard Sam Stone on the radio in the early 70's. His words pop up in my head all of the time.
I have my dad's VA license plate, or saw one, ,)
J Prine.
I played 4 Prine songs at his funeral.
Genius.
I've been listening to him almost exclusively lately. I cry through some of it and I laugh through alot of it. It just depends on my mood and the song of course He was just an everyday guy with a gift for us. I miss him tremendously.
I went on a listening spree myself sometime after he left us. We still have his music and always will. I am thankful for that.
What an incredible songwriter and singer. He is so real and genuine 💜
Why doesn't this video have more likes?!?
This is one of the very best John Prine videos!!
Thank you for taking the time to post this!
I was thinking the same, but I believe it's because it's only been posted for 4 months.
Thanks for your sharing this great music legend ronrdzl

Some somehow missed this phase of John's carreer - which, in retrospect now, is entirely admirable.
His story about visiting the old folks home with his friend when they were kids to me says everything about the man JP was. After hearing Hello in There for the first time way back when and being moved to tears, I made a point of greeting every elderly person I encountered on my daily walks around my neighborhood.
Like how he did his song
Been enjoying John's music since the first album when I was in high school. Saw him in New Orleans (West Bank I think it was) around 1981 in a small venue concert raising money for NORML. Timeless humor and pathos.

After all these years, Bruised Orange still sends shivers down my spine.

Nice that you can use chapters to find your favorite title. I love Three Rivers 😅
Watching Johnny shred 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for uploading this John. This band is amazing. Does anybody know the members? It’s probably in the comments already, but I’m lazy :-)

Anyone know where this was performed? I seen Prine in 1980 and I'm curious if this was the show.
WTTW television studio in Chicago, google that
Reminds me of Dylan going electric in a strange way, rest in peace mr prine
I think he blows Dylan away by far.
