Uzbekistan had been a dream destination for me since my childhood. As a Sunni Muslim influenced by Mughal rule, Uzbek history and food culture have always held a special place in my heart. Finally, last year, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the country, and it exceeded all my expectations. The warmth of the people and the exquisite food left me in awe. Exploring Tashkent, Khiva, Bukhara, and Samarkand was a remarkable experience, though I wish I had more time. I highly recommend adding Fergana Valley to your itinerary for its breathtaking mountain views. I still can't believe how fortunate I was to make this journey.
I just discovered that my great great great grandmother is from Uzbekistan and her husband was of turkic Afghan origin, would love to do more research on both of them.
