    What temperature does the drum reach when set on high for an extended run? Can you measure it with an infrared thermometer? Maybe just open the door before it's done when it's warmest and point the thermometer at the clothes to get a reading. You could also measure the exhaust vent temp just out of curiousity. It might be good to know what's normal so you know when it isn't.

    Hi. Excellent video. Finally someone made a video of how to exactly maintain a dryer and clean the filters. I wish alot of people who has a portable dryer sees this important video so they'll learn on how to maintain and clean the dryer inside and outside. Have you done a video on how to maintain a portable washer??? If you haven't it would be a wonderful idea to do it. Thanks alot

    I love mine. I have a different model but pretty much the same. I usually put everything on 1 1/2 hours. I now use dryer sheets instead of fabric softener. It cut down drying time by 30 minutes. The liquid softener coats your clothes for those who dont know. My bath towels-4 at a time, are pretty thick and dry fine in 1 1/2 hours.

    Thank you, my 4 year old panda dryer has been having issues lately. When i turn it on it stays on for 2 - 3 minutes then it turns off. I click on the on button or any of the other buttons but nothing happens. After leaving it that way in 15- 20 minutes later it would turn on and go through the same thing over again. I replaced the filters and the main one was covered in lint. It has been 3 - 4 months since I replaced it and I use the dryer about 4 - 6 times per month. I then took the back cover off and there was lint covering the motherboard and floor. I cleaned it but I also saw that the belt was broken. I got two from ebay hopefully next week i will get them and replace it. I hope this will fix the dryer I don't want to spent another 250- 300 dollars. has this ever happened to anyone ?

    These dryers are amazing, mine is about 9 years old. Over time (maybe 4 or 6 years) the blower fan will become hard to turn. It will require grease on the brass bushing. The blower fan was not turning easily and had a little wear on the steel shaft/brass bushing bearing surface. It is not hard to disassemble and lube. Use a high quality grease, automotive type should work fine. Don't use oil or WD-40 because it won't last.

Other TH-cam review videos never even showed that 2nd filter or used it. Thank you for this video! I used it for disassembly instructions for my Magic Chef 2.6 cu ft. dryer, which apparently uses all the same major parts and panels. I suspected that my blower belt had broken, and sure enough, it has! Thanks to you, I knew to look for and remove lint accumulations, which I will add to my annual maintenance schedule. Indeed, the two filters are important! But they're not catch-alls.
    Also thanks to your video, I confirmed that the felt collar at the back of the drum should be out all around: several inches of my unit's was tucked in (sucked in?) toward the drum in diametrically opposing areas, making it seem plausible that that's by design. It isn't! So if you have any advice about how to avoid that happening again, then I'd appreciate knowing it!

      My Panda dryer only two years old..same thing. I'm more than frustrated and frankly furious. Very few appliance repair people will work on portable dryers and appliances...plus paying over $300+ for this dryer and it barely hit the two years mark let alone the 5-10 year lifespan the company contends. I'm a senior.. live alone..do laundry twice a month. Cleaned both filters faithfully every single load. Didn't overload the dryer...well aware of its limited capacity. I've spent all day searching for solutions to fix it myself if I can.. if not, I'll have to let it go. Will I buy this brand again? NO.

    Glad I came across this!! I have a similar dryer (different brand but almost exact same thing). I've had it for about 5 years and love it, but more and more often recently, the damn lint filter kept falling off during a cycle. Every 5 minutes or so until I got it secured in a sweet spot and it stayed on. It's been super annoying. However!! Your video brought to light the fact that I've had the filter installed wrong this entire time!! I swear when I got the dryer, the fabric (disposable / replaceable) filter was *inside* the two plastic pieces. The one I yours is exactly the same as the one in mine. Mine doesn't snap together the way yours does, but I'm wondering if it's supposed to. I just got out the manual for the dryer and sure enough, it seems to depict the order of installation the way you showed and not the way I've had it. The diagram is kinda unclear but looking at it the way you have it vs. how I had it your way makes more sense. I just popped it out (and vacuumed the filter - brilliant BTW, also hadn't even thought of that!), reinstalled it the *right* way and the next time I dry a load I'm hoping it'll not fall off again. Thanks so much for this!!

    Thank you so much for the video! I recently bought a different brand of compact dryer, and it is very similar in many ways. However, I decided to try the indoor vent kit because I don’t have a good place to vent it to a window yet. So, I decided to see how it goes with the vent kit for occasional use. I don’t let it sit right next to a wall or something. If I have the AC on, I’m sure it will suck some of the moisture away. However, even the instructions say to vent it outdoors as much as possible. I found out a trick to speed up the drying time of your clothes. After I wash a small load of clothes in the portable washer, which has a 800 RPM spin cycle, I give it an extra spin in a panda 3200 RPM spin dryer. Then, I put it in the compact dryer, and it cuts the drying time in half! I highly suggest you get one of the pandas 3200 RPM spin dryer. I’m going to do a video with it myself. It is the best thing to increase efficiency and lower drying time. In fact, before I got the portable washer and compact dryer, I was washing my clothes by hand and when I use the Panda spin dryer, I would hang my clothes up with a fan in the bathroom and they were dry in one hour. It’s amazing. I highly recommend it. It’s worth it. I hope it last many years, though. Thank you again for the video, because this magic chef compact dryer I have uses the exact style filter in the back of the drum and if I have a problem I’ll know what I can try to do to help it. It’s really important to clean it after every single load. Cheers!

      Deanna Walsh , you’re supposed to vent any dryer outside not because of extra moisture, but because of tiny lint particles that escape through the vent and settle in the room. there’re a huge fire hazard, not to mention your health, since you’re breathing them in

    • @DeannaWalsh
      @DeannaWalsh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VacTech1 Yes it will spin larger items like towels and jeans. However, it’s best to put heaviest items on the bottom, lighter in the middle and a solid item ( like a towel) on the top, while filling the chamber al least 2/3 full. I had spinned-drained bath towels and a pretty heavy bath rug. I kind of put them in like a little bit at a time and curl it around so it will spin that way. But it’s really important to put in enough items to balance it. Don’t overfill it but make sure it is balanced. The instructions say to layer clothes in a folding manner. It also instructs to make sure it is full, if you can. I usually put a shirt or something on the bottom then the socks and other items and then larger items on top of that. Kind of a sandwich and I press around just to make sure everything seems evenly distributed by weight.

    Wow, so I guess this is what my problem is? I bought my Magic Chef portable dryer second hand, and it didn't have those disposable felt lint catchers. I didn't even realize they were missing until I watched enough videos! About 2 weeks ago my dryer just stopped dead with no warning, so I've been going down a rabbithole to figure it out. I now have the whole back off and I'm about to remove every shred of lint I see. I already see the rounded felt part is caked in lint, with more lint as I spin the wheel 😖
    Edit: so I think I cleaned out all the lint I could access around the felt and in the plastic wheel, but when plugged in, it still does not turn on at all. I don't want to give up yet, but I'm not sure what else to do.

I came across it because I have this exact dryer, which is a beloved member of our household, and it suddenly made some terrible groaning/clacking noises today, then got very quiet, rotated a few more times then just stopped. I am scared, as we use this appliance almost every day! We opened up the back and saw that indeed the belt has broken so I Amazon Prime ordered a new belt for delivery tomorrow...we will do a thorough cleaning as well when we change it but TBH we have meticulously cleaned the filters the entire 4 years of owning this machine and even the exhaust vent didn't have too much lint. I'm hoping for the best but there aren't really any good videos on how to actually change the belt so I hope it's fairly intuitive. Thanks for this preview of what's inside!
