Just had a uncle that just died from addiction and I decided to do my research cause o couldn’t understand why would someone destroy themselves over dope. 😢
Marilyn Monroe was a trailblazer in Hollywood and in recovery. She joined AA in the 1950s, a time when addiction was still heavily stigmatized. Marilyn found solace in AA’s principles and was known to carry the Big Book with her everywhere she went. She even sponsored other women in the program! Marilyn’s commitment to sobriety was truly inspiring. 💖
Still died from drug use though 💔
im her 10th cousin twice removed. my current bf has been 15 to almost 16 years sober
I have owned an operated group homes for recovering alcoholics/addicts for 21 years now. Things have changed so much since the beginning. It used to be pain (physical or emotional) followed by personal accountability and work, which were most effective and in an extremely short period of time I might add. But now with treatment centers directing the narrative, recovery has become a game of convincing people that they are victims and not responsible for their behavior. What that does is create an environment where these people need continuous services of one sort or the other, which are just opportunities for billing insurance or state funded programs. It is another form of entitlement programing which swallows itself forever, whilst lining the pockets of these well intentioned but out of touch with reality counselors.
I struggle with alcohol addiction I'm 28 years old and it's hurt me for too many years and it's the one demon that won't leave me alone
Whatever works, works. Go with that.
I'm glad this system works. For too long people have been narcissistic control freaks calling their actions "tough love" to friends and family who are struggling, thinking they know better than professionals. For a lot of narcissists their biggest fear is their punching bag learning they matter and are worth kindness.
And if you are struggling, remember that, you're worth it ❤
I love this. I think this is awesome!!!
The idea of giving money to us addicts as a reward shows a true lack of the inability to think critically att to best and at worst it’s nefarious. I have a disease of the brain and my life is unmanageable! My best thinking is to get high. And you want to give me money?
But it worked though
@@Noah_Banyas no it doesn’t work
While it may work 1/100 times doesn’t mean it works it means it’s a failure
@@marklapalme what is your source
@@Noah_Banyas my source is I’ve treated tens of thousands of us over the last 23 years.
Giving money to an addict is almost always a death certificate. I’ve seen hundreds die with just $10.
Money isn’t motivation to stay sober. If losing their family and life isn’t motivation money is even less. What money is motivation to do is to get high
So then by that logic, whether you give an addict $1 or $10 the addict decides what to do with it. Which is exactly why it can be so helpful to someone like Me who wants to quit but just can't find the right motivation. Maybe something like that would help rather than always being punished for it
How is he still breathing or was he an injector
Just for today
There's something weirdly condescending about this

Let’s stop practicing useless Ideas on people with real life issues
Bro just said “useless idea”, but it shows it worked
well no, thats not how science works. You try out new and novel ideas and you closely monitor the data, and you adjust accordingly.
