- On this special video edition of The King's Hand in History, I interview my brother Jonathan Groves, an assistant pastor of the Anglican church near me, on the life and work of one of the greatest Bible teachers, devotional authors, and Christian leaders of the 1800s -- the Bishop JC Ryle. Ryle was one of the most influential Anglican leaders and writers in Great Britain, as he served as a stalwart fighter against Christian liberalism and the religious hypocrisy of Victorian society. He published a multitude of excellent devotional writings, such as Thoughts for Young Men, A Call to Prayer, and Holiness. In this interview, we'll give an overview of Ryle's life, his works and thought, and his influence on people both during his day, and in our own.
"Jonathan is the Assistant Rector at Good Shepherd [Anglican Church of Binghamton, NY]. He grew up in Dallas, TX, received his B.A. in Biblical Studies from Liberty University, and his M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Before coming on staff at Good Shepherd, he served at Arrowhead Bible Camp. Jonathan assists Matt in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care, he oversees the ministry heads, serves as the youth pastor, and is the program manager of The Cranmer Fellowship - Good Shepherd's pastoral training ministry. In his spare time, he loves reading, running, and spending quality time with Angel and their two young children." (goodshepherdbi...)
