Polscy geniusze nie żyli długo. Gdyby ten Karłowicz żył tyle co Verdi to co by nam napisał jeszcze ?

I. Allegro moderato
II. Romanza: Andante
III. Vivace assai

An excellent violin concerto succsssfully written in a postromantic language. The writing of the violin is of coutse quite idiomatic as in each great concero and is fully efficient. The orchesreation is also awesome: we can hear the tunes of the flutes, of the horns, of the trmobones, quite distinctly at criticall moments.
Qué hermoso concierto. Y qué extraordinaria ejecución. Bravo!!!

Have just listened to Nigel Kennedy playing this concerto. It is excellent, but this performance is wonderful, and I prefer it. Such insight and sensitivity!
Najlepsze nagranie Koncertu Karłowicza jakie znam. Kulki nikt nie pobije.
Nagranie z Kają Danczowską w roli solistki jest porównywalne. Niestety jest tylko w formie pociętej na kilka części. Czasami można jednak wysłuchać w radiowej dwójce.
Jest jeszcze piękne wykonanie Wandy Wiłkomirskiej. A Pana KAK słyszałem w FN gdy wykonywał ten koncert. Miód na uszy.

My loss that I had not heard composer or performer sooner!
Why a major 20th century violinist never championed this piece is beyond me. It has everything you want in a violin concerto.

Konstanty Andrzej Kulka IS a major violinist. He should be much more famous.

Przepiękny koncert.
Kiedyś Waldorff próbował między innymi muzykę Karłowicza upowszechniać, dzisiaj już chyba nie ma komu się tym zajmować.
Warto jeszcze dodać, że nagranie z 1999 r z Filharmonii w Warszawie.
Skrzypce Konstanty Kulka, dyryguje Mieczysław Kord.
Powstało też nagranie płytowe (2001 r.) z udziałem tych wykonawców co tutaj.
Kazimierz Kord. Reszta zgadza się.

@@skafanderpoleca8357 istniało też nagranie z Rowickim bodajże, Polskich Nagrań, jakaś składanka, po drugiej stronie LP była chyba Błękitna Rapsodia, z lat chyba osiemdziesiątych? miałem coś takiego, spróbuję poszperać w szafach na strychu
Piękna muzyka, a Karłowicz chyba trochę zapomniany.
A może za trudny, wiec na wszelki wypadek zapomniany. Piękne!
Chyba wlasnie przestaje byc zapomniany. Slyszalem go w radiu Meksykanskim.
Pamiętam z lat młodzieńczych dużo wcześniejsze wykonanie, chyba od dyrekcją Rowickiego, czy istnieje gdzieś w internecie? Płytę zajechałem do wykończenia :-))
MAESTRO!!, MEGA SUPER!!... szczególnie trzecia część, błyskotliwa i świeża jak wiosenny deszczyk w słońcu...
Superb concerto and composer! Thanks for making this available - after hearing the Karlowicz Violin concerto, I've listened to a number of his other works. We should hear more of him!

Wspaniałe wykonanie, najlepsze z tych jakie dotąd słyszałem (Wiłkomirska, Kennedy, Nizioł). Ciekawi mnie jak ten koncert zagra Alena Baeva - gra w sierpniu w Warszawie!
Ein lyrische Kadenz und virtuoses Stuck im Anfang. Sehr schoenes Motive und Melodik die lebhaft kontrasiteiren mit dem Orchestra.

En wij maar naar de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd in Brussel luisteren: Bruch, Tsjaikowsky, Brahms, Mendelssohn, ohne end!

co tu się rozpisywać.

This is a sweet concerto with poignant themes, some of which sound as though they could have originated from folk tunes.
Yes, specifically, Góral violin music. The Tatra Mountains is where Karłowicz left his heart, and life.

I Have just read an astonishing comment from David Alexander Rahbee. This violinist IS a major 20th century artist championing this great concerto! Nigel Kennedy has also performed it.
Perhaps I should have been more specific. Heifetz, Milstein, Oistrakh, Menuhin, Stern, etc, the generation of violinists who recorded all of the "major" concerti and played them all over never championed it. No disrespect to Kukla, Kennedy or others who play this piece brilliantly. I think the piece would have gained much more traction if a violinist of that generation had recorded it on a major label, played it with famous orchestras & conductors and toured with it, etc. It is still unfamiliar to many violinists and musicians in general.

very nice music, pleasant to listen to, but it makes you appreciate the difference between music like this and the great masterworks like Brahms, Mendelssohn, etc.
Yes it’s a nice concerto but a bit awkward sounding especially for the violin. Some of the passages sound like a person wrote them on Sibelius without consulting an actual violinist lol
