I was able to observe this in Zeebrugge in 1982-83. The trucks had to drive backwards up the loading ramp into the ship. However, it was possible to let the semitrailer or trailer drive in from the port trucks.
I only had to go down with the motorcycle. .

Greetings from Switzerland! Thank you for taking us along with you on this exciting trip. I crossed the same path, once, with 20 sled dogs, for a special tour in Lapland. I remember getting the dogs out of my truck, once every few hours, to tell them pee and leave their "business cards" in between other trucks and we would rinse the whole thing with the fire hoses (lol). Gee, that's 30+ years ago :-0 Anyways, great job, thank you for sharing!

4:21 They got a lot of extra harbur trucks there, considering the loads that are in use.
It sure is a busy job, start with a 6 hours pause followed by 30 hours of rest ;)
Why are they going from Travemünde in steed of Putgarten? that should have saved like 5 hours on the ship.
30 hours is a really long time being on a ferry.

This isn’t a basic car ferry, it’s a cruise ferry, swimming pool, kitchen, this is essentially an ocean liner

      @@EperogiLimousine not that ship.

The more distance you can cover at sea, the better. A lot of freight is shipped without a cab or driver. If it wasn't, they would have rather driven to Estonia and take the Ferry from there.
Even with a driver, a 30-hour crossing is convenient for the mandatory weekly resting period.

@@DdW85 if I remeber correctly weekend resning have to be 36 hours.

You can do it your short weekend brake (24) even if it is interrupted with embarking, but 45 weekend is not allowed to do it this way.
