I did this bc I feel like social media has reduced how we communicate to short bursts of verbiage designed to create a glossy picture of ourselves that rarely tells the whole story or sometimes the truth. Our patience and tolerance of anything lengthy has been vastly reduced. Our attention span is stunted and we have lost our desire to hear anything more than a thumbnail sketch before we want to move on. We don’t have or make time for each other in this modern world. So many souls go unexamined or are unknown. We can only feel loved if we are known. It is very painful to feel unknown. If we write more than five sentences in a comment we get shamed for writing a “book”. All that tells me is you don’t care. I don’t care that you don’t care, then don’t read it, but it still hurts. Our city is a city that, during the summer, receives hundreds of homeless people from other cities. We are a central city in a state filled to the brim with drugs and mental health issues. I stopped going out so much because I realized I cannot help everyone. I feel like I very well could have been homeless, my mom and dad abandoned me and I'm an only child. It's only because of my husband that I never was.
this song encapsulate empathy in such a beautiful way. I love how all hers songs almost in a kind of way is a meditation about important things in life.

A reminder that in the USA most states have programs for homeless teenagers to get support. A lot of teens wont take the help but its always good to be informed of the local programs you can refer people to. As someone who is currently homeless there are 17 year olds to 25 year olds on this campus, as well as the group home which isn't part of this program but is for under 17 (The group home is shitty, so be informed of the conditions in places you are referring people to)
Next time, ask them! try to strike conversation. maybe get them some food and try to get them to talk to you. I work as a volenteer helping homeless people everwhere. we come with a truck to largly 'populated' area's, set down bins of clothes, food, self care products, first aid, bedding, etc. Sometimes all they need is to be treated like a living human being, and it brighten's their day. It really does help them. Even just talking. Letting them know that they're worth your time. It's beutiful how much they can be smiling at the end of a conversation. (please excuse any spelling errors)
My class learned this and we sang it in assembly in front of the whole school and I just think it sad that not enough people are doing stuff about homeless people but you are very talented so just if people see this please even say hi or give a bit change because they are normal people who where unlucky and I’m dissapointed in myself for not helping them so u making a small change but will lead to a massive one sorry for wasting your time with this comment but have a wonderful day week month year and life

An absolute masterpiece Perfectly presents More then half of the American population depressed Poor/homeless Sad and lonely great song Ik the song is just saying the my story part cause of the lyrical but I wanna share my story My story: Born in Chesapeake Virginia My brother was born near Williamsburg but my parents moved to be closer to other family We lived in a 1 story house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms Until I was 6-7 And then I had a house fire It was pretty devastating luckily most of are very personal stuff survived including birth certificates and other things because they were in heat resistance things or things that didn’t get damaged I lived in my grandmas house till march of the next year luckily right after the house fires litteraly the day after we had 2 vacations planned the first 1 to the outer banks where we spent a week on a beautiful beach house overlooking the ocean And then we went to Florida And spent a bit with are grandparents who live down there then me and my brother and my mom and dad went to universal studios and for the next year we lived in are grandparents house who live in Suffolk Virginia and then we moved back into are Ol house although it was mostly the same there was some thwt changed there used to be a step from are dining room to living room with 2 white bookshelves that were built in also it was completely new furniture and then after this my dad had to find a new job cause his old job had a promotion scandal when he rewlly deserved it They gave it to people with little experience he was there for almost a decade And then they expected him to train them so he quit and filed a lawsuit with other people who went through this and then he just did Uber for a while but then he got a job at Amazon has a medical/safety guy and works there ever Sience that’s my life so far
