Never even heard of the Boz until I was in college in the mid/late seventies and of course Silk Degrees was everywhere.
Had no idea he was this on fire bluesman!

Memories? "You betcha!" Lisa Kindred and our band opened for him at Keystone Corner in San Francisco on Thanksgiving in either '70 or '71. Freddie Herrera called us around noon-thirty and we pulled it together for that night. Great time, great memories and even great music. While this is a more "Raw" sound than his later, more refined, "Black Tie" music, it's what all of us were doing at that time.

I was just a youngster, took my girlfriend to the Paramont theatre in Oackland early 70's black tie only. He played this with Stevie Miller. I miss Sky Dog. Few yrs. back Saw him in Napa. Saw Boz and his wife walk in the side curtain, they sat down front and center, Boz played a few tunes with Los Lobos, headliner, , great show, Chavez, Hidalgo and Boz. I was blessed.

Such a killer classic! His early works were indeed raw and he was at his finest. I can't stand his commercial stuff having grown up with this. I can't say he grew musically by selling out....

depends on your definition of selling out. silk degrees is generally regarded as a masterpiece.

I get you but. How would you say Steve Miller evolved over his career compared to Boz ?

We sometimes forget what a great guitarist Boz is. Killer Hammond B3 intro. Wonder who it was? Jochim Young?

You are right there because I tend to think more about his singing since I like his voice so much. Boz is pretty darn good on the guitar and I do love this track.

Skip! Hope you're doing well. Joachim Young, indeed. You're right, Boz is a very soulful guitar player...Hope to see you at Mtn Winery one of these years...

I know this is not from the live similcast with WBZ TV. Does anyone recall a Live and true a quad broadcast with WBUR, WBCN and WBZ? I remember Linda Ronstat appearing, maybe the Chambers Brothers and Boz. I have never heard a better presentation of live performances. Live no gimmics and true quad!!! IT WAS GOOD!!!!

Les Dudeck played with Boz at the Umass Amherst Spring Concert that year and did the lead guitar on Loan Me a Dime. This might be him on this recording.

Oh, you are solely missing out on some great Boz blues that's been released in the last 10 years, the latest, A Fool to Care, was released in 2015 and is right up there with the best of them. I never think of Boz in the past tense; it's what's next.

Such a killer classic. I have found it hard to listen to much of anything he did once he went commercial. It pales in comparison. Raw? Yes it is and the way it was meant to be. I understand selling out and he could still have done quite well staying true to his early days.
