Quite something, eh? I play this for my friends when it's quiet in the evening. Put's them in a zone. Boz Scaggs' singing is full of pain and soulful lament. Duane's guitar winds along. One of his best. It was one more sad day in the 70's when we heard he too had passed away. Thanks for this one, also.

This is a spectacular song. Early Boz Scaggs and the late, great Duane Allman on guitar. Enjoy

Ear candy for those of us that have listened to this masterpiece for so many years. As good as it gets. Muscle Shoals produced in my opinion a tremendous amount of utterly fantastic music. What a time to be alive. God bless.

This was recorded at the legendary studio at Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Artists who recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio included The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Duane Allman, George Michael, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Tamiko Jones, Cher, Cat Stevens and Boz Scaggs.

The first time Duane went to Muscle Shoals he couldn't believe all those studio cats were white. His influencers were Buddy Guy, BB King, Taj Mahal, Blind Willie Dixon. The soul of Duane Skydog Allman lives on. It's amazing how much music he made in his tragically shortened life.

Wayne jackson and the Memphis Horns made that recording magic. Im surprised they made the trip down to 3614 Jackson Highway, Sheffield, Alabama,. Population 3,000. Immortal recording.

Have you heard Duane with Aretha Franklin? Check it out. It was the creation of southern rock, also at Muscle Shoals.
Btw, this was about 10 days after I was born.

Duane Allman of "The Allman Bros" Blues Band. He died in 1972 I think. One of the great "Slide" guitarists ever. Boz Skaggs is so underrated as an artist. He must be in his mid to late 70s these days. Thanks for this.

Has always been my favorite Boz Scaggs album and "Loan Me a Dime" is just an awesome, flawless version of a blues classic. I've listened to it hundreds of time and every nuance still give me chills.

Great music. Duane lives on in Derek Trucks now. Duanne has a style you can always recognize in a song. So sad we lost him so early. Boz is a boss on vocals.

Definitely one of my Desert Island albums. People these days seem to think Boz came on the scene with Silk Degrees simply because he had 4 hit singles off of that album. It was his 6th and every one of the previous albums were stellar as well. Particularly this self titled release.

Duane is pronounced like Dwayne as in D Wade. He played guitars. One of the great blues guitarists ever and he died at 24 in a motorcycle accident. The organ wasn't credited in the video but I think it was Booker T. Jones. Edit: I take that last part back. It was Barry Beckett on all the keys.

Give Boz a chance with smooth tunes like NOTHING BUT THE BLUES, LIDO SHUFFLE, MISS SUN, BREAKDOWN DEAD, AHEAD, SIERRA, THANKS TO YOU, I'LL BE THE ONE, LOST IT, TIME, and FOLLOW THAT MAN. All great tunes that you'd love to hear. Boz is classic jazzy, soulful, and smooth as silk. A must-listen to artist with a deep rabbit hole to explore.

For a man who passed way too early in his life Duane Allman was a brilliant musician . Please pronounce his name correctly, Its pronounced Dwayne just spelled differently! Definitely not trying to be rude , but he does deserve to have his story told correctly to get the credit he has earned . Thanks and keep on with the reviews, love to see this music still being enjoyed !

Just remember that Duane (pronounced just like Dwayne) was only with the Allman Bros Band for, i believe, two albums...self titled and Eat a Peach plus the legendary Live at Fillmore East double. Listen to and review anything from those.
They werent the same without him. Not bad, but not as good.
In Memory Of Elizabeth Reid (fine to do a live cut from Fillmore East) and Blue Sky (album track) are my two favorite songs but there are many.
