Nostalgia is hitting hard on this one, I remember playing Commando 2 when I was like 6 or 7 years old back in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Literally spent hours on this game, specially on the third and fourth missions which I remember also by then that they where difficult or challenging for me.
Probably the best guide for Commando 2 as far as now. It’s got real-time gameplay, and aside from cuts from deaths, I think it’s pretty accurate of a guide.

When I was a kid my local laundromat had an original NEOGEO Cab with Puzzle Bobble 2 and Metal Slug X, unfortunately they removed it after sometime. Not quite, I have cut away the deaths and you can see this from the lives count changing at some points in the video. Thanks though! I think the hard difficulty overall was easier than mission 8 because of the stronger weapons.

The target of the game is to go through a certain amount of levels, and killing the enemies while walking through the levels. There are a wide variety of weapons, all of which have been renamed. Following the completion of each mission, the player unlocks several new weapons. Over the course of the game, the weapons unlocked are more powerful than the ones before them. There are 3 acts, and each one is exactly the same as the first act, although more enemies, items, unique food, and obstacles are added.
I remember when I played this game. I couldn't get pass the 3rd level. I eventually did, and went as far as the 7th level. Back then I was that stupid and though the levels after the 4th would be different but turned out they were just the first 4 on higher difficulty. But what I like about level design in this game is the 4th mission's map, they really knocked it out of the park with that one.

From time to time, I get back to this game and try to complete mission 8. It's been well over 10 years and I haven't managed it yet. A single most difficult thing I've ever played.
It's actually a pretty awesome flash game. It's crazy to think that normal's last level is easier than hard's last level because of the weapons you get.
Im always picking bee side in normal and hard mode on mission 4 its very tough to beat the final boss in normal and hard all you need to find a way to beat those missions watch this commando 2 gamer :)
I almost never pick that side since iirc there's unavoidable gas and on higher difficulties the damage was quite high. Doesn't really matter which route you take, it just comes down to personal preference.

Ngl, this is the best guide I've seen that actually includes all 12 Missions. Curious, is it possible to beat all 12 missions without using "The Ultimate Destruction"? Some bosses like Crabocolypse and the Laser on the Warlord Samurai seems literally impossible to do without using The Ultimate Destruction on higher difficulties.
Thanks, I'm not sure if you can destroy the laser in time if you don't use ultimate destruction, though I've never tried. Best gun to use would be the Dragon Destructor I'd imagine but I feel like you would take at least 2 hits from the laser which basically renders you dead, I could be wrong. On normal difficulty you're kinda lacking in firepower so the laser would melt you I believe. As for Crabocolypse, I don't think there's a reliable way to dodge its attacks for long enough to kill it but I'd love to be proven wrong. Iirc I was able to beat Crabocolypse on normal difficulty without ultimate destruction but I may misremember that. Other bosses shouldn't be a problem.
The mision 4 was the one I hated the most, every single fucking time i was running out of bullets because the fuckers were to Tough for my pistol, and that motherfucking final robot, that thing took me weeks! 🔥
I vaguely remember playing the first Commando flash game back in the day but I didn't know there was also a sequel. You know what's funny? That for being a Metal Slug clone, they put more efforts (and original assets) into it than the actual Metal Slug games that had been released during the same period. (By the way, the multi-stage rocket boss reminds me of the tower boss from Metal Slug 4, which reused the graphics assets from the space rocket takeoff animation of Metal Slug 3, except that the one in Commando is much better designed and implemented, even)
The way I go about the boss as a whole: - Take out the red dudes at the beginning with Moonshadow. - Use default pistol for the rest of the first section. - Make sure that when you finish the first section, you will get close to the laser cannon quickly for the spam to hit well. If you're too far, most of the bullets will fly over the cannon. - If you struggle knowing when the first section will be destroyed, take a look at your score when the rocket launcher gets damaged. It will yield 40k points until the first section is destroyed completely. When you get close to this amount, only shoot after having jumped over the rockets to make sure you get close to the laser cannon during the transition. - Make sure to crouch so you hit the laser cannon well. - Destroy the laser cannon quickly by holding the left mouse button and scrolling the wheel. - After the laser cannon, destroy the bottom cannons first with Dominator, since the top one can't hit you if you're as close as possible to the boss. The top one can be destroyed with the starting pistol to conserve more ammo for the 3rd part. - In the 3rd part, for the rocket launchers use Maisto. Destroy the bottom ones first since Maisto's blasts are very high. This way you'll hit 2 of the rocket launchers at the same time. - If you can't dodge the vertical rockets, shoot a gap for yourself. - Prioritize the bottom and middle rows of launchers first. - If you run out of Maisto ammo, use Dominator. - For the lasers, use Marrugo. The bullets home in on the lasers so you don't have to aim for them. If you run out of Marrugo bullets, use either the Maisto, Dominator or Moonshadow for the rest. - If you only have one laser left, you could use the default pistol to take it out. I think there was one pattern the laser can shoot that's impossible to dodge so it's a little risky. - For the last section, use whatever ammo you have left and then use either the knife or default pistol. It's a matter of personal preference, I use the default pistol. - Jump for the blasts to give yourself more time and a wider gap to dodge through. That's about as detailed as I can describe it. Good luck on the level!
The Commando 2 Wiki has a section describing 8 additional bonus missions in the game. I've seen one or two videos of gameplay on TH-cam (I can't seem to find and re-watch them). Where can we play these bonus missions?!
I guess you would have to edit the game itself which _I think_ involves decompiling the swf file. I'm not sure though, maybe you should ask around in Flashpoint's discord server and see if anyone can help you out with that. I haven't heard of these bonus missions before so let me know if you get your hands on anything.
After beating it for many times, mission 8 turned out not to be that hard, you havr to roll your mouse wheel you reach the 2nd and 3rd room, and to take as less damage as possible from the 1st and 4th floor

I never could pass this game. I got stuck at the final boss and never completed it. The best i got to was 1:55:24 on that "jump out" part but i didn't know where to jump so i just jumped off down and died

@@eetuthereindeer6671 Nice, you got pretty far already. I recommend checking out the spot I stand in the video, you can just stand there and jump when the plane shoots the bullet arcs (even when both of the guns shoot at the same time). The homing rockets can be difficult to deal with so consider using the weapon spam trick. Alternatively you can try shooting them like I did. On the last phase the plane has a cannon on top - it won't hit you if you stand in the spot but timing the jumps through the bullet arcs is precise so you could use the weapon spam there too if needed. Just depends if you can risk taking further damage. Good luck!

I love this game to bits but holy hell the difficulty balancing is absolute garbage. Multiplied enemy health/damage AND extra enemies? Plus insufficient firepower to deal with it all, especially on Missions 5 - 8 and ESPECIALLY Mission 8

- For the last section, use whatever ammo you have left and then use either the knife or default pistol. It's a matter of personal preference, I use the default pistol.
- Jump for the blasts to give yourself more time and a wider gap to dodge through.

The Commando 2 Wiki has a section describing 8 additional bonus missions in the game. I've seen one or two videos of gameplay on TH-cam (I can't seem to find and re-watch them). Where can we play these bonus missions?!
I guess you would have to edit the game itself which _I think_ involves decompiling the swf file. I'm not sure though, maybe you should ask around in Flashpoint's discord server and see if anyone can help you out with that. I haven't heard of these bonus missions before so let me know if you get your hands on anything.

After beating it for many times, mission 8 turned out not to be that hard, you havr to roll your mouse wheel you reach the 2nd and 3rd room, and to take as less damage as possible from the 1st and 4th floor

I never could pass this game. I got stuck at the final boss and never completed it. The best i got to was 1:55:24 on that "jump out" part but i didn't know where to jump so i just jumped off down and died

@@eerie.I got past it for the first time ever. But now that I unlocked "normal" mode I can't even get past the blue airplane before the crab fight on the train. Died to it like 18 times already

I recommend checking out the spot I stand in the video, you can just stand there and jump when the plane shoots the bullet arcs (even when both of the guns shoot at the same time).
The homing rockets can be difficult to deal with so consider using the weapon spam trick. Alternatively you can try shooting them like I did.
On the last phase the plane has a cannon on top - it won't hit you if you stand in the spot but timing the jumps through the bullet arcs is precise so you could use the weapon spam there too if needed. Just depends if you can risk taking further damage.

@@eerie.Thanks for thr tips. Yeah I found a safe spot before the homing missiles but when they come out I just die every time. Doesn't help that the 2 tanks before it kill me on every 3rd attempt but your safe spot with them helps immensively
I love this game to bits but holy hell the difficulty balancing is absolute garbage. Multiplied enemy health/damage AND extra enemies? Plus insufficient firepower to deal with it all, especially on Missions 5 - 8 and ESPECIALLY Mission 8

What do you mean by resetting? If you have issues with saving your progress, someone had an issue like that which I responded to in the comments here.
I mean, maybe you know the y8 browser and there is also coma do and only there it is done that when I pass the first four levels it does not want to let me go, it only resets again, etc.
