I got into Beyblade through the Metal Fusion anime, but I didn’t start collecting them until Shogun Steel. I still have a few of them somewhere… My FRIEND, however, had a whole cubby’s worth of them, from both Metal Fusion and Shogun Steel (maybe even from before Metal Fusion). Anytime I went over, we would just have a whole anime battle with those things. Good times.
I grow up with hot wheels and similar licensed toy cars when I was a kid. toy cars and racing games that feature real-world branded cars are why I am into cars, which made me have a desire to work in the automotive industry when I graduated.
Makes me remember all the toys I had as a 90s kid; transformers, lego, power rangers, some Gundam, random action figures and other toys. Now that I think about not much has really changed in my collection though I did start anime figures / statues as well.
I still have a binder of pokemon cards, it remains on my bookshelf to this very day. One of my favorite Pokémon is Riolu, he's a little fighting-type puppy.
I remember how we played was that we each used 1 pokemon and just take turns attacking Problem was we were dutch and didn't understand shit Any attack that said (damage #) × would become the damage # ² First i always lost to kids with 10k hp card (now that i know the rules and collect them myself, i know those were fake as hell) but everyone stopped playing as soon as i showed up with a pokemon with a 10 damage move that put the opponent to sleep (we tought sleep was like being paralized and they could attack) i was litterly stun locking people their 10k to pokemon with a 40 hp pokemon I now know how to play the game btw

The original ex pokemon cards went hard. My first ex card was the metagross ex from the 3 pack blister. I believe it had ex delta species packs. (A 2004 set) I remember pulling a steel type pikachu card. 5 year old me was hyped.

Beyblades went crazy at my school man, so okay there was a four person see-saw and the base was concrete. So... When they removed the see-saw it left a perfect concrete bowl, which literally looked like a mini beyblade arena it was amazing!
I remember Monster Balls, Nerf weapons, Legos, G. I. Joes, Micro Machines, Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Mighty Max/Polly Pocket, Domino Rally, Marbles and marble tracks, bouncy balls, super balls, yo-yos, Rubik’s Cube, Super Soakers (there was always that one sadistic kid who would fill them with urine)…etc.
The most villainous toy the ever advertised was Fushigi. Those commercials made it looks like you were handling those airbending balls Aang would make.
I thought my bestie and I were the only ones who knew GOGOs. I loved them. But the concept was such a cashgrab, like u not only needed to collect the GOGOs, you also needed all the stickers AND every GOGO had multiple colors/skins and in later series‘ even special skins that glowed in the dark or smth. And the DISAPPOINTMENT when u got a GOGO you always wanted - but in the wrong color. That‘s what I call trauma. I also still have mine somewhere 😂
One thing I never hear being talked about anymore is Gak. Like if you were watching MLP back in the day you remember all those Gak commercials. I had one and it was just fun to mess around with.

Toy wooden trains and Hotwheels was 90% of my childhood. I just would build train tracks spanning the house, and I would “race” hot wheels cars with the cars movie cars (the other 10% of my childhood, cars and cars 2) and I loved it. I counted around 750 hotwheels cars about 5 years ago, and it’s grown since then due to a little inheritor in my house.
I remember growing up my fam aint have much cash so instead of beyblades we had trompos which is technically a beyblade but with a actual string you wrap around & then trhow for the trompo to roll, i had the fake yugioh cards from my local fleamarker not cause of money since there was pokemon cards aswell but i always like yugioh better, instead of a wubnle bubble we usted to just fill a balloon up with air & kick it like a ball until someone missed & it dropped so that person would lose, instead of gogos i would buy the tiny little ninja toys that cost 50c at my local heb, & i actually had hotwheels but no trakcs since they used to cost a lil to much for my budget as a kid & would just create my own tracks in the dirt. Dont know where all my hotwheels went tho🤔, recently started collecting hotwheels again but only the ones based on classics & lowriders tho i think i might look into buying the fast & furious ones cs some are nice looking but yeah, didnt really have what others kids had as a kid yet i had somewhat something like the other kids. Skylanders and beyblades were definitely my childhood toys I loved, beyblades were very popular when I was around grade 1 to like grade 5
Rn when I’m 13, and almost 14 they have ex’s back in scarlet and ciolet, and the boxes and tins with the cards in the front r the dubs, and skylanders weren’t expensive, I remember for a regular one being $8, the giants were like $13, and multi packs like $16
But the new ones suck and the old ex cards from XY were better

Fidget spinners were the TRENDIEST thing in 2017. I was there, Me and my friends were dealing each others fidget spinners like drugs, and yet i still have like 3 of them in one of the cabinets of my room. In 2021 pop-its were somehow popular thx to tiktok, like they can barely serve a purpose, new trends are nothing compared to the fidget spinner era back in the day.
