      Where I live in the US the McDonald’s has no vegan options. We had beyond chicken at KFC for a limited time but they cooked it in the same oil as the chicken. Our Burger King has the impossible whopper which they offer to microwave instead of grill to avoid cross contamination. Our subway here just has falafel or veggie sandwiches. That’s about it.

    • @johnchesterfield9726
      @johnchesterfield9726 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Actually as a vegan, I’d say there’s an imperative to support the vegan options at restaurants that primarily profit off slaughtering animals. The reason for that is because by demanding for those cruelty-free products we show these businesses that we want them and will make them money when they have them on their menus. If it is successful for one restaurant that adds a new vegan item on their menu other restaurants will catch on and begin to add vegan option on their menus as well. If the demand for those cruelty-free products don’t make these businesses a lot of money then they won’t continue to make them anymore and they won’t be on their menus, meaning less people will be exposed to the idea that veganism is an option. As vegans we need to normalize veganism and make it more accessible to others, and it really helps when there is the anomalous cruelty-free option in a menu surrounded by products that took blood and violence to obtain. Besides, regular consumers of these fast food chains aren’t vegan so it is the perfect menu to add vegan products to reach more people who aren’t vegan.

      @@nicoleavery7238 But the transition into a vegan society has to start somewhere. Many years ago, these wouldn't have been options anywhere. So this shows that veganism is becoming more popular and that there's now a demand for these products, when there didn't used to be. We live is a consumerism society, so the fact that it's about money isn't a bad thing itself. The companies are just supplying a demand for animal foods. As the demand changes, so will the supply.

    Here in austria McDonald's has no vegan options. (Maybe in vienna they do but not in my city) And subway has even more vegan options like the meatless fajita or the meatless chicken teriyaki!. Burger king is a winner as well, especially with their new (autrian exclusive?) campaign that says "Normal or with meat" on billboards around my city. So Subway and Burger King are definitely the winners where I live.

    Not started it yet but Imo Burger King is the tastiest, I'm pretty sure they use patties from the vegetarian butcher.

    I wish the US had all these options! They’re getting there, but still a few steps behind.

    In Switzerland, we don't have any vegan options at mcdonalds and at BK only if you remove the non-vegan mayo. In 2022...😑

    i have a dilemma with these, i do eat them occasionally but am i supporting a meat based industry or am i increasing the demand for plant based options?

    Here in the U S. you can ask to have the impossible whopper microwaved.

    At least here in Germany, you hafta be very careful when ordering something "vegan" at McD's or BK. They don't even use the word, just "plant-based". A lot of BK's "plant-based" stuff isn't even vegan, because the sauce is not, and apparently they missed the fact that there's vegan cheese for burgers. But the plant-based Whopper and Long Chicken _are_ vegan, and actualy very yummy.

    I honestly think the Plant burger from BK is the best, Yes it is a big gack they cook it on the same surface but I guess there is demand there

    Damn, in the metropolitan city I'm from in the US, there are no veg mcd options & at bk they only have the impossible whopper. KFC has veg nugs sometimes. Subway they only have the veggie delite...

    McDonalds in the UK;
    If I just wanted a coffee with plant milk - do I have to bring my own?
    If not - is there a surcharge?
    Should I go the bank first to arrange a loan?
