Most vegan recipes that are good don't try and fake it. They're veggies, make veggies taste like good veggies. I'll never be a vegan most likely, but I have actually had some amazing salads, and mushrooms and onion stews. It's possible, just eat them in their intended form.

The #1 problem with anything on the KFC menu for that matter, is that I'd have to go to my local KFC to get it. It boggles my mind that the health department hasn't closed it down yet. I personally know two people who got food poisoning from their food. I'm talking about within minutes of eating it. My own experiences were bad enough I stopped going altogether. They recently put up a sign promising they've made improvements and asking people to give them another chance. I remain skeptical.
I worked for a company that delivered to a few restaurants (if you want to call it that) and KFC was always the nastiest ones. The drivers used to come back telling stories about their deliveries, and I couldn’t stomach eating out of 1. Especially the ones on NY and PA. The worst!
I have to think you're talking about the Hackettstown, NJ outlet, (which is now closed) ... that place was the most disgusting, third-world, filthy place I've ever been in , home in the U.S. ... @@RdCrestdBreegull PLEASE, these things are not healthier as of right now. Beyond Meat has usually been higher in sodium content and what not than actual meat. Even if they're a little bit healthier than their regular meat based counterparts, the difference is negligible imo. It's not healthier enough to actually consider eating plant based fast food if you actually have health related issues. It's still fast food in the end, they're all deep fried, full of fat, processed to high end, and what not. The plant based meat fast food as of right now for the most part aren't really healthier, more or less they're for people who want to avoid eating meat maybe for ethical reasons more than anything.
The way this guy is always clean cut, shaven, dressed like he’s interviewing for a job, hair combed down tight - adds a mystical air of quality to his videos.
I think it's a good thing that companies are providing people who don't want to or can't eat one or all types of meat, but as you said it is often not treated as a proper alternative, and thus the product will be inferior to what it could've been if they took it more seriously. I've tasted many good meat replacements, but I've also eaten some with _very_ poor texture. I'm not a vegetarian, but I look forward to seeing what they'll come up with in the future.
The thing with plant based meat will be short lived anyway. There are companies experimenting with lab grown meat already, which is real meat, but grown out of a single cell of an animal. That means no animal slaughter at all. And I'd say most vegetarians and vegans don't eat meat for moral reasons. The plant based meat thing will then at most be an absolute niche for vegetarians who can't eat meat.
@@bumponalog5001 Because some people go veggie for health reasons or other reasons, not because they didn't like the taste of meat. Best quote: "The box has a lot of green on it... obviously to represent all the money that KFC hopes to make on this promotion" :) lol - excellent review :)
Is it weird that I find that to be the most egregious thing about this promotion? When I think of KFC I think of the colors red and white. Seeing something green with the KFC logo on it is just... unnatural. Which is ironic because that's probably the one feeling that KFC _doesn't_ want their customers to associate with these non-meat substitutes. I feel like these sort of rookie mistakes wouldn't have been made twenty years ago. It's like the concept of brand promotion has just been mysteriously lost to the passage of time or something.
As someone who has been having a lot of dental problems recently- I cannot thank you enough for saying something about this issue. A lot of fast food is too tough/chewy for me right now because it ends up overcooked or dried out from being under the heat lamps for too long. I don't get to eat out often right now so it kinda sucks when I do and it ends up inedible.
i’ve had these twice and the first time the entire batch was perfect they were soft and tasty and i liked them so much i went back another day and half of my nuggets were burnt up and so tough i couldn’t bite them. i think the issue is some employees are treating them like the normal chicken when they cook a lot quicker than normal chicken so they end up cooking them too long and they get burnt up.
I think it’s just a fact of them leaving the chicken in the fryer after the timer goes off.. because I’ve have similar issues with their popcorn chicken. Sometimes I get it and it’s great, but other times it’s like a rock. I’ve seen similar things happen when these places get busy.. you hear the timers going off with no one taking the food out
Those are so incredibly dense! Holy cow! As a chef, I see numerous problems with the Beyond Fried Chicken. One of the problems I can see is that while it probably WAS tested in the KFC Test Kitchen at corporate, and they figured out the perfect way to cook it, that's not going to translate over to everything as a whole. It's almost certain that every restaurant is just treating it like regular chicken, frying it for the same amount of time as regular chicken tenders in their fryers. This means overcooked breaded protein squares. The reason behind this is that, in order to have consistency across the board, those fryers have preset timers that are the same at EVERY SINGLE KFC. Individual chain location owners aren't going to be fiddling with the timers on their fryers for a fad item. The other problem is that, unless there's a separate fryer basin (or actually a separate fryer entirely), there is GOING to be cross contamination. They're likely cooking the Beyond Fried Chicken in the same oil as their REGULAR Fried Chicken, which makes this EXPLICITLY not a vegetarian/vegan option (and those who have been vegetarian/vegan long enough could get sick).
@@Flame1500 That said, next time you go in, can you check if there is? I'm unsure why there would be if one setting really works for literally everything else on the menu.
Thanks. This is very well and professionally put. I’m vegetarian and was excited to go to KFC for the first (and second) time in my life, especially since I love the Carls Jr beyond burgers. ReviewBruh was dead on in describing the texture of the product. I don’t have any reference to comment on the taste of Chicken as I’ve never eaten any.
There are some decent vegan/vegetarian replacements with which you can replicate the taste (I personally prefer chickpeas as a replacement for canned tuna, I still eat that despite no longer being a strict vegetarian) but these "beyond" foods are inedible. Just make some seitan or tofu and make nuggies out them instead of whatever the hell this is.
Look, you can go on a Safari to Africa, get an order here in the states, put it in your luggage, and in two weeks out in the bush, pull it out and it won't be spoiled. On top of that, no animal is going to attack you for your meal. Think positive.
If both Reviewbrah and Nikocado mutually considers your food inedible, you've reached a new level of disappointment that even your own parent wouldn't be able to facially express.
This is a good idea for KFC. They can now scam their customers by making them think they are buying food, when in reality they are buying fried rocks or "leather shoe textured" food as ReviewBrah calls it.
Funny how one of the biggest reasons for veganism is the enviornmental benefits, yet these vegan nuggets are some of the most overpackaged things I have seen
@@TheRealSockon The motto goes REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, which is in order of decreasing priority. Reducing use is most important, and recycling is last resorts if you can't avoid reducing use or reusing new items.
I had them yesterday, tasted like chicken but had the consistency between a tire and some sort of jerky. Sad that it isn't just my store preparing them wrong, but the entire recipe being wrong.
Fast food brands are generally consistent in the way they prepare the food, for example Popeyes in the USA tastes the same as the one in Brazil, so if something is bad is the recipe
Just had an order in Boston and it was entirely effortless to chew... and reasonably tasty. Definitely something I'd recommend to non-vegan friends. Better than the Impossible nuggets they had at Burger King here in Boston for a short trial run not long ago.
I remember a post on Facebook saying that this stuff looks like "Fried Erasers." By the look of those nuggets they do seem do bare a strong resemblance to what would be considered a fried eraser. Also by how hard it was for him to bite into one it probably felt like eating one.
The last few minutes of this video legitimately hurt, the man seemed so broken and deconstructed. Still manages to pull out redeeming qualities about it.
Yes! Like the same people who are reviewing these KFC nuggets are reviewing the Hooters plant based wings, and apparently the wings are good. I haven’t had them but I had the nuggets, and sadly he’s right. The flavor is good, but the texture is like eating the sole of your shoes. God awful. Like wtf KFC, I feel insulted that they felt it was okay to sell people these things.
I don't understand the point of a chicken alternative. Chicken meat is tasty as hell, and extremely inexpensive. You can buy an entire package of chicken thighs for $6, and it's enough meat to feed a person for a week. Correction: TASTY AF.
@@mogenvonbogel7342 because people miss meat lmao. makes total sense to me honestly. if you can get roughly the same experience without hurting an animal why not? im not a vegan myself but im pretty sure not every vegan out there is an animal-meat repulsed type.
Honestly what I was thinking! In the UK almost every supermarket has an own-brand vegan range, offering good quality, low-priced meat alternatives. Bang it in an oven or air fryer for 15-20 minutes, and you’re good. KFC, a global corporation, literally failed at every step 😭
I thought these were going to be a good solution for some, BUT, KFC has admitted, they are fried in the same oil as their chicken. . so does that really make them vegetarian?
Same problem Burger King had, they called it vegan but got a suit cuz how they are cooked changed them to vegetarian. I think the problem here is how they layered the beyond "meat" to mimick chicken texture and chicken isnt ground its layered so like a bunch of string combined to make a rope made it tough.
I tried this product last week and thought that the first store didn’t make it right, and got another box from a different part of town. I had the exact same experience as Reviewbrah. Thanks for confirming it.
I wonder if the company is doing something about it, I guess it's a ingredient most vegan companies are using that's making it rubbery even if you slightly overcook them.

The #1 problem with anything on the KFC menu for that matter, is that I'd have to go to my local KFC to get it. It boggles my mind that the health department hasn't closed it down yet. They recently put up a sign promising they've made improvements and asking people to give them another chance. I remain skeptical.

And I'd say most vegetarians and vegans don't eat meat for moral reasons. i’ve had these twice and the first time the entire batch was perfect they were soft and tasty and i liked them so much i went back another day and half of my nuggets were burnt up and so tough i couldn’t bite them. i think the issue is some employees are treating them like the normal chicken when they cook a lot quicker than normal chicken so they end up cooking them too long and they get burnt up.
The fryers have timers on them, they would only overcook them if they accidentally selected the wrong chicken on the fryer
You'd be surprised how incompetent some people are in a kitchen. I'm almost 100% sure they're frying them for too long.
Source: I work in a kitchen
That, and we’re talking about KFC employees here. They don’t get paid enough to care if your nuggets are cooked well or not.
I think it’s just a fact of them leaving the chicken in the fryer after the timer goes off.. because I’ve have similar issues with their popcorn chicken. Sometimes I get it and it’s great, but other times it’s like a rock. I’ve seen similar things happen when these places get busy.. you hear the timers going off with no one taking the food out
The nuggets are cooked in the same fryer as the regular chicken....make it make sense..
8:41 the force he had to make when pulling that nugget apart is crazy
They're likely cooking the Beyond Fried Chicken in the same oil as their REGULAR Fried Chicken, which makes this EXPLICITLY not a vegetarian/vegan option (and those who have been vegetarian/vegan long enough could get sick).
we use a separate fryer but yes we don’t change the timers. i didn’t even know there was different timings tbh

"i see they went with the.....shoe leather texture..." absolutely epic, its 2:30 AM and im crying
What’s sad is that there are some chicken alternatives out there that are actually good… and KFC decided to just not try AT ALL😭
If your so much of a vegan why would you want to eat a vegan version of a chicken it just doesn’t make sense
I thought these were going to be a good solution for some, BUT, KFC has admitted, they are fried in the same oil as their chicken. . so does that really make them vegetarian?
vegetarian, yes
100%. Just not vegan.
Nah, its still vegetarian, just not vegan.
Yes. They use canola oil.
I tried this product last week and thought that the first store didn’t make it right, and got another box from a different part of town. I had the exact same experience as Reviewbrah. Thanks for confirming it.
A lot of people are saying this.
@Justine Littlewood I like the way your brain works
@Justine Littlewood only 10 nuggets a box allowed in California😞
@@spankthemonkey9351 don't add sauce, that makes the box an NFA item
I wonder if the company is doing something about it, I guess it's a ingredient most vegan companies are using that's making it rubbery even if you slightly overcook them.
