You should sand on the left side of the disk where the work is held in place on the table.. If you sand on the right side the work is lifted off the table and sanding metal you will get sparks in your face and eyes. Lovely sturdy construction and project. Well done.
This is actually a really nice build. The only thing i would have included would be a miter slot on the table so you can set the angle to the sanding plate. Other than that, I don't think you could ask for too much more.
Nice. Looks great. Looks like a pretty in-depth build. I'd love a quick and dirty version. I've been saving a 2.5HP treadmill motor for a purpose like this.

Beautiful! I found a motor on a shelf while cleaning my dad's shop after he passed. He was a machinist. I was law enforcement. I didn't know what to do with it. Now, I do since wood is my passion. Thank you. One thought; velcro loses its grip characteristic in short order and must be replaced on that wood disk. Sticky back sandpaper easier to replace then velcro hook after super gluing it on. Just a thot.
1. Where can I get 3" V belt pulley? I need 9/16" or at least 5/8" belt pulley to fit to my motor. 2. Is a 0.25 hp induction motor adequate to drive 9" sander?
Very cool video and build. I like the great instructions on your website to build this. I’m going to try to make one myself as soon as I can. Thank you for sharing
your videos always very interesting but not an easy to make it.... 🙂
Happy New Year to you and all your followers!! A superior and unconventional realization that I particularly appreciated!! The self-built knobs are the "added value".... ;-) If you find abrasive discs without holes and of different grain, you could cut them and use at least two different finishes on the same level. Thanks for sharing!!! Antonello - Varese - Italy

So. Very. Cool 😎. I. Need. One. Now. I. Have. It. Thanks 👍. Lee
For such work you must have a perfectly equipped workshop.
And for the effort that goes into here, you can also buy a sander. Still a nice device.
Don't stop drilling.... 👍👍
Okk..
Esse projeto é simplesmente incrível! Nota 10.

That’s really good. Loved the metal knobs. Excellent tool to have.
It is good when the head is in place and the hands of a person grow from where it is necessary!
Happy New Year to you and all your followers!!

Hi 👋
Good job idea👏👏👏
Lovely work. A pleasure to watch. What do you think to chamfering off the underside of the table to reduce that gap when it's tilted?
Very good design. But you could add a T-nut track and a protractor support. T-nut track (extruded profile from aluminium) can be bought online.
You're such a genius in your craft. Congratulations. And what is that glue you use, looks like very strong in bonding wood?thank you
