One of my fave racing cars too. Mainly because my dad bought the airfix 1/32 kit in the early 70's and modified it. stuck a motor in it and I had the fastest scalectrix car on the estate.😎
OMG. I remember seeing these race. It’s one of the most beautiful race cars ever designed and built. I really hope you get one of these to build unless I win the lottery I will never touch one, let alone buy and build one. The last time I saw and heard a 917 was Goodwood F.O.S. The kit looks stunning, just stunning. It was one of those cars that just looked a winner before the engine even turned over. Now all they need to do is a Ford GT40 from 1966 Ferrari 321 T2B Williams FW14B as Mansells car. Just as a extra The Ferrari 330 P4 As I said I can but dream but love to see any or all of them
That is a kit I would definitely be interested in. I have the Tamiya 1/24th scale kit in my closet. It's been there for over 20 years but will be coming out of the box this year.
Hi Nigel, One of my favorite car of Le Mans😍 (A lot of pretty GT's too). Sorry to mention that but there was no Kevlar on the Porsche 917k, the brakes and carburetor air intakes were good old fiberglass. I hope that you'll get one to build for the channel.👋🏻
@@NigelsModellingBench Yes, but mostly resin polyester is yellow/light brown translucent when layered, I used it to make a car for my son. I think that Kevlar and carbon fiber started to widely be used in racing in the 80's.
I think I'd much rather purchase a Model Factory Hero 1/12 car and enjoy painting and gluing it together than screw some pre-painted parts together. It might be ok to actually detail up the Pocher car.
@@NigelsModellingBench MFH are complicated and require test fitting/drilling/bending etc. but the resulting modes are sooooo pretty. Great kits if you are looking for a worthwhile challenge to test your skills. Screwing pre-painted parts together is OK😀...I've done some RC truck like that and find building the differentials and transmissions good fun.
A Porker from Porcher 😀Should look brilliant with your magic touch

Very cool!
Wow that's beautiful. Quality stuff from Pocher. A favourite of mine also. All the best to you and Jess.
Thank you! You too!
Very tempted by this. I'm not far off completing the Pocher Lotus 72D, which has been a challenging, but immensely satisfying build so far.
The new 917 looks stunning!!

Engine varied, 4.5 litre, 4.9 litre and the 5.0 litre.
What a beauty great that it comes pre-painted
That’s absolutely awesome...I might just drop into Jadlem and drop my 50..especially as it will limited
Go for it!
Would be nice to have a Silk Cut Jag.

I had an email from Jadlam about this today. They have put it up on pre-order for £715.
Looks a nice model, one of my favourites , including the Porsche 956 and GT40
Hi Nigel,
What a beautiful car and an iconic livery paired together in what looks like a stunning kit
I agree!
Absolutely beautiful mate
Many thanks!

Thanks Yves, so they got tarnished yellow by fuel and sunlight then?
Yep that's correct. And I'm sure they were almost see through, but I'm not to sure.

That is stunning! So gorgeous and that Gulf livery is so sexy! Unfortunately I'd have to win the lottery to buy one but still, it's beautiful.
30 hours modelling time? I spent more than that on my old Airfix 1:72 R.E.8. The only Pocher kit I have built took 21 years.
A Lemans Shelby Cobra would be awesome
Get flocking Nigel,add some carpets!!...
No carpet in this baby!!
OMG NOT AGAIN... I'm jealous again lol what a beauty but I can't justify that cost. Nice though 👍

I believe the Pocher is a far easier build? I have two MFH kits and have heard they do not go together well?

Would prefer it to be presented as a car from a specific race, preferably Le Mans 1970, when Porsche won Le Mans for the first time.
Gorgeous car!! May have to sell a kidney lol
Yes, one kidney is fine for a normal existence lol.
Not for me, but I hope you get one and give it the 'Nige treatment' on line.
Nigel available on pre order at jadlam for £715 with £50 deposit.
Thanks Paul.
Oh I saw this being announced by Jadlam. At £789.99 its too expensive. 😕 Still you could always buy one and pop your action man in there
Well, big models demand a high price.. and Action Men are 1/6 scale..
