His background dancers are doing the exact same steps and still aren’t as precise and fluid as him. Can you imagine how talented you have to be to be his background dancer but still never match his level? 😭
And they are all trained dancers unlike him lol
They don't have to, each dancer has their own style that they can bring into the learned choreography if it's desired. So all them ghosts having some individuality while still being a part of the group seems intended here. Plus, Michael is supposed to be in the center of the attention, he also has a different, much lighter and simpler outfit that the ghosts, which makes the dance moves easier to perform.

A hell of a choreography. I did a bit of MJ dancing when I was younger, I almost broke my knee and ankle while trying this one. Still gives me thrills watching it, never gets old.
I'm trying to dance like MJ right now. But my right knee lets me down(
I joined a dance group when I was 18, and they were doing this choreography, but they already had it mastered. I saw them dance it once, as I had to leave the group again after only one session, but I still remember this and look for a video to dance to it from time to time, it's my favourite :)

Absolutely INSANE choreography! Some moves look so perfect they look fake!! MJ had insane coordination for every part of his body, it really did seem like his body became an instrument, like he said in that Oprah interview. The music flows through him in a way that its indescribable. Truly no other artist comes close to his genius. R.I.P. King of Pop!!!

This reminds me of the first time me and my cousins first saw this when it aired. Completely mesmerized. We tried to get the choreography down but failed lol. Definitely one of his best dance breaks. Timeless. Though I can't listen to his songs much now...makes me cry every time lol. So thanks. But this brings me back. Miss me some MJ. 💕

I can do just about every move from the first part of this dance break. And I can do both ends of the “Too bad!” parts. I’m still trying to get the part before he says “Hell all up in Hollywood…” down lol. I been working on that part too long 😂😂😂

I never fail to get chills at 1:37. I remember the first time I saw this I was like....is that even possible for a human to do? is this CGI? lol
That’s my most favorite dance move of his ever! He’s like liquid there! Majestic elegant and absolutely incredible! Not even the back up dancers who are doing the same move can do it like him.
It is really a nice move isn't it. He's the only one who could do it, the other dancers look really bad doing it

I'll never forget the first time I saw this. It was Halloween of 2001, trick or treating was cancelled because we had a terrible thunderstorm. I was very angry so that night I was flipping channels on tv and they were showing a mj music video marathon. They showed this short film last and when I was watching it I was stunned!!! I thought this was one of the best short films that Michael ever made!

I used to be really terrified by these ghosts but at the same time I loved them. Their designs are crazy and so well made, they don't even look like ghosts, they look like zombies or smth like that but they are cool!
