Lyrics:
You leave your clothes all over the floor
but I don’t mind picking up after you
Now half of my closets full of half of your clothes
But half the time you wear my things and I love when you do
But oo, I know that we can’t do this forever
Oh, but it feels good to be stuck together
I like when it’s just me and, I like when it’s just me and
I like when it’s just me and you
Our time in this place has seen both of us change
You act more tender and I love you that way
Were it to me that bar would never reopen
No more serving drinks, we’d just stay in slow motion
But oo, I know that we can’t do this forever
Oh, but it feels good to be stuck together
I like when it’s just me and, I like when it’s just me and
I like when it’s just me and you
This is the type of songwriting the industry needs
This video should have 5M+ hits. Song is so good and done so well solo acoustic like this
Popularity represents a mediocrity. thus is the nature of averages. Sadly most people can only ever have an average taste in music, because it's the majority that determines the average. This was alluded to first in Oscar Wilde's essay "the Critic as Artist". He surmised that true authentic beauty is seldom recognised in it's own lifetime. Perhaps some authentic singer songer-writers can ride the hype-train of popularity, but only if they fit the mould of superficial expectation. People tend to make judgements on first impressions, based on surface level criteria like appearance.
The truth is most people aren't equipped with the aural-perception skills to fully recognise the deep and subtle soulfulness within the artistry, seemingly apparent in most Field Guide songs. To think this one and "The way it could be", for example, have just over 2k views in more than 1 and 2 years respectively is criminal in my opinion. This is pure gold as far as authentic singer-songwriters are concerned. Well done Paul for being real enough to see it! you have a keen ear! For an artist that this consistent, it's almost a tragedy that he's effectively a starving artist. You've got to assume he'll glow up at some point. I certainly still believe so.
This was soo good ❤️
