I actually snuck over to Buckhannon for dinner during this trip! I hopefully can explore it more as it seemed really neat. And I’ve always wanted to check out Elkins, hopefully will get there soon also.
I moved to WV from Las Vegas, NV. This place is awful. All the dilapidated houses and businesses. None of the restaurants are any good. The river, the mountains, waterfalls and fall colors are beautiful. But beyond that, this is too poor of a state to enjoy.
WV is one of the poorest states, but also beautiful in autumn. Many people have vacation homes in the mountains. Summers are full of bugs, winters can be miserable, with closed roads and dangerous highways. I live in Ohio and love to hike and bike in WV, but I don't want to live there.
@@LaurenceDay-d2pwinter in a lot of West Virginia is more mild than a lot of Ohio. Only the high elevations in West Virginia have much bad winter weather.
Buckhannon and Elkins WV nearby are cool towns also! Real Estate is fairly cheap in West Virginia also!

When I retire I plan on going to every county's big town/city in WV and eat at their local best restaurant.
