  • My first ride on my new Kaabo Mantis 10 Pro (and also my first on any kind of electric scooter). I was testing out the different modes/controls and it was even more fun than I was expecting!
(the torque is going to take some getting used too!)
    Customisations/Additions:
    Extended Rear Fender (from eBay)
Kaabo Mantis Bag (from The E-Scooter Co)
Waterproofing front/back (where cables go in), using black Sugru (from Amazon)
Rear mirror (from Amazon, but I ended up replacing this with bar-end mirrors)
Phone Mount (‘Lamicall Bike Phone Holder’ from Amazon)

E-scooters are never shown going up hill. Are they capable of this? However they do give wonderful clean and simple personal transport. I ride a manual one but I got an old e-scooter from a charity shop. Putting an extra 12v in series with the motor made it quite usable. They are illegal but if you keep a sharp eye out for police I can't see any problem.

Actually, there are quite a few hills in this video (& my other ones too). If you check out from 9m40s - it might not look like it from the GoPro view, but that is a seriously steep hill (it is a pain to walk/cycle up!) - this scooter breezes up this and all hills I have come across! - It’s actually why I spent ages reviewing scooters, before getting this one. I am quite big/heavy (6” / 182cm tall and 15.5 stones/99kg/218llbs in weight) and I didn’t want a weak scooter that wouldn’t easily get me up hills - however, I also didn’t want a huge beast that I couldn’t pop in the car/train/etc. This ticks all the boxes and then some! - you do have to use it carefully, but they should be legal in the UK soon (hopefully in November, when the government is intending to introduce a new class of vehicle to cover eScooters)

My Mantis pro is a hill climber. There is a hill that is like 50m long and if an average person ride a bike they most likely stop in the middle. With my scooter there is no challenge climbing it.

How's the scooter going after the Wet video? It does say on every site I've seen not to ride this scooter in the rain or wet?
    Just curious that's all

    • @adamduff

It’s been fine - but I did take measures to reduce any water damage, like described in this video: th-cam.com/video/oibdfN-c1I4/w-d-xo.html
(see from 2m25s) - mine actually had some already around there, but I bought some extra black Sugru and properly made sure those 2 areas (front/back) were covered. I’ve had no problems since (& I’ve been in much wetter conditions too)

Hello Mr Duff, i was just wondering if you have had any issues with police while riding in the UK?

    • @adamduff
      @adamduff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No, not yet, but I am careful (when/where/how I ride). We do now have quite a lot of eScooters in the area and so it seems it’s a bit too much to chase them all down (especially as expectations are that they will become legal soonish - whenever the new class of vehicle is introduced - potentially November, but we’ll see)

@@pungass4665 try searching on Google. You can probably find a local provider (like I did) for example: thefastmile.at/en/kaabo-mantis-60v-24-5ah-lg.html
…or search on AliExpress for shipping to Austria: a.aliexpress.com/_uvgmHS
Just search for ‘Kaabo Mantis 10 Pro’ (there is some variation on naming in different countries, some using X or Plus, but look out for the 2022 model as that has improved lights/horn/etc).
