I wish Ville would take a 2nd job and do book narrations. I think if he were reading, I would probably get into a greater variety of books just to hear that heavenly voice.
fucking hell that's what I was thinking just a couple of days ago - how cool would it be if he did audio books?
Agree
Imagine Dante's Inferno narrated by Ville's voice...
Yeah, it would be great, if he would make some audio books! I would listen to all of them...;)
Or to actually write one. Either novel or biographic.
I hate how underrated this band is. valos voice is hypnotizing... perfection.
In Europe they were every famous...without bams help
Omg yes
@@katharina4847 Yes and here where I live too (South America)
actually I only heard about this guy Bam cause of HIM lol
Underrated??? Wicked game and Rasmus & apocalyptica joint(bittersweet) was on radio all the time in Turkey. Whomever saw the MVs fell in love with this dude
Underrated, confirm....HIM was something special
This beautiful man is the definition of a genuine artist . He has an alluring aura that is mesmerizing and is emanating pure poetry . Extremely attractive human being with supernatural angelic voice . I don't care if this sounds exagedated ...to me there are people ...and there are PEOPLE and the latter ones are extremely rare and Ville is one of them
Perfectly said
Bam…is that you Bam?
I love how the interviewer geniunely enjoys the conversation, you can just see that he is clearly into the band, and it's very nice to watch. This makes the whole thing much less impersonal and much less routine than usual. Really nice interview :)
ville has one of the sexiest voices! even when he speaks!
yeah, like a burbing or some diesel without turbo :D I love (HIM).. him though lol. Actually he is really a fourtunate guy, cause he is almoust bass and he sings till some tenor parts. Its not something, that is easy to achieve
Yes, I agree! 😍
i agree lol...
I hear poetry when he speaks - not sex
@@chrizzy56 is just technic not fortune
One thing alot of these interviewers fail to comprehend, is HIM were huge before Bam, Bam just helped bring them to the states. Bam saw them on a Top 10 videos program in Helsinki. They were already on their way, Bam just gave them a push.
That’s what I was thinking 💭 🤔
Exactly.
Just ?
This interview is such a treat! I was 14 in a Virgin store checking out music and saw the Greatest Hits album on cassette. I had no idea who they were but the cover captured my attention and so I bought it. Fell in love from first listen and shared it with my classmates! This was in Saudi Arabia and nobody knew their music then. I had to order all the older ones through Virgin and when HIM gained international popularity, they always made sure to reserve a copy for me of every new release. I’m 28 now and the love remains and will forever ❤️
Have you found any tracks since then you haven't heard
9:15 - "Buncha people looking like penguins burning our churches" Hahahaha! Funniest description of the black metal crowd I think I've heard
=))
i still to this day cannot believe Loudwire randomly made an in depth documentary of one of my favorite singers of my favorite band. no one ever knows who they are when i bring them up and i was sure that they were doomed to never get to the western mainstream. and here yall go just dropping a masterpiece
HIM for ever 🤘
"singing songs is like singing to a mirror, it's healing to fully form the thoughts by singing to yourself" - Ville Valo
I like his interviews, he has this intelligent yet humble aura about him. He seems like such Cool guy and excellent songwriter to boot.
Perfection doesn't even amount to how epic and badass this band is, Ville Valo is a most charming metal God. He is the most beautiful and intriguing creature I have ever seen it blesses me. Rock on!!
God yes! Exactly how I feel!
100% here!!
Where tf have I been?! VV is magnificent.
About time I managed to watch this, this lunchtime. Fantastic interview from past to present HIM. By far the best interview in recent times i.e. not asking basically the same questions but instead, going into detail and being comfortable with it. For me, this was like the equivalent to reading the Collector's Edition mag by Metal Hammer - instead of being presented on paper, its presented on screen to hear and see Ville in all his glory :) Lovely.
Louise Mansfield Thank you! - G
It was a great interview :) thanks for sharing with us Loudwire
i will be IN LOVE with this man for all my life! for sure!
me too
Yes! He will forever be my husband in my mind 😂😂😂
same.
FOREVER
5 years later...are you still in love?
This Band has made the soundtrack to my life!!!
I have so many memories growing up and listening to HIM.
I still remember the day I seen them in concert for the first time, it will always be one of the greatest moments in my life!!!
His eyes reflect the purness of his soul. We miss you ville come back
That voice those hands, body, and looks Hmmmm everything about Ville is so breathtaking..🖤🔥🖤🔥
I agree...his voice, his eyes, his smile and his HANDS ... His hands.... 😍
Wow.... 5:50 on the dot.... Ville's face and reaction when the interviewer doesn't get the reference to John DeLorean getting ropped by the feds with a suitcase full cocaine and the interviewer thinking that Ville is talking about Back to the Future is HILARIOUS and shows how much of a badass rockstar Ville has always been.
right? intelligent, gorgeous, AND he reads books -- i am in LOVE
Who else loved Venus Doom the most???
Timi T. Yea that song is a masterpiece. Some very cryptic messages in it it also is one of the few songs not based around love just straight up Doom, I think HIM should explore more with Doom metal.Sleepwalking past hope, cyanide sun, love in cold blood, venus doom, SOO many good songs. I could listen to it from front to back. Also I love their newest songs Hearts at war and Lips go blue. They are one of the few bands IMO that get better as time goes on. Whats your favorite album or song?
Timi T. I was surprised screamworks didn't get more love. It had some of the best showcases ever (talent wise) especially vocally. I'm surprised Ville didn't lose his voice completely recording that album lol In venere veritas is crazy good as well as Like Saint Valentine, shatter me with hope and arms of rain. I think it's because they picked scared to death to be their single which didn't represent the album well In my opinion. Very poppy single. I think i see your point haha They should appeal more to the prog/doom/metal audience cuz honestly they are VERY talented and should be more highly regarded musicians . I get mad because everyone thinks Dark light was their peak even though they released much better stuff since then.
I hated that album lol
I'm still obsessed with that album.
@@xcosme91 I love the psychedalic feel to deep shadows at the moment..VD is awesome too👍
Finnish people are so gorgeous.
Lana Howard Thank you, i' m from finland
That makes zero sense. They're literally absolutely not all attractive. Who even says shit like this seriously...and why
Isnt he somewhat Hungarian too though?
Sometimes, only sometimes💙💚💛💜

Discovered Him in like 2003-2004 and it's been my favorite band ever since.
I can NEVER get enough of VILLE !!!! :D
I love how he talks about Screamworks with such pride. It is one of my favorite HIM albums and I can listen to it on repeat. Scared to Death, Disarm Me, and In Venere Veritas are my absolute favorites.
IMO those songs you mentioned are the best songs on the album the others are ok
Wish more people would realize how great this band is, they deserve more recognition. I'm a fan for life and i hope they are safe in this crazy year of 2020
Seriously, what is so great about this band? I can't even put a label on this band as well as i can't decide if they are EMO or not!
Yeah, it doesn't really matter, right?
Look, the reason most of all of why i really do not like this band personally, is because i was going through sexual confusion in my teenage years, and my head was in a right mess because of this lunatic "Love Metal" band!
You might not like my reason why i don't like this band, but there you have it... That's the reason, okay!
@@ProjectCreativityGuy96 I think you're not just confused with your life but also with the band itself. This band was from mid 90s, when glam rock was on rise in northern europe and a lot of bands came. It was on peak till mid 2000s. A lot of people confused some pop rock music of usa (besides some good less known bands usa mainstream of rock was no more actual rock)... After those people rose in fame some people came up with gothic style and with some newer (and quite better) American bands like blink 182, my chemical romance "emo" was out in 2005 and at its peak in 2007. If I remember right even jared leto was doing rock with his brother and was great. However, nordic bands and clothing style was always there evolved from way earlier bands.
TL;DR: Don't shape your life upon commercialised mainstream stuff lol.
I loved this interview. For the first time I find stuff I never knew before (Ville tends to repeat himself in interviews - he, ofcourse, isn't to blame since they ask him the same things over and over again) and I like the fact that he's being honest on everything, you can tell that he speaks his mind without cencoring himself.
I agree, Love Metal and Venus Doom are two of their best albums.
And damn, he looks sooooo gorgeous- I felt like a teenage groupie again. I love HIM and him, forever.
Thanks Loudwire for this interview! Its the best Ville interview that i've watched and i've seen several!
I love these longer interviews with Ville. Wish there were more of them 🖤✌️
Good interview. Zero levels of awkwardness. Educational and fun. Nice job.
Quite ironically enough, it was in the throes of love, my then girlfriend that showed me HIM, and they've been my favorite band for nine years now. I saw them at their last show in Philly in 2017, April, Phil, and Bam were all there. I learned about so many artists from HIM, I have that same Nephilim shirt for that reason. I thank HIM for everything I listen to now.
"A couple of good songs" on Screamworks? That album is start to finish amazing
"Here's to the pain in light kf the incoming train. Come on. Ode to solitude and..."
It’d be absolutely amazing if Ville ever began writing poetry books and began publishing them. I’d buy every single one Of them it’d be so interesting getting to read poems written by Ville. Although HiM broke up I still plan on getting a heartagram tattoo with HiM written underneath it ❤️
I've loved HIM for many years. Ville Valo is still beautiful
I love the spontanaety of Ville's voice (and range and depth, of course), and I like him as a person. :)
Damn. Been listening almost 20 years, thank you for existing
Good interview. The music evolved through the years, but the legacy remains.
I really liked that guy, Graham Hartmann, who made the interview. Unlike most of the other interviewers he seems very interested in Ville's thoughts and answers. It was actually more like watching a nice chat video rather than a usual Q&A.
For me it really feels like Graham really just talks and has a chat with Ville not like doing an interview.
Wait Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights was considered a failure? I adore that album.
I love it too
Yeah they do consider it a failure when many of us loved the shit outta this. It's still my favourite album.
I love it too. Not a failure in my opinion.
I adore all their albums, the only failure was when they split.
I’ve never been disappointed by a HIM album.
His voice!! I would love to have him on the phone.. one of those conversations where a person just rambles on, and you already lie in bed and 3 hours have past, but you don’t want to hang up, because it’s all so comfortable.. something like that. LoL
i bet he gets alittle annoyed when people keep mentioning bam and HIM
Great interview, Valo is always fun to listen to. Thanks for the upload.
Ville Valo is the most interesting person.
I've even seen him drink Dos Equis...
Its crazy to think Im about to turn the same age as Ville when I saw him in Funeral of hearts video.. he was 25/26 in that video and Im about the turn 26 in August.. can´t believe its been 13 years already since that day. I was 12 going on 13 when i first heard and saw a music video hahaha
Very informative. LOVE HIM. for the past 8 years! Ville has a great voice in speaking and singing. Just love it.
This whole band is amazing ive been listening since 2003. ❤🤟
Sh*t that is so cool to see this, thanks for the interview! Big respect! And all the best to Ville and the rest of the band!
Ville Valo wearing FIELDS of the NEPHILIM tshirt... amazing!
watching this now makes me sad :-(
Great interview. I've watched it many times. Ville is still lovely and as gorgeous as ever.
Great interview! Ville amazing artist! A true rockstar! My inspiration for so many years.
Great interviw! Ville was so awesome as always and the questions were good, better than other recent interviews. Ville's lookin fine, put on some weight and has bigger arms
Ville is such a beautiful man.
Ashley Kobleur as a straight male...I still agree lol
Ashley Kobleur he's a dude, just a dude..relax with the "creature" shit.
Yes 😍
Yeah, is so yummy 😋😏😍
Truly beautiful to look at no doubt lol but also a genuine and beautiful soul
Oh wow...how could I've missed this interview ? He's such a great dude.
He is out of any competition....simply the outmost!!!!
Oh wow. I love ville valo and I'm addicted to HIM.
The most amazing interview ever! Live long & prosper.
Thank you!
That part about Bam Margera thinking "Disarm Me With Your Loneliness" is about him had me cracking up because not only does Ville has such a contagious laugh, but just the ridiculousness of it!! Also, Ville seems like such a down to earth guy and it's that simplicity of he and all the rest of the band that makes me such a huge fan of HIM. That, and I can also relate to their image, which again it's not fashionist, and their music. Ville is a very talented singer, he's has a great singing voice and he and the band are soo in syng together which is what makes them just totally awesome.
~always a HIM fan~
“We’ll see. It’s not over yet…” 😭🖤
Welp, I know, right? T____T
Once again, Graham proves he's one of the best music interviewers in the business. He did his research (did you see him geeking out over the record label?) and will let the interviewer TALK!
Fantastic interview! Relieved they're still active at least.
Dark Light was the first album I had by them and I used to play it as I went to sleep. 🖤🖤🖤 Love these guys
H.I.M. will always be the best band ever, gosh I really hope Ville Valo will have or has new ideas for a new album. I'm going to keep my faith that they will create a new album, I can't bring myself to believe that they are done.. not yet..
thank you so much for this interview . Ville is such a beautiful beast lol 😁😍
2017 watching ths, ths was really 2 yrs ago? Glad to see he looks healthy
Great interview ! Ville is a down to earth person and i love his music.
Thanks Loudwire for filming this. X
That was absolutely amazing! I am going to have a great day now.
greet Brandon Novak from me. Cheers
Good to see a an interesting, well researched and professional interview. Great job!
Thoroughly enjoyed this interview learnt a lot and valos inspiration for the album's was amazing to hear. Really chilled and watchable. When I here HIM I always return to being that 13 year old teen. ❤️
Ville you are thee sh*t!!! I can't believe ive been listening to HIM for more then 10 years and still have yet to go to a HIM down.... HIM concert. Lol. Peace n love my ninjas!
I was introduced to H.I.M. by Smallville when they played a version of their Wicked Game. Since then I was hooked.
Mmm notice on 39:19 he looks like he's so uncomfortable with the question he forgets to drink the water ,,king of analysis
Hahahah I just saw that. That was awkwardly funny. Ville was like... Cmon man... hahah.
@15:13 awesome insight! “There’s no secret handshake…” lol. Awesome presentation Loudwire!
PS STABBING WESTWARD FAWKIN ROCKS!
Also, I’m here in Canada and we have a lot of multiculturalism. I really enjoy learning/interpreting different body languages and subtle differences between people with different languages…what I noticed with Mr Valo is his ideas transcend language if that makes sense. I’m so used to speaking with Swedish/Polish/Afghan etc people and they all say they don’t like not being able to articulate what they mean precisely into that chaotic dialect of English that’s VERY tough to learn. BUt Valo here never struggles. I know it may seem like a stupid point to bring up but it really is something special.
Thank you so much for uploading this
THIS man =
I really miss him and HIM.
Documentary..? More of a chronological interview without any far end nuances, But I think that's how it is with HIM. The band, their music and lyrics are about far ends, but their life's not. It's good not to try pull out some tabloid stuff, since the only shaky thing seems to be what Bam has to say...
I think HIM isn't dangerous. Denying addiction and finding another way to go around it.. it almost sounded that it was sort of something to be "ashamed of", hence him to feel uncomfortable of the whole question. That's the opposite from the shock value most rock bands tell/sell their story.
Nice way to sum up their career to this point (not much new information, but still cozy conversation), and in the end returning to beginning... Of the end? Hope not! Gas found a another direction, what will happen to HIM?
What a beautiful guy! What a great voice!💜
i love when he says "Dario Argento"!!!!thanks great interview guys!!
My favorite band of all time!!
i will always adore this man.
This is so awesome!!! HIM WILL ALWAYS BE AN ICONIC BAND!!!!
great interview, looking forward to new music from Him.
Great interview! Thanks! Live long and prosper!
He seems like such a cool, down to earth dude.
really good interview.. thought id get bored watching but nah man kept me there the whole time, really good music knowledge on the interviewer too!
Good stuff :)
Such a wonderful interview :) Very interesting and loved how they went through each album all the way up till now. I must say Venus Doom is my favourite album by HIM it was the album that got me in to the band I still love all their albums in their own way. Such an incredible hard working band they have deserved every bit of their success :)
Totally LOVED it! I cannot choose which one is my fave album, I love them all! That's why there exist Greatest hit albums too haha.
its a fantastic band. i have find a video suddenly this year and was very impressed of the emotions
He’s a philosopher.
Wonderful interview. Thank you so much for this. :)
@30:26-30:40 I was always curious about his name. I like the eclecticism of HIM and Ville's interests.
So cool that HIM is a fan of Type O Negative! I love them too!
Awesome!!! Thank you guys!! Great interviewer too !
This was wonderful, thank you!
His voice… still all these years later
Deep shadows is a lot better than he gives it credit for.
Agreed
Love how he really knows his music. No posing here.
Thank you for the interview
Loved this so much. kiitos paljon! xxx
