  • The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Supporting Others video series is designed to empower volunteer and paid staff to provide on the job developmental support to others. The videos can be used in both informal development contexts and formal mentoring, facilitation and educator training programs.
Some of the most insightful learning people can have comes from reflecting on their experience, seeking deeper insight into what worked for them, what didn't, and what it all means for improving performance in the future. The GRIP feedback model can be used after observing a coach or official in practice and allows you to guide them through a process of reflection on their experience and to generate their own insights. The process of self-realisation increases the likelihood that the person will learn more from that experience than if you had just provided your observations and suggestions as feedback.
'Feedforward' offers another way of thinking about how you share your perspective with the person you're supporting; it might be easier for them to do something useful with your perspective if it is oriented towards the future than what has just happened.
