I love these deep dives into the best of cinema...truly Die Hard can’t be labeled as the greatest Christmas film anymore because of the rediscovering of this triumph in film
Insightful, Capitalism-critiquing yet also festive and comically bad Christmas special that somehow manages to still partly include daddies and assorted daddy issues. This is the kind of material I want out of my TH-camrs, goddamnit.
I wish you touched more on the spying and note keeping he did to the neighborhood kids. Those scenes are super creepy and really make you think about the stalker side of Santa.
I love low budget movies of this time. They very often have an interesting message that's muddled by lack of money and people who have never done movies before. It's such a treat. This one isn't my favorite Christmas horror movie (That's Black Christmas), but it's up there. :)
Awesome movie rec! Def gonna check it out. We tend to get caught up in thinking sometimes that all this dystopian shit we live in today slip passed previous generations of pop culture but dumpster fires like this prove that the horrible workings of capital and its urgent need to be eradicated and replaced with something more sustainable was obvious enough even for b movies. Definitely love your work and your awesome takes, and would love it if you make an essay about Ed Wood and his awesome yet disastrous cinema career because I'm pretty sure that in a world without capitalism his movies would have been much better produced and his queer elements much better received. Saludos desde Honduras, happy new year!
I fucking hate the new YT layout. Some videos have the date next to the view count, and some older videos just removed it entirely. God dammit, TH-cam.
Oh wow, this actually looks good. I am surprised, I always thought it was the cheap version of Silent Night, Deadly Night (which is also surprisingly well made).
Yep, yet another obscure movie (from my perspective) to add to my list. Obviously there is no point in recommending to you "Os trapalhoes na guerra los planetas" (the Brazilian "Star Wars") because I'm pretty sure you will know of it already. Ah well. Thanks though for the increasing list of things that I must now see.
You didn't mention this and I don't see it in the comments, so could I possibly be the first one to tell you the mother of the would - be Penthouse subscriber was played by Patricia Richardson of Home Improvement?
I feel the need to fill in the story a bit. I rented this (at a video store!) with some friends. We'd started deliberately seeking out terrible movies. When we saw this one on the shelf it was a sure bet. But when we brought it to the guy working the counter, he was like "you guys like bad movies?" Laughing we all said "Yeah!" He paused momentarily, then said "this one's... different." When that van flew, I think my adolescence officially ended.
Ashamed to admit this BUT I spent most of my younger days devouring crap like this at the drive-in. Made me realize that I would grow up with no real life 🤠
I actually like this movie a lot. I don't really understand the psychology of why seeing his dad in a Santa suit having sex with his mom makes him completely obsessed with Santa Claus his entire life though.
*sigh* So many youtube shows about bad vhs ephemera. What about other formats? There's plenty of crap on HD-DVD. Peter Jackson's King Kong? It's like Christmas Evil but without being watchable.
“...uses children as a human shield, Just like Dumbledore!” It’s funny because it’s true!
'I Wish I Had A Lifetime Subscription to Penthouse' is the grossest Christmas song ever
Apparently John Waters is a huge fan of this movie. That’s probably the best summarization of the movie’s tone I can come up with.
Need to run out to the Blockbuster to rent this now!!
I never realized how disturbing changing the vowel sound of Santa’s laugh could be.
"Garbage Day!!!"
Oops, wrong Christmas killer movie series from the 80's.
I love these deep dives into the best of cinema...truly Die Hard can’t be labeled as the greatest Christmas film anymore because of the rediscovering of this triumph in film
6:59 "oh i'm pooped. ah!" was wayyy too funny

Only available in 480p, like all the best bootleg videos!
I wish you touched more on the spying and note keeping he did to the neighborhood kids. Those scenes are super creepy and really make you think about the stalker side of Santa.
I love that the aspect ratio of this video is from the VHS era as well. Meta.
4:3 FTW. 1600x1200 wuz robbed!
@@FunkyM217 Apple are keeping that ratio alive with the iPad - looking forwards to 20 years ago!!!
Wait....Santa didn't leave handprints and kissy lips on your house? I'm so sorry for your childhood Maggie.
I love coming back and watching this video during Christmas.
Was going to bed, but Daddy demands my attention
Not to sound TH-cam cliched .., but , indeed this is the most underrated channel and i love your commentary Maggie .. Thanks for being RAD! cheers
This must be the bast movie because you look so happy in the thumbnail.
You have a twisted sense of humor and I LIKE IT! Save Martha!
Glad to see a review of this movie. Definitely a movie more people should see.
omg! "Shrek it out" is my new favorite thing that I am going to wish everyone this holiday season!
I love these. It's nice to balance them with longer form essay content. Save Martha!
The "I didn't know you could make a movie like that" line was so funny I almost spit out my drink
I got this movie in a cardboard sleeve from the dollar store and absolutely loved it.
If thats the G-body creeper van, that's high creeper taste
the best performance I have seen in a B-movie should be an Oscar category.

Omg from The start that picture makes me smile maggie mae is awesome
That security guard isn't taking anyone's guff. Honestly, give me a movie with that guy foiling some classic horror badguys.
This movie is Dennis pragers fears of a future where we all say happy holidays, and that’s why I love it already
It's like this film filled out your film bingo card! Awesome.
"I'm sure you won't believe me, and I'm sure you'll look it up for yourself"
I wasn't going to do that until you mentioned it.
At last, someone brings up Fiona Apple and that someone isn't me.
You had me at *lights in hair* ♥️
I do movie nights and watched this one last holiday season, it is indeed very good and strange
Wait was this video shot in 4x3?

Thank you, Santa, it's just what I wanted!

*googles 'Fiona Apple'...
"ohhhhh"
*googles 'Who is Fiona Apples Dad?'
"Wowwwww!!!"
Bought the blu-ray last year from Vinegar Syndrome. Looks fantastic. Glad it's finally getting the love it deserves.
8:40 Maggie: if you want to send me a weird vhs movie or letter... Me: Girl don’t say that on the internet!
Forgot to mention that the mom from Home Improvement has a small role in this too.
I thought I recognized her!
I should really get my parents that subscription to penthouse magazine... eh Ill do it for Christmas next year.
Now this is a Christmas movie that I'm DYING to see!
i knew this movie was going to be wild as soon as i saw that kinky santa roleplay scene. now i gotta see if thats really fiona apples pop.
Oh wow, this actually looks good. I am surprised, I always thought it was the cheap version of Silent Night, Deadly Night (which is also surprisingly well made).
The fact that you have a patron named Christopher Rice disturbs me, and I don't know why...
wow, this movie is very dark, and by that i mean visually. it's 90% shadows
This movie looks amazing 🎅🔪🛩️
I love Christmas
I clicked on this because I had to know the context of that ridiculous face you're making in the thumbnail. Did not disappoint. Tricksy!
Well I'm pooped - Wahhhhh!
If you still do these, I would love to see you take on Flesh Eating Mothers. The full movie is on TH-cam.
0:15
Be honest. How much of making this video was just saying that?
Watching this in September🤷🏾♂️
Welcome to maggie's vhs wuh-ohs
It feels like the editor of this film had narcolepsy.
That wasn't Luke Wilson?
Good video this movie is interesting.
How does this compare to Black Christmas 1974?
Christmas Evil is good by accident. Black Christmas is just good!
That looked so insane lol

No way. I have seen this movie!

nice
It's either horribly wonderful or wonderfully horrible. Either way, it's great.
You should do a collab show with Red Letter Media! I think itd be hilarious
Do you ever go fishing? You're clearly allowed :D I'll see myself out.
I actually like this movie a lot.
I don't really understand the psychology of why seeing his dad in a Santa suit having sex with his mom makes him completely obsessed with Santa Claus his entire life though.
fg perhaps his mother didn’t show him much affection, and he was so mentally unstable that he thought the only way to receive love was to become Santa
Sandor Enckell why blame the mom?
I was in a band with Fiona Apple's cousin. I'm 3 degrees away from the star of this blockbuster film!
🎵⁉️‼️‼️
Hey 1980, my year of birth, I take that as a sign! ...hehehe.. humhum..hee...hahahaha....muhahahahaaa .......
we brits call this a video nasty
Yaay!
*sigh*

💖 🌲
MOSS GARCIA!!!!!!!!!!
The most horrible Christmas movie villain of all time
Yet another movie that Joker ripped off...
For a toxic Feminist, you're a very pretty girl.
