- In this video i´m restoring an old pocket knife usualy used by electricians.
Found this pocket knife in my grandpas toolbox. The edge of the blade was completly dull and rusty. I think the poor state of the edge was caused by years of stripping of power cables. It was possibly the main tool my grandpa used to electrify his house. Unfortunately i needed to destroy the wooden handle parts to get access to the inner mechanics of the knife. Because of that i made some new handles out of high grade plywood. I made them a bit thicker to get a better grip an the knife. Also they look realy nice.
I happen to have this exact knife, also from my Grampa, who was also an electrician. I'm currently in the process of restoring it (waiting on some Brass round for rivet pinning) and this video is the only resto on youtube for this knife so thank you for sharing your restoration journey, it's been a big help getting mine ready for restoration.
Beautiful work.
Love that you did the restoration with tools I actually own or could afford. A nice change from most restoration videos I've seen.
Nice project ! 😀
Great job, and thank you.
Mad respect for someone who did all this with hand tools. That plywood handle came out looking real nice
Thank you! I realy like my handtools but for bigger projects like the firemans axe it's sometimes difficult not to get frustrated ;)
Beautiful. The love for the craft is extremely visible.
Well done.
Never seen just finished clean to that extent!
Interesting handle!
Wowie Zowie! What a magnificent restoration job. Real magic - nice.
Klasse ! Gut gemacht ! Danke für den Film !
Appreciate the huge effort you put into the video change-ups and editing. This made it much more interesting than the usual presentation of putting the camera on a tripod and letting it run. Liked that you kept the work feel to the knife makeover too. Grandpa, for sure, gives you a thumbs up!
Thanks : ) The shooting of the video was a lot of fun. Glad you like it!
saw this knife in excellent condition on a flea market very cheap, the dealer said, its an older version of the actual Bundeswehr Elektrikermesser, a wiring tool knife from the german army. Maybe made til the 1970s.
Great Job! Thank you for sharing!
I wanted to give you some support for choosing the Baltic Plywood for the handle scales. That adds a ton of character! Bravo!
Loved watching this. Thanks for the inspiration. Love the plywood too. Nice touch.
That was very enjoyable to watch, thank you.
Very good restoration bro 👍👍👍👍
Excellent work, what wood do you use for the scales? greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
I have that knife. It came with a set of lineman's pliers and a leather holster that secured the 2 tools. It allegedly was a Norwegian Army lineman's kit.
Cool!
Very good work, keep it up!
Thank you :)
Excelent job,,,,,bro,,
Thank god a knife restoration video where someone actually gave the proper blade a hand rubbed satin finish. Hallelujah praise the fucking lord, most of these troglodytes just go to down on these vintage knives with their granddad's shitty buffing wheel with metal polish. Fantastic job.
Good job! By the way, it is Casio F-91W?)
plywood. good idea
Very nice job and you're right but that's a German electricians knife I have one just like it mint condition they're very expensive to even the replicas are very expensive so I would say you did a very nice job restoring that thing
Thank you :)
Did you peen the ends of the pins??? if not, won't the scales start to separate eventually?
Nowt like a nice sharp chisel.
А что за нож? У меня такой же лежит не могу узнать что за Фирма
Hallo! Kenst du auch Deutsch oder Russisch. Weil Ich ferstee kein Englisch.
Я бы не делал накладки из фанЭры..
Only needed a touch of WD40.😂
👍😎🍺🍕🔪
might be good to do another one of these with more refined technique
That´s the plan. This Knife was more of a proof of concept :)
Plywood isnt really a good choice.
That's what you have to add here? Dang, you are a huge pap smear.
