The interviewers displayed lack of knowledge of the criminal justice or investigation process. It's unfortunately, the typical way an average police man thinks and also the average as well. That's why the law has no banned arrest by proxy. That's son of Mr A commits a crime that Mr A knows nothing about and then U arrest Mr A in place of son demanding that he produces the son.
Shockingly, a top retired army general and a former CDS Will come on national TV and endorse collective punishment of citizens for the alleged criminal acts of few. Is there vicarious liability in criminal law? It means there's still a very long way to go in making the army submit to rule of law and respect for civil liberties of Nigerians

The rotating wallpaper background of your previous guests is redundant and gives your studio a cheap view and poor eye taste.
The less pictures on the wall and more lighting of the studio will enhance the look and rich quality of your studio.
CNN and other world news stations do change the appearance of their studios from time to time.
Hope you take my observation into consideration. Thank you and best wishes.

Normally, the army/security forces infractions are never talked about, it is the response of the civilians that would be brought to light and civilians vilified.
Look at the attack on Nnamdi Kanu's home, the attack on Barister Ejiofor's home, Lekki toll gate shootout and many more.

This Chamberlain simply needs to learn how to do his job. How is it the responsibility of people to provide the culprits? Let the police do their job, as for the army, it is no news that in the main the Nigerian army from top to bottom is the most indisciplined organization ever.
It is systemic & cultural, they behave like an army of occupation, they have no idea of how to comport themselves in a democracy.
Meanwhile these are people paid, maintained and trained on public funds.
That officer who went to act as an enforcer at the plaza & his boss the brigade commander are the same.

Imagine its not even the army guys that bought they phone but they wore uniforms to go and intimidate pple to force them to change phone. • @lumen-rationis

The military lacked any legal authority to shut down any business because some service men were beaten. This is completely a police matter. Only the police have legal authority to intervene in any issue. In any lawful society, the police would have arrested those military personnel stopping business at the plaza. But, Nigeria Police is too weak.

  • @patrickizuchukwu9882

It is sparking outrage because it happened in Abuja...the military have been in this mess for a long time. For goodness sake why insulting the revered Nigerian army by going to settle a business transaction in the market without official mandate by the army? So the army should be abusing their uniforms? Do you know how many people they have beaten up and intimidated in the markets around the country? I thought they are trained to know the law, this is not a war zone so why involvement of the army? Why running away with a new phone? What right has the army to lock down the plaza? As FCT minister or president? On what capacity? These are issues that should be followed legally. Nigerians are very angry and any little move of intimidation can instigate violence. Let the police handle the matter with intelligence, proper investigations and possibly prosecutions. Nigerians used to love and respect the army untill they resorted to all these road extortions like police, going to fight in the markets for their girlfriends, making arrests over civil matters and setting villages on fire when they suffer casualty instead of fishing out the culprits thereby killing or punishment innocent ones....

Nigeria is a mighty lawless country. Why does the army involve itself in civilian matters? Any army personnel involved should face disciplinary action. The issue is within the criminal jurisdiction of the Nigeria police. The Nigerian army has no business in policing function. The army should not be getting involved in civil dispute. Too much indiscipline in the army really. For an organization that prides itself on discipline, this is a massive embarrassment. It’s almost as if they have nothing better to do. The army ought to engage its personnel in national security engagement in Sambisa Forrest & other hotspots. Too much idleness in the military.

The plaza should be open let the wanted ones be punished either they come to their shops and get arrested or they voluntarily close their shops.

Continue apologising with the wrongs of your military; we are not serious in Nigeria 🇳🇬

The question of whether they have gone to the Nigerian Army to apologize has nothing to do with this case, the uniform men that followed the buyer of the phone to the market are the main cause of this issues here. Is Army now doing the work of police? Why will they leave barrack or Army checkpoint where they're ment to be to follow a man to fight in civil matter, when we're not into war?. It is only in African Army will wear uniform and carry guns and other weapons to go fight against innocent civilians. They should stop creating problem in society. Enough of all these nonsense in our country.

What happens if a military officer decides to use his uniform and rifle to rob innocent citizens and in the process killed via self defense by someone with a plank? Will the military establishment go after the killer?
Much respect to the Nigerian military but I believe that they act like some demigods most of the time and feel like they are above the law.
They can not create job but are now disturbing the peace of those doing genuine business.

Nigeria media is useless. So what if it’s military? Does military have rules or are they above the law? Is Nigeria army the police? Why would an army officer go to enforce law? Nigeria has become a sick joke.

He his right for saying whatever thing. It is whatever thing. The Army is breaking the law, and you are talking like they are right. The Army does not have the right to arrest. They can detain but not arrest because we are not under Marshall Law. The police should be investigating the issue not the Army. Army persons are not ab9ve the law and by the way I am a retired Army myself but I will j9t support injustice.

I m disappointed in opara talking like this I always respected you, you said those people doesn’t have shop there that is means you guys know them, you said the other person run with the phone, how? And you said police came there and wanted to resolve the issue but the army’s refuse which is right because the one with the has came with a military police which is he want dialogue, look in bex these guys sales with a lot of fade things and collected money because I was a victim of that and because I can’t do them anything I just have to move on, I can tell you that some shop owners in the benex knows they sales fade things but will still keep it and sale it to people which is wrong.

Suleiman or whatever your name is, you're an eye service journalist. That someone is military personnel does not give that person an edge over ordinary citizens. A military who dabbled into a civil matter which he or she ought not have, could be killed and nothing will happen. The army boys went there on illegal duty.

These journalist dont even listen, they just talk because they have microphone in front of them. Secondly is the military establishment above the law. The matter was brought before the appropriate authority to intervene snd investigate in civilian matters. Does wearing a uniform mean absolute power. Please don't present such journalist before the public anymore. It is Insulting the Nigerian.
