Sam Riegel created him and is truly the only actor that could pull off the confidence, cunning, talent, and free spiritedness that comes from Scanlan Shorthalt
Fun fact, Brimscythe here *is* a member of the Chroma Conclave...and he's definitely the youngest. Don't let his human form fool you, Umbrasyl is a "young adult" dragon, basically the dragon equivalent of a 20-something. He's barely 100, maybe 200 years old tops. The rest of the Conclave are all ancients, ranging from 800-1000 years old each.
I knew the general was the dragon almost right off the bat for one thing it seemed to uncanny of how the dragon looked as if it was expecting them to show up
Fun fact. I did the math per 5e rules and only required two assumptions. 1. The party is all the same level (having their minimum possible level based on the spells we see) 2. Every roll was a max damage crit. Assuming both of those things, killing an adult blue dragon (yes he was only adult and not ancient) was entirely possible within the rules.
Bro, normally i don't like animated series like animes or something but this show is by far one of the best series i've ever saw and i only saw 2 episodes for now. Love the music of it.
Simple, make them much harder to kill. We saw in the trailer that Grog's axe broke when he tried hitting them, a problem he didn't have here. A line about their scales being harder the older they get would work.
That was related to blue dragons....not all dragons. Also, this dragon is a young adult I believe (so about CR 16). The others in the Chroma Conclave are old to ancient (CR 21-25).
dragons dont do great when there are too many targets to kill then they get overwhelmed by the large army that keeps bringing in more units for the battle
The Cgi for brymscithe seemed a bit chompy like they were getting the hang of it but loved the fight though and the later model of the dragons in season 2 was really great and smooth

Anyone notice how the dragon & his human form share a square jawline?
This show took me about 3 minutes to get addicted.
I knew the general was the dragon almost right off the bat for one thing it seemed to uncanny of how the dragon looked as if it was expecting them to show up
Fun fact. I did the math per 5e rules and only required two assumptions.
1. The party is all the same level (having their minimum possible level based on the spells we see)
2. Every roll was a max damage crit.
Assuming both of those things, killing an adult blue dragon (yes he was only adult and not ancient) was entirely possible within the rules.
He was adolescent not fully adult, so you can cut the HP total in half probably.
I want season 3 so bad 😩
Meanwhile, through this is the Theme Music Powerup... :-)
Abby and Ellie teaming up to take down a dragon
3:53 scanlans hand!
If you listen they have a really heavily modified version of Your Turn To Roll in this scene as heavy metal background music...
Bro, normally i don't like animated series like animes or something but this show is by far one of the best series i've ever saw and i only saw 2 episodes for now. Love the music of it.
That "gotcha" gives me chills
Grog is being polite
He was going to rage anyway
Great fight scene! I just wish they could have looted the entire lair 🤣
I'm curious how their going to explain how they can't simply repeat the same "twin rivers" trick with the other dragons in season 2
Simple, make them much harder to kill. We saw in the trailer that Grog's axe broke when he tried hitting them, a problem he didn't have here. A line about their scales being harder the older they get would work.
yea, this was an adult dragon. the ones in season two are are ancient
That was related to blue dragons....not all dragons.
Also, this dragon is a young adult I believe (so about CR 16). The others in the Chroma Conclave are old to ancient (CR 21-25).
ITs fun that at 3:45 its a D20 that Scanlan breaks
dragons dont do great when there are too many targets to kill then they get overwhelmed by the large army that keeps bringing in more units for the battle
The Cgi for brymscithe seemed a bit chompy like they were getting the hang of it but loved the fight though and the later model of the dragons in season 2 was really great and smooth
4:23 what a natural 20 looks and feels like
And this, my friends is why I always play the barbarian :)
That rock turning into a d20 for a split second before Vax slits the dragons throat is such a lovely little detail
Random thought: Travis Willingham must look like a beast in the recording booth while working on Grog lines. :)
At 4:24... Hey big guy...Dragon's getting real low.
Best serie, for me!
Looking forward for sesson 3
yes yes i want season 2.
👍It’s already been renewed!👍
I hope there will be a Season 3 and more seasons to come hehe
@@heroic6815 yes its cool show i never saw one like it maybe invincible i cant wait for ot season2
3:47 anyone else thinks this rock scanlan destroys looks like the 20 dice’s players roll in DnD? If it was intentional thats a very neat detail.
I'd love to see an edit of this where someone describes in D&D terms what everyone is doing. I mean...yeah. I can see what they're doing. But people make Smash Bros edits. This could get someting similar.
I actually think these is someone doing this. I've seen some of their videos, but I can't remember the name
You mean like a comparison of the players taking their actions/turns and lining it up with this video? Yeah that would be cool
@@TheCart54321 The series is called Table to Screen, but I'm not sure if this fight was done yet.
3:45 did somebody drop d20 on Vax in the game?
I absolutely adore the pepperboxes design.
I love vox machina the whole show but u got to admit the fight scenes the music. I just love it I’ve watched this scene so many times
If only fights in D&D were actually this cool.
Alright actually we did fight a blue dragon at level 18 or so and it was pretty dope.
The fights are only as cool as you make them. Maybe not as cinematic, but you can go far with just creative descriptions
@@privpi Oh for sure. And with a group that's into cool cinematic descriptions, we do. But in mixed groups, it's harder to pull off consistently.
Also, nothing in the game itself supports or even encourages that, you have to bring it yourself.
3 am people vox machina new episodes and i am so excited to see grog snag some vestiges and get his muscles back
We want season 2
WE'RE GETTING SEASON 2!
This show is absolutely phenomenal
" I... WOULD LIKE... TO..... *RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGE* "
Still gives me goose bumps like when I watched it on stream! Love the anime adaptation...
but Brimscythe was pre-streaming...? it happened before Kraghammer, which was Ep1 onward
@@gfdx3214 I’m wondering if they got it confused with the dragons they faced later
WHEN WILL THE NEXT SEASON COME OUT?
I admit I say Scanlans hand in my everyday life more than I should.
David Tennant can never resist to voice a psycho who turns himself into a “God”, can he?
Scanlan's Hand!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite part. I didn't realize it at the time but Scanlan had already become my favorite at this moment
My favorite part out of the fight😭😭
Light him up, Vex!!
"I.....WOULD LIKE...TO....RAAAAAAAAAAGE!"
best line in the whole episode
Me meeting Travis: I would like to squee! Travis proceeded to laugh!
When Grog raaaaaaage hell yeah dope🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love this whole sequence.
Wow that was awesome, surly dragons won’t be an issue for vox machina going forward…
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO poor Brymscythe :(
