No they shouldn’t, it could have an issue with the gear box. Also, take the brushes off and check the pins that hold the plastic sleeves on the gear box shaft, sometimes they will sheer.
Ok excellent! The tines are not spinning when the engine is off. The transmission seems to be ok. The engine idles just fine, but was bogging down when you give it gas. Checked the spark arrestor and it’s clean, examined both sides of the piston, and it looks to be in great condition. Fuel lines are clean. Carb is clean. Gonna readjust the throttle cable and see if that does it.
Great video and very informative .... I have a M55 and at the base of the power unit before it gets to the aluminum block..... I have black beads leaking out of a small hole thats pointed down as i idle up....almost like its grinding rubber........... is there a gasket of some kind thats grinding as the shaft turns.? its at the base of the power head plastic?
I was hoping yall can help me here. I was trying to find the part number to a Yard Boss 56 for a spark arrester screen? I tried but I see mostly for like weed eaters and blowers but does the Cultivator use the same Spark arrester scren?
the most common failures with turf installers is getting sand caught in the pull cord rubber bushings... easy fix, but you'll have to do it many many times

Do you prefer one engine model (55vs56) over the other? Is one louder or more fuel efficient than the other in your experience? Thanks again!
I prefer the MM55, there were far less issues. They are pretty equal on fuel and noise. Unfortunately the 55 is longer available.

Nice video, my mm56 I noticed the engine assembly can be rotated on what ever it is mounted on. Can this be tightened up easily?
Yes, There are 4 bolts on the bottom side of the engine housing.

Can the power head be swapped with another size?
