Making this dish every night since a week... my new favorite pork recipe... and please also do arunachal style pork... 26 plus tribes here, each with their own unique dishes...
Ok so this is my all time favorite and one of my tribe's signature dish called Myoko Kaji... but 1st you will need to let 250 gms of pork meat & fat sit in your fridge for a minimum of 2 months... the older the better... Step 1 - cut the old pork into bite size pieces and boil it along with 2 inch ginger cut into small pieces for an hour on low to medium flame... Step 2 - Cook local rice in a cooker along with the cooked pork, ginger and its stock... add salt as per taste... 😁
Theres one more signature dish called as Pikke Piila... again u need to store pork for 2 months in your fridge... make sure to keep it in the open and not in any box... Step 1- cut the old pork into bite sized pieces and boil for 30 mins... Step 2- After 30 mins add the fermented bamboo shoots in the same pot.... Step 3- Add the green chillies in the 45 min mark along with salt as per taste.... Step 4- Once the water of the pan is almost dry, add khar as per taste and let it come to a boil and then switch off the flame... the name of this dish comes from khar which is called Piila in my language... 😁
Great to hear that you have tried it!! Thank you so much wmd! If you have clicked a pic do share it snigdhasbioscope@gmail.com will share with the TH-cam family 💕
I love this. I had pork trimmings because that's all that was at the store. Mostly fat and this was a good way to use them up. I did render them down as the first step, then fried the onions in some of that pork fat. Delicious and nutritious. Also, I had some leftover canned tomato sauce so I added a few spoonfuls at the end. Thanks.
Glad you liked it Andra😊 pleasure is all mine. Do check out my channel when you have time and next time if possible share a picture of the dish with me on Instagram or Facebook will share with rest of our TH-cam family✌️ stay safe😷

Hi Rahul! No is neither marinated not boiled, I don't pre boil my pork however you can if you want to for upto 4 whistles with little water or 30mins in water . Let me know if this help
I've made this dish before but I already forgot which cut of pork I used :( which do you use? I remember the pork being very tender and not dry at all after cooking
Arindom if you are asking weather the meat was preboiled than no...the meat is cooked over a low flame over the entire duration of the recipe making all the ingredients seep into the meat which also becomes tender and juicy by then✌️ and stay safe😷
Hi Himanshu! Do you mean if I preboiled? Well then it’s no but slow cooking will make it juicy and tender. However if you wish you can just add very little water and whistle upto 4 times. Hope this helps, do let me know how it goes and thank you so much 😊

I am happy to try new things, but I spent over $20 on ingredients and followed the recipe to a tee. Result was a completely BLAND dish (which I kind of knew would happen given there are limited spices (tumeric!) .... I really also hate reviewers who claim dishes are fantastic when they are in fact far worse than even average. But that's the Internet I guess - all and sundry claiming to be cooks. I could have spent the money on a fabulous Indian dish at my local restaurant. In sum, I got sucked in again ... I am the fool.
Hey Richard! Well unlike rest of India, we hardly use spices in North East India and we enjoy the flavours of each ingredients by itself. If you were expecting something like North or South Indian cuisine than it’s not the kinda cuisine we have. Thanks for trying it out 🙏
I made this dish and the flavours were incredibly deep and robust. Surprisingly sweet and very spicy. I would add an extra onion, extra tomatoes and extra garlic/ginger next time if I were you.
Thank you so much 😊 The simplicity and intensity from the Chilli definitely blends well and so happy to hear from you..keep me posted and do click a pic next time 🙏

Hi. Do we need to boil the pork before putting it in the Kadai ?
Hi Siddhartha! For this dish, I dint however if you prefer you can boil up-to 4 whistles in pressure cooker or 30 minutes without salt
