Always loved this tune from the movie badlands starring Martin Sheen and stacey spibeck. A wonderful piece of music played so well by these young folk.
One of my favorite happy songs is "You're so cool", from Hans Zimmer (True Romance OST) and someone mentioned it is inspired in this piece, so I had to look for it. It's beautiful how one resembles the other without being a copy. It makes me think Zimmer intended to allude to Badlands too. Great performance! Great song!!
Sublime music and a joyous performance. There are several recordings on TH-cam, but this is by far the best. I just listened to it six times in a row and could have kept going. What wonderful sounds these little xylophones created, and the pacing and ensemble were perfect. When I recently heard the piece(s) before finding this video, I tried to pick out how many xylophones were playing. The harmonies are so luscious. I also loved the tympanist's flair -- he was into it. Everyone was wonderful, and the "optics" of the young people and their varied outfits added immensely to the fun. Building on someone else's earlier comment, there was nothing mechanical about the repetition, only an awakening of warm feelings. Thank you, Michael, for posting this tape, and Bravo! Your standing ovation was well deserved. Guess I'll listen to it again.
Very Cool. Bravo the performers. I just showed this to my three young daughters, they were bouncing around the room to it. Its one of those pieces so often used as incidental music in documentaries etc - especially for up lifting scenes and you can see why. Congrats again.
This is one of those songs I've heard now & again over the years, but never knew what it was. Thanks to a late night showing of "Finding Forrester", and my smart phone, I now know the name, and ran across this video. Well done, thanks!
Well played! :-D Each purcusive instrument has a different tonal quality... the blend made for a rich tapestry of sound... the timing and cadence was excellent ..
I know I just commented, but I have become obsessed with Gassenhauer videos this week. Your performance here has to be the most pure, sublime representation of Carl's composition. Again, good work all.
WOW! There's so much about this that I love and appreciate! 1st, that you did this with Orff Schulwerk keyboards while sitting. Sure, you could have done it with a couple of marimbas and a xylophone, but you didn't! 2nd, It's so darn expressive and musical. Nothing mechanical about all the repetition. 3rd, as per the comment below you took someone that's not a mallet player and taught them the part/technique and then put them on stage. Isn't that what pedagogy is all about. I think Mr. Orff would be happy that you did this "children's piece" as a formal recital selection.
Aside from your BRILLIANT performance... I couldn't sit with my legs crossed as I'm a double V guy... plus I can't play the Xylaphone :) Enjoyed that btw.
This was a great arrangement and well played, thank you for sharing. Is the arrangement available anywhere? I'd like to adapt it for handbells and play it in a concert.
@@michaelbarranco First of all. Thanks for answering Michael. Secondly, what I was asking for is: Could you upload this file to any uploading server? Like Mega or something like that. It's just because if I try to download this from youtube it loses quality, and I want to put this on while I'm driving. It's an awesome performance. There's no problem if you can't. I'll download it from youtube and it will be awesome anyway. Greetings from Spain
@@michaelbarranco Spain is suffering but I'm hopeful we will recover like we always did. I hope America makes it great too. Oh, forget about uploading the file. I just downloaded it from youtube and it has decent quality. Keep making music buddy. It's the salt of life.
Found this by looking for sonething other than carmina burana by Orff. Interesting but pan pipes and xylophone types of instrument are not pleasing to my ears.
I've watched this performance several times and like it very much as I stated in an earlier comment. However there is one thing that kind of annoys me, and that is the young lady with black hair behind you looks like she is ready to nod off and fall to the floor at any moment! She really gives the impression she would rather be somewhere else, didn't she realize there was an audience?
+Michael Barranco Well, in that case I should cut her some slack. She did seem to play well and maybe she will be more at ease in the future. Once again loved the performance and wish you the best of luck in your music career.
Absolutely delightful. Could listen to this over and over again. Good to see young people playing such good music.

Did a human create/ compose this masterpiece? How??
Hans Newsidler had something to do with it, and sources indicate that he may have been human. How? Probably with a lute.

What? Do You agree with the plagiarism?
Um, Orff is NOT Zimmer. This Orff piece was played in movie, ‘Badlands’. Zimmer was played in “True Romance”.

And they haven’t even known it!
