TH-cam has the most sane ones but they're still pretty bad when all they watch is Hoyo content creators. And I'm referring to almost all of those CC's btw. The ranters, the suck ups and the fence sitters. A lot of them are not very good content creators and their communities inevitably become a reflection of that and it is not healthy for players in the slightest. Now actual players of the game? Pretty normal. I played co-op for about 2 years since launch and met numerous people who were all generally chill. And I don't mean I played about an hour with them and left. We would play for awhile, I'd sometimes help them or we'd just hangout and screw around for a long period of time. The only reason I stopped is because Genshin never improved co-op beyond some incredibly minor things so it no longer became worth it to use. Plenty of people dropped Genshin or simply chose to play alone because again, Genshin's co-op is so minimalist that you wonder why they even bothered adding it. But I met lots of good people from parents to students to teachers and people from all over the world. I tried to help plenty of em and they've helped me sometimes. Now most people keep to themselves and just go around asking for resources, completely isolated from the internet madness that Genshin goes through on a daily basis thanks to these so called "fans". HSR is already showing signs of something similar and it doesn't surprise me

As someone who went to anime cons since I was in middle school, I loved that shit. I went to one more recently (as a grown ass man in my 30s), and I couldn't put my finger on it, but it felt so...odd. It's hard to describe. The vibe at anime cons up until the mid-2010s (the bulk of the normie influx is pretty recent), was basically just "We are cringe but we are free." Anime was still kinda niche with a few exceptions, so it was a chance to indulge in our own nerdy shit without being judged by people who weren't of that community. It just feels very sterile now that so many people who aren't even really into anime getting into cons. And hey, if you're new to it, that's great! But the issue does come in when people come to a community and then immediately try to change it. Come to embrace the community, not fuck it up for everyone who was there before you.

The last anime convention I went to, it was so full of people who clearly barely give a shit about the culture. Probably 50% of the merch was Genshin or Honkai... And then the VTuber concert was overflowing (the room wasn't even half full the year before) and some people talked the entire concert and were super rude too, like bruh just leave. It is unfortunate because I am super passionate about anime and talking about it to new peeps is super fun, but I don't want this kinda crowd joining in 💀 Also furries aren't necessarily part of the anime community, but I think Muyu used it as a segway because they get made fun of by people who don't understand when they could just be left alone instead.
