    14 bolt is based off of the Eaton ho52 / ho72 axle , used from the 40s up until 72 I believe. Can find them in lots of 3/4 and 1 ton gm trucks. Thats what the ford 9 is based off of as well. You can interchange the side gears and 14 bolts shafts in an Eaton . They have better clearance than a 14 bolt and have a drop out 3rd. A lot of people like the ho72 because it has a load bolt preventing pinion deflection even more than the 3rd bearing so it's bomb proof. They also came with Detroits. Lots of tech info on them online they're very cool!

      Yes!!! You are 100% correct. I have a buddy that has a spare ho72 and was thinking of adapting that into my front

      @@readyrig4x4 that's the dream front setup! I think you can use Dana 60 C's and build out from there with sleeving and welding new tube. Quite a job though.

    The 9” was first offered in 1957 and the 10.5” 14FF in 1973 so your statement of the 9” getting the patent from it doesn’t hold water.
    Besides there are many different makes and models that have used a removable pinion support setup…. GM did not own that design feature.

    Nice. Recently went through this with a TMR kit to put a 14 bolt into my Jeep. Lots of work.

    What is the difference between using a 14 bolt from the year 2000-2006? because you use a newer one. People have told me that I have to use one of those years. thanks

      Great question. I think I'll do some research for you and make a video about that

      2000-2010 14 Bolt is still your Drop out Pinion with 3rd bearing support design with 8x6.5 Lug Pattern but comes factory with Disk Brakes. 2011+ has 4" Tubes bigger hub bearings bigger brakes and spindle bore large enough for 40 spline shafts but is 8x180 Lug Pattern. I will say there's a company that makes a 8x180 to 8x170 redrilling guide so you could drill the rear hubs to 8x170 and run that with 40 spline axles and match a 05+ Super Duty Dana 60 with 40 spline axles. Would be extremely beefy.

      @@TyphoidSnaily So you recommend me to put a 2011+ 14 bolt on the rear axle? instead of a 00-2006 14 bolt. Thanks!

    • @TyphoidSnaily
      @TyphoidSnaily หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheRamon0007 it would depend on what front axle you're going to run. If you're running an 05+ Super Duty Dana 60 then yeah I'd go with the 2011+ 10.5" Ring Gear 14 Bolt (found in 3/4 Ton Gasser trucks) and redrill the hubs to match the 8x170 front lug pattern. That way you have the option to go super beef 40 Spline Axles if you wanted.

      Working on it Bud. I had to set the project aside for a little bit. The guy who runs the shop I am doing it at won't let me work there at night... the only time I have to do it. Builds take time

    What year did they start 4” tubes ? Is it still 30 spline axles

    • @readyrig4x4
      @readyrig4x4  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn't tell you when the 4" started but mine is from a 2015 2500 HD gas truck. I think the diesel 2500s ha e the AAM 11.5. Yes, mine is still 30 spline. I have found that everything is the same except the tubes 👍

      @@readyrig4x4 From 2002-2016 The diesel 2500HD & 3500HDs had the AAM 11.5" rear ends. Versus the 2500HD gas versions had the AAM 10.5"
      And if I'm not mistaken, I believe all 2500HDs with the gasoline engines, the 10.5" rear ends only come in the 4:10 option from the factory. Whereas the 8.5" and 9.5" were sold with different ratios from the factory.

      Nope, hade a 04 2500hd gas with 14bff 3.73 and and a 10 dually 14bff 3.73.

      @readyrig4x4 What was the reluctor ring tooth count if you could recall? My Colorado is 48 teeth. I am very interested in putting a 14 bolt into my truck. Online research has very conflicting info. My biggest desire is to maintain the abs functionality, but after three rebuilds, I really need to get a beefier axle in my truck.
