he's a great drummer and one of the top drum educators, but one of the top drummers in the industry seems like a bit of a stretch considering that the list of artists he has played for is relatively short
Any decent sound guy with that studio would make these amazing player sound well and mix them well. However those musicians not any decent player can play like that. I’ve been mixing in my home studio only a couple years and I can put together nice sounding mixes already.
Tommy just always makes me smile....super chops and great musicianship! And of the few guys these days not playing a double bass drum pedal. Nor did I miss it. :)

For me it’s always been Gadd, Vinnie and weckl. Well, move over dudes because I’ve always loved how Tommy plays abs he has now made it to my very top favorite drummers. He’s such a damn monster and extremely innovative, huge influence on my playing since back in the 90s when I first heard him through that Hudson video. Much love, Henry
Love the cross stick accented rythems, dynamic playing with WIM,killed it guy's for sure!! Tommy's clean build ups with organ leading into Bass Solo and drum statements around kit.Sweet

Man, Tommy's playing is stellar as usual. But damn, his snare sounds gorgeous. Right in the sweet spot, tuning wise, for me. Major props to the other two musicians too. Killing it!
He did a night or two (I can’t remember exactly) at Yoshis in CA and it was all Steely Dan songs. It might have been just Aja, regardless the clips I saw were incredible. Horn section killed it and I’m pretty sure he had a few guys from Fagens band with him.

It's impossible to pick out my favorite aspects of this song. All of the musicians here are all so incredible! They have such perfect synergy! I have to say as a drummer though, that keyboard player is absolutely insane!!!!!!!!
I saw him at a clinic in the Drum Shop in Portland Maine. He did something similar with this through his Groove Essentials book. Him and his late father are masters!

More than anyone else the keyboard guy played bass and keys. Now that’s talent. No doubt about the drummer and guitarist they are equally talented.
