I miss games like Overlord, where you're the evil entity trying to conquer the world. It's such a refreshing twist. But I find they just never feel... robust enough.
To be fair in overlord your actually the good guy whos trying to save the world (not being sarcastic its the story line)

The mechanics remind me of a Deck Buidler game, in particulary Banners of Ruin:
- each Character is a deck
- you start the battle with all cards drawn
- you can refresh a single deck with a character unique ability/card
- you got 5 Action Points/turn
- Devil Essence is HP, creating a incentive not to go vulnerable
- Devil Mode however allows you to burn HP for powerfull effects, like "Steal Steal Buff" or "Remove enemy HP to 0". Another interesting take - "steal buff" normally would risk being too specific (only working on specific, rare buffs) while "large damage" abilities run the risk of either over or underkilling
- the limit of 3 cards/Deck is also pretty common. 3 of a kind making a better one is also very common. Just the combination is rare
- it even got a "take nothing" option for the skills/cards
This is a design doc I wrote 2 years ago, but better in every way. The animation, texturing, modeling, game design, it's all top notch. This game deserves so much more exposure. Buying it, obviously.
My design was still a bit different, but definitely had similar themes and even gameplay concepts. I started prototyping it in RPG maker. You played a Vampire, Werewolf, Mad Scientist [AKA necromancer], or Occultist [AKA Warlock] who owns a nearby castle and you have to lure heroes to the village you terrorize meanwhile appearing as a rich benevolent lord to the townspeople. You raise an army, converting some towns people to monsters, capturing monsters in nearby dungeons to add to your army, and corrupting heroes. There was harvest moon and dungeon building elements. I'm not exactly sure what the end game is, maybe you overthrow your own dark master or something? Then New Game+ is you overthrowing your previous games' boss?
Great art & character design and especially animation! so fluidly done.

Man this looks dope as hell. When I first saw the trailer I was like "meh", but having seen this gameplay? It looks fabulous.
The bats flying through the title background is a really nice touch. Music is hella dank
Devil Mode reminded me of Clown from Madness series: "You do not kill the clown, the clown kills you!"
Game looks gorgeous. Could use some more detail on the main map imho though.

Ah, another "reverse Darkest Dungeon" title. The inclusion of the "Vulnerable" mechanic feels like a particularly nice nod to DD's "Death's Door".
At least it does not have cards as resources ;)

There's more reverse Darkest Dungeons aside from Iratus? Hopefully none of them are as underwhelming and dull as Iratus.

@@timofaust1315 This so much! So many games have been ruined (for me) because they forced deckbuilding mechanics when it didn't fit or felt forced.
Gordian Quest being a prime example of it for me, I would've absolutely loved the game if it wasn't for the cards bit

I literally went to the steam Page. Said join closed beta in the news. Registered my email. And got a mail that said ill be added to the closed beta. That was piss easy. Anyone can register for this game for closed beta. Should've mentioned that Splattercat.
That's a cool and hard to balance idea. Being able to flat out cheat as apart of playing the game.
Looks good, but closed beta this week and then release in Fall 2021.😟 whenever I look on my Steam wishlist I have like 80+ games which will release "in the near future".

A long while ago i gave up on AAA games. This channel is now my main source of info for new games i might play. Indy games are just better.
That intro makes me think of Iratus, Lord of the Dead.
And the graphics makes me think of a sort of children's storybook in the flavor of the Brothers Grim Fairy Tales... just more gothic and dark.

I don't find the game very exciting but the artstyle and the UI are top notch, very good.
Yeah, it is rather uninspired gameplay that comes out of the "let's take stuff from other games and repaint it" box, but at least the game design oozes passion.
Darn. It has been ages since I saw a game that made being bad look so good. I enjoyed the narration, nice work.
I would love it if we get to create Disciples and make our own avatar in there. But unlocking Disciples, who are based on myths and legends of terror, work for me too.

This look so and engaging. Omg. I'd play it.
Cool looking game. I'm not surprise it is looking good, cyanide is no small studio (Styx, runaway, blood bowl). This isn't an "indie" game but rather an AA games and it shows in the graphics and overall polish.
I'm waiting to se more of the mid game/late game mecanics before buying but early game seems good. Better than Iratus anyway, Iratus was lower on graphic quality (smaller team and not the inspired artistic direction that darkest dungeon had) but most of all wasn't fun. Games mecanics were too poor, especially when compairing to Darkest dungeon.
I'm surprised no other streamer is making vids on this, did you have an exclusivity? Good job anyway.

This will be a def purchase. I am curious though if the world map will remain this linear and does anything on the map move or hunt you while traversing the countryside? I don’t see where there is any risk to the player unless he/she decides to go into a battle.

This Game Opens up so many Possabilities for Future games. XD Imagine a Game like This. But your a Type of God. Who gets bonuss to certain acts. Like a God of war Gives good out right damage to enemies. where a Goddess of love. allowes you to Win the souls of enemies and asign Contacts to gain more fallowers.
And also you could be able to customize your agents/warriors. And have your own Goals as a Rogue or Stray God. XD
Maybe this can be a Civ and God Game.

I perfer this type of art direction Vs. realistic graphics. Cell Damage for the original Xbox sealed that for me 20 years ago.
Looks stunning and so polished. The only thing I'd would like to see improved is making cooler skills. Most of them just have the plain effects (+x dmg, +1 buff, -1 debuff etc) we see often in this type of games. Just considering the theme and the characters shouldn't be hard to make more original skills that promote cool combos and synergies. Devs should not forget about this. :)

@splattercatgaming Can you please do a lost planet 3 review I would love to hear your take on it it reminds me a lot of red faction gorilla. Very similar open world interesting monsters and lots of mining I would love to see your take on it and see your brand of humor thrown into the gameplay.
