Even though I noticed the weight gain, I automatically then went to remembering how rapid his weight loss used to be. And this is actually healthier than how thin he used to be. He looks happy and healthy. And I'm glad he is.

I’ve met Chris and his boyfriend Will at a party and both of them are extremely genuine guys.
I so don't wanne know what my cat thinks about me. I love her, but sometimes I feel like she's plotting my murder.
With wolves we took a wild animal and bred them into our loyal faithful companions. With cats we didn't change anything and they are still the same smart wild animals. We just shrunk them down leaving them dependent on us for food and shelter. Cats are still pissed off about that.

You can be & do anything & anyone you want. (That is a weird sentence. Don't read it the wrong way.)
It's just very hard work & persistance, plus a whole lot of luck & being recognized and supported by the right people.
So to sum it up, it probably is: Talent, Hard Work/Practice, Persistence, Luck, Contacts/People who believe in You.
I forgot the most important point, though, which is PASSION. If you don't have passion for what you're doing, you most likely won't have the passion to work hard enough for it - be persistant - be lucky - make powerful contacts - & meet the right people who believe in your talent & SEE your PASSION.

(So the mantra of the first letters could be something like: "PTPPLP". Or if you don't like the letter "P" so much, maybe: "PTWPLC". Still two "P's", but apparently you need them to be successful. Print it out, hang it up to motivate yourself, like Rachel does in "glee". You're here, so you must know the series "glee". :D )
That's what I learned, after analyzing the steps of how people became successful, while maintaining the passion & love of what they're doing.
Your ambition can not be to become either "wealthy", nor "cool". Your worst ambition, though, could be, to become "famous". If you're doing it for the fame, you're doing it for the absolutely worst reason you possibly can. And you most likely wont succeed, because people will recognize your false ambition & figuratively smell your desperation. (I mean that obvious, & pungent smell of desperation to become "famous", no matter what.)
The one thing those "fame-seeking" people need to know is: Fame is a lie, it's not real. Fame is a two-sided coin/blade. It is both, heaven AND hell. It's something most people want & wish for, but famous people don't want so much anymore & wish to escape, even just for one day. (Going to the supermarket, unrecognized, like a "normal" person, is what you'd do on that day, for example. These little things, that can seem unpleasant & not something you'd strive for, but you'd really miss, once you'd be famous. Fame gives, but also takes a lot of things from you, that are impossible to get back.)
'Kay, that's it. And don't forget: "PTPPLP"/"PTWPLC".
