Putin's Offer to You (Yes, YOU!)

- The Russian Foreign Ministry, with the seal of approval of President Putin, have signed a decree to allow more conservative thinking Westerners into Russia. The basis for your application? The rejection of 'neoliberal thinking', or in other words, woke ideology.
Will you be taking Putin up on this offer?
I just want to get away from this woke rubbish
I've often thought the same, trouble is it's now to close to home!
Wherever u settle, u'll find something that doesn't fit u.
Moving to another country won't change that. Perfection doesn't exist and trying to reach utopia is a form of lunacy.
You settle where your heat says, it's here. If problems come you take on them without complain.

Putin is not so much asking people to come to Russia, what the presidential decree has been made for is to offer sanctuary to those who feel threatened or persecuted by the ideology and tendency towards authoritarianism rising in the western nations.
Russia does indeed promote the family and once you are a full citizen that you can apply for after living on a residency period for three years
Yes I mean there were many initiatives asking government there do do something about that since they didn’t even have any standard way for common people from other countries who don’t have any historical ties to Russia to move there, so now they made one
As if rus isn't a form of authoritanism of its own 😂.

Not the 1st time this has happened. In the 18th century, Catherine the Great opened the doors for Europeans to emigrate to Russia to escape religious persecution and take advantage of highly fertile newly colonized lands (wrested from nomadic Turkic tribes) in what is today southern Ukraine and the Saratov region on the Volga river. Several hundred thousand Europeans did take her up on the offer, mainly Germans - who later became known as the Volga Germans.
Mostly, these Germans and others were from Protestant communities such as the Lutherans and Mennonites - coming from either Catholic countries where they were repressed, or Protestant countries but in which they were being forcibly merged into other churches, as was taking place in Prussia. So there are more than a few parallels to the decree of today and the people to which it's going to appeal; namely those whose values and way of life have fallen afoul of the reigning ideology.
I wouldn't go, Russia has a history of negating promises to foreign immigrants when their usefulness expired. There's a reason 300.000 ethnic Germans lives in Kazakhstan and not along the fertile Volga banks.
@Paythoner: The case of this time is totally different from the past time. Religious persecution might be a similar case, but the rest is not.
A later incident was the so called 'Kirunasvenskarna' from northern Sweden that migrated to the Soviet Union after the revolution. Stalin didn't trust them and if starvation and hard labour didn't kill them the purge 1936-37 did the work. Very, very few were able to return.
And during the inter War period of the 20th Century several thousand African Americans Emigrated to the Soviet Union.
And when the politics changed in the 20th cebtury they became a persecuted minority
As a Russian citizen you get assistance at the birth of your first child as a married couple in the form of a one-off grant of around $13,000.
Housing costs are very low compared with the west, you can buy a mansion for $200,000 outside of the metropolitan areas.
There are communities cropping up that are mainly British, American etc., that you can gravitate towards if you wish and generally Russia is a very easy nation to live in with much less restrictions on improving your home, very, very low crimes rates and practically zero levels of homelessness.
Can I open a business in Russia? And can I drive my van with my business from the UK to Russia? What are the rules?
That all sounds pretty good. Especially the housing being low. As an Aussie I'd long ago given up on the idea of buying a home. It's strange to think that owning a home may be back on the cards again if I move to Russia. What cities of Russia have the warmest climate?
You can probably buy a mansion even cheaper in Nigeria, Ethiopia or Uganda. Why not?
It seems like a bad idea if you move over there to segregate yourself to a western community. You should integrate into russian culture if you go there not set up your own. That's part of the issue we have here.

Need a plumbers mate?
A plumber in Moscow can earn 200,000 rubles. This is very good money in Russia. You are given 3 years to learn the language. Being in a language environment, it will not be difficult to do.
As for the Russian language, it's no easier or harder to learn than any other Slavic language. Actually easier than some of them, such as Polish, which has more archaic case forms that have long ago disappeared in Russian, and written Russian is entirely phonetic due to the Bolshevik reforms of the Russian alphabet - whereas again, Polish is not at all.
There are also languages in Europe such as Hungarian, Finnish, Lithuanian that are either more alien compared to English than Russian is, or have a greater amount of complicated rules.
About 40% of Europeans speak one Slavic language or another, and for them learning Russian to a conversational level will take no longer than 6 months.
But of course the decree is mainly going to target specifically the Woke hellscape countries; that's specifically Western Europe and the wider Anglosphere such as the US, Australia and so on. Well for what concerns non-English Western Europeans at least, they do have the advantage of being multi-lingual already - the majority of them know an additional language to their native one, so learning yet another one won't be as hard.
I’m American and speak three languages fluently and one kind of.
@@SeanConnoly The one being English, Lol
It's graded as harder to learn because of the additional complication of the Cyrillic alphabet.

You are mixing two different things. Capitalism is economic model , while communism is social model. In communism , main economic model was planned economy with (mostly) state (people/nation) owned and managed resources. In capitalism resources are mostly privately owned . If you want to compare social models , than you can compare feudalism and communism , or feudal autocracy and communism , democracy and communism (though , it isn't so simple , because communism was kind of democracy ). I know that it is a popular outlook on the things , but it is very much (besides theoretical definitions) dependent on historic moment and particular country , or state.

I think it's a positive thing the population going down everywhere. Countries just need to adjust and use the opportunity to welcome nature back. People will be happier as living so congested is depressing.
This has been my thought for some time.
We have the right as Brits, French, Germans, whatever, to decide if we'd rather have our population decline or high levels of immigration. We have always chosen against immigration, but it's forced onto us anyway. That's completely not right in my opinion.
Population declining would make things better in many ways. The problem is it would hurt overall GDP figures and that's what politicians really care about.

I don't think Putin's Russia would be a good place for a writer. Not that Starmer's Wokeland is much better.
As long as you write things that do not contain a narrative that is about destabilizing the country like inciting regime change or talking bad about the military ! The US during war also has a culture were if you talk about the military in a bad light, even when they are obviously making many mistakes like bombing civilians on purpose or accident and soldiers committing war crimes and getting charged and jailed for it, you are looked down upon for doing it maybe not jailed but whistleblower are definitely not liked by the establishment and the government. How will you serve in the Russian army without knowing the language? Besides, modern warfare requires smart and competent soldiers. You can go with complete peace of mind.
I'm already learning a second language. There's no way I'm going to be able to learn Russian ontop of that. I do think Russian culture is comparatively better than western culture at this point but it's too much of pain in the ass. The only thing that might make me consider it is if I had a Russian girlfriend that could basically baby sit me for a few years while I learn enough Russian to scrape by. Also it's cold in Russia and they have very short summers. That's also a pretty big bummer. The USA and Europe is pretty woke and is also being killed by immigration from the third world but If you live in a Rural place it's still an ok place to be for the time being. And what are the things you think Russia could provide you which the West cannot? If it's a pure lily-white ethno-state free of icky brown people you're looking for, you would be very disappointed.
You need to use mono and split the audio to stereo.
Yeah god damn it. I edit with my laptop speakers and you really can't tell. Just listened through headphones. I'll leave it up but in the future will make sure I do this.
What a plonker I am.
@BritishLandeur
Plonker lol. Keep doing what your doing.
well were At the end of Days Jesus is Coming to Judge the world ❤❤
Russia is a lovely place bit too cold in Winter🤣cant stand the Cold or too Hot 😂i am 66 this year never been ABROAD 😂
I'd be off if I were a young man, although I'm not sure where.
Nigeria? Ethiopia? India? 🤔
Put it in mono. One side audio.
God damn - I will start editing with headphones from now on.
Impossible to tell when I just use my laptop speakers. Sorry mate. I thought it was my old mic but I guess I'm doing something wrong.
Won't happen again sir!
@@BritishLandeur No probs at all. Well.done for starting making content, that's the main thing
Putin: "And I absolutely pinky swear not to immediately use you as meat for the front lines."
Well I don't think that's realistic. But what is happening I think is that you would be replacing someone in their day to day work who would then be free to go to the front lines, so that's definitely something to think about...
Dont think I'd be allowed in as I'm working-class and white. I also run & workout. So I'm obviously Fanatically Right-Wing 🤣
Why are you going to the gym you... (Insert hurty word).
@@BritishLandeur I say, steady on old bean 🤣
Sounds like the Kremlin needs cannon fodder. Anything to avoid conscripting Muscovites.
Not all populations in Russia are decreasing. The Muslim populations in Russia are growing. That is the future of Russia.
Siberia might be remote, poor and unpopular for immigrant Brits but, apparently, the people in Siberia are very nice.
BS. If everyone is conscripted, who will work and run businesses? Russia needs normal european people who share traditional values to help replace ageing population and the idiots that left chasing their woke ideals. And yes, to also put a damper on low-skilled Muslim migration from Central Asia, who, just as their middle east bretheren in EU don't want to assimilate.
@RoamingTumbleweed
Spoiler: ain't gonna happen.
Would be interesting to know what strings are attached. Is this measure meant to replace labor that's tied up in a certain special military operation? Meant to counteract the future population collapse? Casting a wide net to recruit espionage agents? Accumulate unwitting hostages for future negotiations? I was interested in Russia well before the war. I don't think learning the language would be that big of a hurdle. Yes, it's ranked as being harder than Spanish / French for English speakers from a technical perspective, yet, there are simultaneously many high-quality resources. You can get a professional tutor (B.A. or M.A levels, even) for nearly the same amount you are paying for minimum-wage services in the West. Or even free. What isn't appealing, though, is being a potential political pawn. It only takes one policy flip to deport / refuse exit of foreigners having, say, a US passport to make life get stressful real fast.
Your thoughts are precisely my thoughts.
Some people in the comments are suggesting that foreigners would be sent to the front. Nonsense in my opinion. But you will replace someone in the russian labour force who goes to the front. Quite a thing to think about.
Culturally I am probably more suited to Russia, but the possibility of simply being arrested and used for negotiations is pretty frightening, as you say. I am ex-military so probably pretty easy to convince people I'm a spy.
You're right about tutors, but I still think the language is no doubt very hard to learn. Give it a try and let me know how you get on mastering all the cases. 🫡🫡🫡
@@BritishLandeurYou should be smart enough to not fall for the narrative about innocent people getting arrested to be used as bargaining chips. Russia would be losing more than it would be gaining, if something like that were happening.
Very much interested, but I also don't wanna be drafted to Ukraine
I'm thinking Texas
🤣 For a second there I thought my headset was broken.
A word of advice. Book the ferry at least a day or so in advance. Don't wait until you get to the port. It will be twice the price.
The people landing daily on our south coast probably aren't very woke. Maybe we could forward them to Russia.
Hi mate! I'll add a comment as a Brit with 20 years in Moscow. Putin's decree seems promising but many feel it's a PR stunt more than anything. Moving to and integrating into Russian life isn't simple unless you work for a business or language school that deals with your paperwork. Running a business here is really tough because the laws are no where near as well adapted as in the West. You need to spend a good amount of time in Russia to adapt. Once you do, it's well worth it.
One major point: living outside a big city in the West in a nice house in a village is the mirror opposite to Russia. Out of a city, the quality of goods, healthcare, accommodation etc drops considerably. So to maintain a good standard of living, you really need to be in a large city living in a flat.
Privyet! Fascinating stuff - yeah it's a similar vibe to what I experienced in the Balkans. In the major cities it feels like any other major European country (maybe just a bit safer to be honest), but out in the villages life is much harder, and there are far fewer young people.
I suspect that to live outside the cities and live well you'd have to be pretty wealthy and probably not want to live too far from a major city.
Super hard to generalise Russia though given how utterly enormous it is, from St P to Vladivostok with the Altai in Siberia in between, A crazy place.
@BritishLandeur you're absolutely right. Those areas outside Moscow or St.Petes worth living in with their own infrastructure are elite complexes and super expensive.
You most definitely need to have some funds before moving to any other country. I think being totally prepared ,maybe visit as a tourist.
🤣 3 months ..... 🤔 Frontline month 4 😂
As long as you arent conscripted as soon as you get there.
I fully respect everyone's right to navigate the world according to their prerogatives, but from where I stand, fleeing 'woke ideology' to go live in a far more authoritarian and corrupt society isn't a wise trade-off.
It was interesting to hear you weigh the mass migration aspect of this question, and to wisely mention the feeling of the host country's people, as opposed to the leader, is important. But of course, those feelings will be mixed, so you won't find a clear answer there. But to push this reflection a little further than you seem to have in this video, compare the motivation of the potential migrant in several of these scenarios. In terms of those coming to Britain, the types of economic hardships, and religious/political discriminations they may be fleeing in various degrees, appear far more potent and legitimate motivations than the mere disagreement with various socially inclusive practices you may take issue with in Britain. In other words, be aware that many could indeed perceive hypocrisy if you were to rush over to Russia, while remaining profoundly critical of mass immigration to Britain.
Personally, I find rapid spikes in immigration to and from anywhere, to be problematic, because objectively, it is. My concerns have nothing to do with left/right politics. As such, my personal hope is that you become more motivated by the objective problem of mass migration (which would incline you to reject Putin's offer), than by the fleeing from 'woke-ism', or the running towards a traditionalist, but also authoritarian and deeply intolerant society. Britain's immigration problems are possible to resolve, and 'woke-ism' isn't half as terrible as it may seem in a vacuum, particularly when compared to being beaten and/or arbitrarily arrested and indefinitely imprisoned for expressing your political views.
You are starting to have a few followers here: give them some healthy perspective.
Excellent comment, well written. I'm not naive to the contradiction here between suggesting we all move to Russia and opposing mass migration, as you point out.
I think the cultural and immigration problems in the UK will not get better, they will get worse.
The UK needs to either remigrate millions of people, or face a civil war in my opinion. The future looks bleak precisely because native Brits are being bullied, marginalised and berated constantly. We are told we have privilege whilst being put last behind DEI hires for jobs. We are told there's no money for social housing, but we are filling social housing with foreigners who have large families.
No country can take this for long. In my opinion this will boil over into a Balkans style situation and it will be horrible, frankly.
The only way to avoid this is to do what some people claim is cruel and to remove these people back to their country of origin. That's truly how I feel. Very complicated topic with who that applies to, I am not naive to that. Sweden has already begun implementing remigration policies since it became the rape capital of Europe (damn those Swedes).
As for woke ideology. It will keep getting worse and worse and worse. I am not sure quite what the next point of insanity is, but it's coming.
Bit of a rambling reply. Not fitting to your well thought out comment. You have my apologies!
He just wants more cannon fodder
We cannot sell our homes and transfer our assets though.
Why not?
It is possible, but complicated. SWIFT transfers are still possible to some banks, but those tend to ilnvolve considerable fees, so not optimal. Crypto is probably the best way to transfer money. Cash can be brought as well, or course. There also are or at least were some apps allowing relatively easy transfers, but they probably have some downsides and limitations too. Lastly, some foreign banks may transfer money through the Russian payment system, e.g. I have heard of such banks in Kazakhstan.
