    Every time I tune in your channel I learn. You say more with fewer words than most others and most importantly I understand your reasoning. Don't always follow your advice but I'm not shooting matches or competitions just competitive against myself.

      I’ll second that comment. Clear, concise and on point. Thank you!

    Hi Keith , Bullets Barrel and bedding is my philosphy . I have used cheap actions and crappy nasty winchester brass properly processed and outshot plenty of upper class actions brass and stocks .

    Berger sales person also once told me the VLDs benefit more from tuning. If you ever do a video on the difference between VLD tuning vs others, I'd appreciate it.

    I like the idea of marking brass that produces fliers and tossing it away the second time. Thanks!

    I was, once, able to dramatically improve a barrel by tossing a silencer on it (.9 to .3 moa typical). I buy the harmonics on this, it might be worth a shot but I agree. I don't think you'll be able to consistently save a bad barrel.

    Very insightful video. Considering most of us use premium barrels and Berger bullets, the only thing that really matters is brass and brass preparation.

    Soooo True, struggle on a medium barrel and the result is always the same no matter what you try.

    BC is just a #. Like statistics you can twist them for your own purpose. 4DOF will get you closer, but the proof is always the holes on the paper. Love your videos. Thanks for what you do.

    Hottenstein 6mm bullets have been some of the very best in Benchrest for years and years. Now in 7mm and .308, all custom hand made by Ken Hottenstein himself! Game changer!

    Which powder is better: It combust in the first half of the barrels or it ends with burning shortly after the end of the barrel?

    Love the short and informative video! When it comes to the .264 bullets for 6.5 Creed: Which bullets to stay away from and which to stock up on? Any others than the 140gr bergers?

      @winninginthewind  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't have any experience with 6.5 yet. I have seen excellent results from a variety of bullets, but a snapshot in time is not the measure of success. I'll refrain from opining until I have hands-on experience.

    I would add that at the highest level of accuracy such as short range benchrest for score/group brass preparation is nearly as important as the brand.

    How do you mark the brass?

    • @winninginthewind
      @winninginthewind  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Sharpie. It does come off if you do heavy brass cleaning, but the ink in the extractor groove tends to stay pretty well.

    Not one of the three Bs, but the cartridge selection is critical especially in reference to the chamber throat. A long freebore type like a 6.5 CM will usually shoot more precisely than a no freebore 270 Win type that has a forcing cone that starts at a larger diameter than the bullet. A tight freebore helps to negate runout effects in the loaded cartridge. The forcing cone type does forgive alignment errors and bullet diameter differences better than a long tight freebore, but usually will never equal the precision.

      My zero freebore 30BR would like to lodge an official protest. It's the most accurate gun I own and recently averaged 0.264" for 6x5 shot groups in a load test. Yes, load test with multiple powder charges and seating depths. I then shot a 10 shot 0.260" group. This performance is actually fairly typical for the cartridge as well. I do agree that a relatively tight, long freebore does seem to have more inherent accuracy as a generalization.

      Question ; m70 300 win supports u'r statement. But my later type m70 270 with boss 150 gr bullets will hole ( one hole) em att100yds about 8 > 10 the. seating. An xception i presume ?
