I am going to attempt to make this! Love your style and how you are just a normal dude making this. Thanks for the amazing video and I’ll let you know on how it turns out!
Nice one. We builded a couple of them with our hobbyclub a some years ago. Dead easy. Pro-tip: Drilling all the end holes goes both quicker and more precise when you use a jig to fix the wood under the drill. For the holes in the middle of those sticks it's less efficient.
For hand drilling you need something to make the holes aligned. Also for the ends, whatever you use, it will bend unless it's wire or string or rope but the rope needs to be natural fibres otherwise it's too elastic and you can't tighten it properly and also it will rot in time. I tried with brass rods, when making the thread it twisted, the die was going really hard, also i didn't thread them first so was harder but i wasn't sure if i might damage the thread when putting them through the holes which is what i think made it so hard for the process cuz they were not aligned properly cuz the holes came out on the other side not straight. I guess for a not as much of a bend you need to put bits in-between on the end bits of the wood. Yeah you built and you learn. I made mine from sapele and white oak which is not cheap. They are very cheap on the internet but they are not polished at all plus most are from soft wood like you did and i wanted something from a hard wood. Looks amazing but too expensive to sell on ebay or Amazon. Need to find rich folks in london to be worth making and selling. Can't sell for 200£. 😒. I spent 20 hours sanding everything. With materials and my time maybe 800-1000 would be a good price. 🤣
Am I the only one who noticed "c and d" flip flopped in the different slides? Is C 35" or 32"? Can I get some clarification before I drill holes in the wrong spots please and thank you sir.
Good eye! I double-checked and it looks like all the *numerical* measurements in all diagrams are correct. The *visual* proportions at 6:36 are also correct (C should be a little longer than D). You are correct that the diagram at 7:35 is a little confusing, because D *looks* longer than C, but the measurements as shown are in fact correct. Hope that makes sense… I’ll change the the downloadable plans to avoid that confusion.
Here's a link where you can download a less confusing version of the diagram seen in the video at about 7:35: drive.google.com/file/d/1KSVcXJfRQSwFIW20VpvfP-qW6lWxq5EM/view?usp=sharing
Love the video. Question? I just purchased and downloaded your plans. I noticed using a 3/8 drill bit left a bigger hole then the 1/4 rod is? Shouldn’t I use a 1/4 bit? Sorry I’m lost. The hole is too big now. Appreciate your response.
Yes. The holes should be a bit bigger than the rod that runs through them. It all tightens up when the front of the seat and the top of the backrest get squeezed together.
Thank you for your reply, and yes you’re absolutely correct, it tightens right up. I was jumping the gun on that. I just test fit it. Love the chair and all your detailed steps in the downloadable plans. Everyone should buy them for you!! Much needed, and handy for future builds.
Thanks. I love simple down to earth instructions and explanations. Think I'm going to make a couple of these. Stay humble man.
Glad you found it useful. Have fun building your chairs.

Yes. It’s not a cost effective project if you’re making them to sell.
Guess im building this. 👍
Do it.
Great Video. keep it up
Thank you!
