  • Birds of the Costa Rican highlands is the first of a three part series about the avifauna of this very friendly, stable, and small Central American country. The second episode will showcase the birds of the foothills, and the third and final episode will show birds that we encountered in the spectacular lowlands.

I believe the name of the bird at the beginning is the Northern Jacana. The pictures of the birds of the highlands of Costa Rica were great. Also, would like to seen more of the surrounding landscape of where the birds were found. Thank you for sharing.

You are correct, Timothy. It is a Northern Jacana. Unfortunately, when we took the photos, we had no idea that we would be putting them on You Tube. We will definitely be taking more landscape shots in the future. Thank you for watching.

Thanks for sharing cool birds. I hope to visit Costa Rica at some point. Some birds were familiar like Tennessee Warbler and Baltimore Oriole but rest of it was new. Nice 🙂
