    In fact, the fall on the slope was not planned at all, but an accident. Falk had underestimated how steep the slope really was and couldn't stop going down and got faster and faster and finally fell... but they left this scene in the movie because it fit well and seemed natural. Fortunately, Falk was not injured in the fall.

      @@alfreddreamerphotocomics4880 Dunno, i'd say that was likely the case. I have a feeling the scene was planned, but i think he was supposed to fall backwards and slide down on his butt and hands and just overbalanced forward and went with it. I mean, the guy he went past didn't break character, and Faulk was probably in his 60's so 'something' was expected so they just stayed in character. He did hit pretty hard tho, but on rewatching he didn't hit as bluntly as I first thought, he kinda went down on his knees and rolled.
      Dunno, the only thing I can be sure of is that it really was Peter Faulk and I came here to comment about that and saw your post .

      I would not say it was sexist. "Turnabout Intruder" could be seen as a critique of the trend in misandrist feminism whereby women want to appropriate the roles of men, not based on merit, but out of jealousy. Janeway was a good captain, not because she was a woman but because of her personality, her temperment. Lester was a psychopath who stole a position for which she was unworthy.

    Aaaaaand this is why you NEVER talk to the police. This man incriminated himself....just like in ALL Columbo cases. They had nothing against him until earlier in the episode when he said "he hit dirt" when he fired at an intruder a year before. Keep your mouth shut !

    • @patrickjohnson5658
      @patrickjohnson5658 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My recollection of the episode is a year previously he filled out a police report stating he shot at an intruder but only hit dirt. He would have no way of knowing in advance a year later he was going to use the same gun again, this time to murder his nephew. Because that original report was in the police files for the last year, that is what gave Columbo the idea to dig up his greenhouse on the off chance he might find that original bullet to compare with the bullet that murdered his nephew.

    Reading David Koenig's book 'Shooting Columbo' he says that Falk had to REPEAT the fall a few times so they could get it from different angles...!!!
    Now THAT is dedication!

    I was so hoping the car would explode in a burst of flames as soon as it was rolling down the cliffside. Classic Hollywood!

    In this role Bradford Dillman reminds me of Bobby Bittman, especially when his hair gets big after he takes off the mask

    It's good to see his drinking back in the forties didn't kill him, and he beat the rap on trying to kill his wife, too.

    Couldn’t they use a Mustang, or Corvette for the movie, instead of that Jaguar.

    I have never looked as perfectly groomed and untired as these people appear at 3am. That's NEVER. So how did all six of them end up with perfect hair, perfect clothing, no five-o'clock shadows, no tired looks in their eyes? And why would a sergeant be involved in arresting, transporting, and booking someone at 3am? They just stick you in a cell and process you in the morning. There's no rush. Why would evidence have to be rushed in at 3am? The problem I always had with Columbo is its choosing to do things stupid ways when they didn't need to. There's no reason this has to be at 3am. They could have made it at noon and nothing would change in the plotline, and the ridiculousness of their perfect appearances and the rushing of evidence malarkey that makes no sense at 3am would not interfere with reality so much. Every time a show interferes with reality, it helps lessen the satisfaction of watching it. There was no need to mess this up so badly by pretending it is at 3am. Why are screen writers, producers, continuity experts, and directors this dumb?
