Google did the equivalent of bringing a picture of your Xmas present and saying it was in the mail still.
Interesting how the Pixel 8 won't be able to support those future features because of its slower SoC, despite their claims of 7 years of updates. It'll be obsolete way before that.
I have no doubt in my mind at least 90% of these are going to be, inexplicably, Geo restricted to US only. There is NO WAY dynamic suggestions (which does sound like a fun feature and an improvement on something that has already existed in some way) is going to be available outside the US. It has a predecessor that did similar stuff like suggest an address in messsages etc but it worked US only afaik.
That's fine. The US doesn't get half the phones the rest of the world does. Nobody can have it all.
In other words, GPT-4o was the more exciting update (and also more scary one)
And it's available everywhere. Most of Google's new AI stuff seems to be US-only.
Only scary if you've been looking for a girl friend.
Who would have thought that Google would fall behind on ai
So Google were releasing Tensor processors, which sucked at everything compared to Snapdragon, but Google claimed they were at least good for AI. But now it turns out they can't run their own Gemini nano. So turns out Tensors vere crap at everything, including AI.
Awesome
Why can't google streamline Google Assistant and Gemini into 1, Google assistant was meant to be like an Al companion from the start , whats the point of having 2 services having the same end goals?
wake me up when Gemini can do what google assistant and siri have been able to do for YEARS AND YEARS: smarthome voice commands
...
They can
Siri? Are you dreaming? Do you want Gemini to spit back "I found this on the web" after you ask a stupidly simple question?
A curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own modern smart phones???
@@thatscheckmateA curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own modern smart phones???
@@user-ct8zg4nb3g Yes, I would consider that a likely possibility.
Oh boy a homework helper, as a 27 year old several years out of school this should come in handy
It's unlisted, Maybe of embargo 👀
"Hey Gemini, look over this 200 page legal document and explain it like I am 5 years old"
where is there any info for the new version of android?
It's coming tomorrow
Reminds me of a kids song... "Old big Google released some phones... Ai Ai Oh!" 😏🤣🤣🤣
😎🇬🇧
I wonder can it click on the i am not a robot box or find all the traffic lights correctly
What’s the minimum pixel phone to use this Gemini nano? Nvm. Pixel 8 pro
Pixel 8a, 8 and 8 pro will all support nano
@@markusbarstad1103 booo. I have pixel 6a. Oh well. Will just hope for WDDC
I just want to be able to tell my phone to read and write text messages while I drive.......can an app or assistant do that?
I took a look at the API, only the 8 Pro and the Samsung S24 series can run this as of typing this up.
What about Android 15 update
Ai can be useful but i'm really disappointed in the subscription model. $20 a month...no
So expensive
I guess my Pixel 7 is ready to be a museum piece already 😢
Make the google assistant call screen available on all android device
Take my money
Dynamic suggestion?
I miss, google now
For information management it is much better than the others, although for conversation it is one step behind chatgpt
Nice 😇😇😇😍😍
Its disappointing to me that they didnt mention Google Assistant at all.
Great - more power - I'll hold off until S25 then
Good and just wait for that s25u
@@sherrimoquin5553 I'd love a pen but ultra is too big. I'd prefer S24 size but thicker, like a pixel
@kierenkd so if you like the pen then go for s25u
@@sherrimoquin5553 too big
@@kierenkd then try the plus
By dynamic... you mean annoying and intrusive?
Also very disappointing is that Gemini is still not capable of doing much of what Assistant can do... and there is no indication of when it will be possible to have ONE smart assistant that does all things. At present on Android once cannot run Gemini if you have Google Assistant running as your assistant app, and given Google has seemed to have made NO announcement about this is VERY disappointing... all this other stuff is just bla bla by comparison IMO.
I thought it was funny that they packed IO with so much AI they had to save the next Android version for tomorrow.
Google has really fallen behind in AI.
None of these features would be used by me, after the inital hype.
Openai wowd me harder than google at this point.
The first thing I do when I get a phone is disable the assistant. Meanwhile, I enjoy compact phones so I buy pixels. What a waste 😂
Nowdays it seems software is the to go... while hardware innovation has been staggering or slow...its easier to achieve in code but shall we also start challenging the hardware otherwise we should start to demand stronger software support instead of the need to keep buying new hardware every year...
“7 years of support” HA. I knew it was too good to be true. The limitations of software will always be hardware.
Sorry boys and gals, the Pixel 8 Pro is already obsolete.
#teampixel
I thought IO was pretty boring, and very disappointing that Google is doing all this stuff when it does some of the basics SO BADLY... for example, Google Gboard/voice typing can NEVER get my wife's name right, It NEVER get's my son's name right, or my stepfather's.. or our their family name... regardless of how many hundreds of times I have corrected the guessed spelling, the parts of Google AI I have to deal with daily are INCREDIBLY STUPID! Why can't these basic tools work properly. surely this is not too hard for Google? I don't care about curated photo albums and auto answering my phone... I care about the day to day use of my phone AI, and Google is doing a miserable job of that.
Google have already started limiting what their older phones will be able to do (new version of gemini not going to be available on the still current flagship phone!!!). This doesn't look good for their promise of 7 years of updates. By then hardly any of the new features will be available on their older phones. Time to switch to iPhone!
Sheep on.
Bye
