thank you so much for the videos, i am using an amd 7900x, 3090ti, hp reverb g2 and been struggling running msfs2020 with good graphics and stability, also on ground cockpit view constant stutters of trees and buildings while turning small ga aircraft, Look forward to your next videos on the g2
Thanks for the instructions, they've been a great help! Strangely though I get super smooth gameplay, same when I switch to VR, but only the first time. After I switch back from VR to 2D I get severe and unplayable stutters and ghosting. Does anyone else experienced this too?
Thank you very much Mike for another great video, especially with regards to the HP Rev G2! I will try these settings and see if I finally can get use of this Headset investment I made over a year ago. I Never got any good quality or performance out of it. My PC Specs are identical to yours, except I have a K-Processor. Q: Are the screens you are sharing here representative of what you see in the headset, excluding 3D ofcorse?
@RizzlaTheCat, thanks for your kind words. The image you see in the video comes directly from the right eye of the headset. So basicly it's what on the screen in the headset. Due to the fresnel lenses of the HP Rev G2, the image what you see in the headset is a lesser quality.
Is this now how you are getting the best performance and visuals using DLAA? I always thought you were supposed to set that at Ultra quality, but your finding DLAA better?
Yes, DLAA got a lot better with dlss 3.7.20. But I switch between settings depending on the performance with some sceneries. Sometimes I go to dlss balanced and upscale to 3000px. That gives me more fps and the quality is almost the same. I wish there was one go to setting, but it’s a depending on the scenery and weather which can have a huge impact on performance.
I'm new to VR (about 2 weeks) and I "only" have a used "Quest 1" (it was a bargain to get in touch with VR at all, without spending hundreds of Euro). I didn't set up the headset for the sim until now, but is there anything, I should change (because the Quest 1 isn't that capable in case of performance) - or doesn't it matter which device you use concerning the sim settings for VR? (BTW: I use a USB-C cable connection for the best/fastest connection. WLAN doesn't work well on the old Quest 1)
Hi, best way to go is start with low graphics settings and see how the quest1 performs. Then slowly increase some of the settings. Just don’t go to high as you would go when playing on a monitor. Welcome to VR 😁
@@Virtusim Thank you! I'll try it with the sim for sure (I'm just impressed by some VR games - like "Vader Immortal" or "Wanderer". VR is indeed very nice and much better than 3D movies in cinemas!)🤩
Much easier to use the nvidia profile inspector than the dlss tweaks tool to change either presets or ultra dlss or any level all the way up to .99% I believe.
Hi, some people find the Nvidia profile inspector a bit overwhelming. So this is an easy tool to tweak just the dlss parts. If you level up to 99% of a 100% scale, you can better use dlaa which is 1:1 scale.
I agree but you set an offset for dlaa in your video for -1 or 99 % so you are better off with dlaa at 100% I could say the same lol. Just trying to help people that may think the tweaks tool is to complicating . In the inspector it's labeled very nice for dlss and presets maybe you are not familiar .
You haven't tried DynamicLOD? That is needed to only load LOD which you really need else you are pissing against the wind. I do not bother with TWEAKS. I do not need REPRO as that gets wobbly props. I do not need anything in OpenXR Toolkit anymore. CAS btw can be on highest and many of your settings will go higher if using DynamicLOD. You can get above 40 to 45fps and even set FIXED 45fps in that plus in NVIDIA PANEL and run REPRO at 45 in OpenXR which is the only thing you need other than colour changes. You have Antistrophic x16 which is only using x8 ingame as that is bugged. Instead you set that OFF and set it to x16 in NVIDIA PANEL. You can do much better than 30fps on your system.
@@Virtusim they work in slightly different manners. DynamicLOD was found to be less changes seen from Ground To Air and also least gap when loading the busy Airports although can still have a gap at times. I have tried AutoFPS before settling with DynamicLOD. Since not needing REPRO now due to wobbly props, I don't really need to run OpenXR Toolkit on this but might therefore try its TURBO MODE as that can't be used with REPRO (trying tonight).
@jackwoud, dat klopt helemaal. Blij dat je er wat van opsteekt en ik hoop dat het iets helpt. Ik maak mijn video's in het engels, omdat de Flightsim Community heel erg internationaal is. Groetjes Mike
Is mandatory to click on "Copy to game folder..." in DLSSTweaks Config Tool after clicking Save? I was always copying files to MSFS folder, not sure why...
I am still confused: is it enough to use the swapper to swap the dlss file? As I understood for VR there is another dlss file needed? Is the dlss file for VR another/extra one?
Yes, like Virtusim answered, if you want to use Frame Generation on "not 40xx"-cards for your monitor, you need the "dlssg-to-fsr3" mod (version depending on using tweaks or not). I have this running since a few months now (just updated to the FSR3 V0.100) and I have steady 60fps with my 3080, no matter where I fly (from Athens with all the houses or iniBuilds KLAX, 60fps) There is still a little bit of "ghosting" with small and fast changing numbers (like the 100 fett in PFDs or if you turn in the DH), but it's much better than with FSR3 v0.90.
@@VirtusimThanks! Even in DLAA with DX11, it’s got some strange anomalies. I’ll try it again just to confirm, but DLSS with DX11 seems best on my system. What can you see is the difference between DLSS and DLAA?
DLAA is 1:1 scale as DLSS is scaled down and the upscaled again. The difference is the overall sharpness of the image. Some people frefer DLSS balanced and then upscale it in the openxr toolkit to 2500 or higher. You can try that. You have the graphics card that can handle it.
Hello Mike just wanting to know what is the world scale setting in the Sim for I have mine set to 100 never really messed up with it. What it supposed to do I am using the Pimax Crystal with the 4090 and I can only use DX 11 for VR either DLAA or quality still got a little bit of stutter in the open XR tool kit I’ve got the override resolution at 3500. I might need to bring that down. Even with the 4090. I use Nvidia profile inspector and DLSS swapper with preset E. I’m almost there with my graphic settings. I think the Sim update 15 messed a lot of things up.
@richardpalmisano hi, the world scale is how you percieve the word around you in VR. Lowering the scale, makes the cockpit smaller. Incresing the scale makes it bigger. With this scale setting you can adjust the size of the cockpit to your likings. It all depends on your type of headset, IPD and how close your eyes are to the lenses. So adjust to a setting that is right for you. It's difficult to asnwer where your stutters come from. Mostly it's that the graphic settings are set to high or that the upscaling is to much. AI traffic like FSLTL can also be too demanding on your system. Check the advanced FPS counter in the OPenXR Toolkit and keepo an eye on your VRAM. If the amount of VRAM used is close to 100% you will get stutters and lower FPS. By lowering the graphic settings, upscaling and reducing AI traffic (planes, cars, boats) you can lower the percentage of VRAM used. If you get for example a FPS of 60, cap your FPS at 45. You don't need the extra 15fps to get a smooth VR. By capping at at 45 FPS, you have extra headroom in the headset for other things and keep it (almost) stutter free.

Awesome vid mate, thanks very much from a fellow ReverG2 user here needing some guidance. Much Appreciate you sharing ;)
Glad to help mate!!
As always, great video Mike for us HP Reverb simmers. After these updates I just did a flight over the Swiss Alps. It looks fantastic 😍 Thanks
Cool, thanks
Took a long break from the sim, followed your instructions, rock solid, thanks for bringing me up
To date
Thanks. It is an involved process but well worth it. Great to have it all in one place.
I agree, thank you

Thanks for the video. Under DLSS Tweaks, you didn't explain about DLLPathOverrides. What DLL should we choose here?

If you have the files in your msfs folder, just saving is enough.
What do you have you settings at in the G2?
A video off all my G2 setting is in the making. It will come online this week

Does that mean DLSS 3.0 work with VR???
For some reason, if I use DLAA and DX12 in VR, it’s all wobbly and jagged. DLSS/DX11 works best for me. (i7-12900/4090) 😮
Just use DX11 instead. DX12 is still in beta and you might have an addon that's not optimized for DX12.

That depends if the game is optimized for dlss
Why would this have the opposite effect for me? My FPS went to 2 FPS... used to be smooth. I don't get it?
I don’t know. Did you change any other settings? Like upscaling etc?
