    That little case would be awesome for something like a retro game console

      For sure. Any project that you’d need extra storage for.

    I took an Apple MacPro 2,1 from 2008 with 6 gigs of Ram and 2x 4TB HD and 2x 640 gig HD and I have a 500 gig boot and Debian OS HD and I just absolutly love it my family gets access to my media. I used cloudflare tunnels to add a domain to my server so it is easy to access. Thank You For your Content

    This is a 1 TB nedia server? 1 TB is nothing for a media server. At least for me.
    The good thing about having a NAS is that you can make a media server with a worthy rich library and that needs way more than 1 TB.
    I wouldn't go for it because this case can't have and fit a sata hdd with lots of TB on it and external usb hard drives are a no no for a media server. Also a Pi can't handle hevc transcoding.

    • @DualWieldingDad
      @DualWieldingDad  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep just a 1TB drive. Not meant to be a NAS considering there’s no redundancy either. Yeah no transcoding but 1080p H.264 runs well. I just got the NAS up and running on the shelf next to it th-cam.com/video/UShewXQcGUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pmsXh9RWL-DcFFkE

    In my experience, Jellyfin could not play a lot of videos that Plex played easily with default settings.

    So can you access this remotely? I have been searching for streaming guides but they all do it over a home network. Is there a way to make it where I can access it from anywhere and any device? Sorry if I was redundant but I am confused why everyone is making just a home server if we're outside the house most of the time. I'd like to be able to pull up HD movies on my phone when I'm out and about.

      Look up Jellyfin remote access via VPN, reverse proxy or port forwarding. All 3 methods have their pros and cons.

    Dolby Vision will also not be supported on any config. You need a Dolby Vision certified play back device.

    Note: Raspberry Pi 4 running the 32bit OS has a hard time doing H265 file encoding. Stick to H264.

    Mounting my usb T5 SSD was my biggest problem with jellyfin. Haven't used jellyfin yet. Cuz without ssd I cannot play movies. No good vids on mounting HDDs to a pi4. Even with plex I got stuck with mounting external media.

    How does this perform if I wanted to cast to my TV or would this usecase be for plugging in directly through hdmi? Or is there some other networked option? loved the video. Thanks!

    • @andrewcosta5001
      @andrewcosta5001 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are moble apps for jellyfin, which you can then use to cast to ur tv, the server acts more as a hosting device, all you would need to do for a smart TV is type in your servers ip address with the port num and it should open it on the tvs browser, I have jellyfin media server on my desktop and it works just fine as well

    I'm facing issues while mounting HDD and there are no clear guides on internet to mount USB or HDD on jellyfin pi server.

      Does your Pi recognize the drive? Are you able to see it listed in raspberry pi OS?

    • @DualWieldingDad
      @DualWieldingDad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Install GParted. That will give you the ability to unmount or mount the drive. I had issues with the default file system so I unmounted the hard drive, reformatted the file system to ntfs and remounted it. After that the Pi and Jellyfin have no issues writing to it.

    Just curious. Were you watching the Netflix account at different locations or were you "sharing" the password without her people so that they could watch off of your account? If it was the first option then you have a legitimate complaint. If it was the second, you were violating the terms of service. They make their money by selling access.

    • @TheFourthWinchester

      Aside from the fact that Netflix actively advertised their services to be shared with friends and family as much as possible for years.
