- Today's video is just a ramble session. I hope you're all staying safe and healthy during these crazy times we are all going through. Again, sorry for the bad quality video & audio, it should be better next time :)
As always, remember, you are NOT alone (I know it sounds cliche, but it's true, my hands are dripping with sweat as I type this)!!!!
Dear Jen, I am happy you created this support channel! I don't even suffer from HH anymore, I found an amazing female doctor and did surgery. No more sweatty hands and underarms at all, no compensation sweatting. It's a new life! But I lived with HH for many, many years and it was rough. Coffe will make it worse because of the coffein, better try drinking sage tea?
Hi Spring! Thanks for being here with us here! That's absolutely amazing that the surgery worked out and you were able to have no extreme adverse effects, I'm so happy and relieved to hear it worked :D
Would you recommend the surgery, having gone through it yourself?
&yes, thank you, unfortunately I know of the increased sweating with caffeine... I just love coffee so much LOL. Sometimes I do drink decaf, or herbal tea. I've never tried sage tea, but I will! :D
Hope you are doing well today
@@SweatyJen Yes, I would, but only if u have the main problem on the hands tbh (that's where I had it) and if u can find a surgeon who has a high success rate. I am from Germany, so I found a doctor here and my health insurance covered the operation. I would have paid for it though if I had to, because the hh was REALLY impacting my career - now I am able to work without restricitons and enjoy life so much more.
@@luminosity108 thank you very much for expounding on your experience and how it has changed your life! That is also great news about your friend who also had an overall good experience! Is it ETS surgery in particular?
Also, I agree this condition is very well-hidden by those of us who suffer, and it is rarely spoken of. I think we are just taught from when we first have hyperhidrosis that it is weird and gross, so we go into secret-keeping mode and just try to blend in as much as we can. I'm very grateful that I am at a point now where I can accept this condition, and talk about it! I've met so many people, you included, who just GET IT and it feels absolutely incredible!
@@SweatyJen Hey Jen, sry for my late reply! I had a sympathectomy :).
@@luminosity108 no problem at all! Thanks for clarifying :D
I cry daily about my sweating feeling so isolated. Having to hide such a random life definitely hard.
I'm sorry Brent, I totally understand how you feel and you're not alone. I'm glad you found my channel, thank you for watching and commenting. I hope you're able to find something to make you feel better soon, my heart goes out to you!!!!
We got this wave of hot weather out of nowhere today and it was like 80 degrees! I noticed my hands were definitely sweating more because of it. Luckily the whole Corona thing has been working to our benefit with no handshakes and social distancing. It makes dealing with the sweating easier because there is less chance it will be noticed by other people.
I know a lot of people have been worried about the virus, but really it has not stressed me out too much. Being a fellow germaphobe I always avoid touching my face, and always wash my hands as soon as I get home, so these habits have not really changed. I just try to keep more of a distance from people now.
It will be interesting to see if things continue like this even after the quarantine time is over. I have a feeling a lot of the new habits and policies will continue such as more people wearing masks and gloves.
A tip for going to the stores, if you go in the off hours such as early morning or later at night there will be less people so it can be a little more relaxing without too many people crowding around. Good luck on the yogurt next time!
Hey!! I'm definitely guilty of going to the store during busy times, I'll make sure to go at a more oddball time in the future to avoid feeling that level of anxiety again, thank you for the tip!
One change I hope continues is the amount of jobs able to work remotely. I think it's been really cool to see people be able to work from home and it would be wonderful to work remotely with hyperhidrosis. The pressure of people noticing our sweat would be minimized so much, and that would be amazing!
Thanks for watching collective! I'm sad and happy to hear I'm not the only one feeling the consequences of the weather heating up already, maybe it's the humidity? I feel really sweaty today even though it's much cooler outside.
Hope you're having a nice morning :)
I stopped drinking coffee because of the caffeine. I found it made my hyperhidrosis worse. Well I'm convinced it does but its hard to tell cause its so bad to begin with.
Haha, exactly! It's definitely hard to tell what is actually causing the sweating... one of life's many mysteries lol. I love coffee too much but if/when I quit I'm going to document any changes I notice with my hyperhidrosis! I
Ironically another thing that makes it worse is anxiety medication. The only time a ever stopped sweating before was when I was sleeping. However a side effect of my medication is sleep sweating. The joys...
@@jakethesnake9433 Jake the snake I have heard many times that antidepressants can cause/increase sweating! It's very interesting, I wonder why that is?!
Sorry you are having such persistent sweating :( it's so uncomfortable
@@SweatyJen my actually reduces it a bit
Do you think HH can get worse as we get older or better?
