I put mine on a minibike and its awesome. You can use the decompression lever to shut it off it it runs away. Yes its only 3hp but it has 15 to 18 lbs of torque. Gear it high and it will roll coal nicely during acceleration.
I bought mine on amazon. It has been on a go kart, gen set, and is currently on a minibike. I’ve got just under 4k hard hours on it and it has been the best small engine I’ve ever owned!!! Unfortunately it just popped the head gasket the other day but I ordered a new copper head gasket which should be here soon. I relapped the valves while I was in there. Cylinder and piston looked great!
Situan Sifa MB168F. Mine has 25 break in hours. One inch pulleys fit perfectly, because I bought the 3mirrors stainless steel sleeve with key and honed the inside from .750 to .787 inch. If you hack the crank down to .750, it will never stop twisting loose. I put a 1 inch center 7 inch diameter pulley on for a slower generator. Mounting? The diesel hates steel projects. A plate aluminum base will hold it solid and you have to shorten at least one of the 3/8 fine thread bolts you buy. I finally settled on a sandwich of plate aluminum, 1 inch wood, and plate aluminum on the bottom. 15W40 diesel oil. Consumption will be high especially for the first 20 hours. I screwed the governor bolt in 5 turns and locked it. I don't want it turning way fast. It also suffers if you keep it at a very low idle. A GM Delco 10si alternator is perfect for my plan. You generally want to use a diesel at 1/3 to 1/2 maximum output. Mismounting the base means eroding the hollow feet and possibly snapping one off. I don't put anything but pump diesel in it and super clean. Cold start? No ether. A kettle of hot water poured right on the injector base. Your kid now has a precious engine. These are no joke.
Yah the waste oil ones all seem to lack follow up videos. Just like all the diesel heater videos that show it working but not a one month follow up of when it kills it.
In my area the cost difference is about $4 a tank. The problem is the only all day fill location near me I would burn that in gas to drive to and back. Yes for next winter I need to stock pile a group of tanks to take in.
That's exactly how I sound...LOL Hang on...that thing can turn at "gasoline" RPM's but has MUCH more torque My son put one on his riding mower after he reamed out the pulley to fit the shaft, in 5th gear, it will lift the front wheels off the ground and take off like a scalded ape! I got one of the manual "crank" pulleys and an electric start in, gonna have to figure out how to get it on these little beasts Woohoo...rolling coal! Keep em coming!!!!
Not to mention, those prefilled bottles are only 3/4 filled. Read the labels, a 20lb cylinder states it's only filled with 15lbs of propane. That's where the get you again.
I'm angry, those diesels in USA are available for ~200$ from Amazon or Aliexpress, in Europe are unavailable completly, or from China for 250$ with shipment for another 200$... Its terrible that those small engines are unavailable or way more expensive. I know that many people would love to have those small cheap diesels, I have at least two projects for those.
When I read comments on anyone’s video. That is the voice I hear in my head
Me to! Especially the Diesel ones LOL
@@redneckcomputergeek 3hp DiEsEl EnGiNe !!!
@@redneckcomputergeek 1 push red lever 2 pull it like a bitch

Can't wait to see what you put it on thank you for the video John did blend in with the garage door
It is better to shut it of by releasing the throttle, other wise you'll clog up the air filter with soot!
Hi from up in the county! Glad to have found you guys. Thanks for sharing! 2 days for shipping here is outstanding! lol
I was absolutely expecting a foam packing with numerous pieces broken...I am pleasantly surprised...
You and me both!
Haha ,that's a nice lil wooden box , put a little soft cushion on top for the but-ox and you've got storage inside for some tools.

how did you calculate 4k hours?
I like how they have the bald man starting it in the instructions.
1:21 a literal "crate engine" 😂
Please turn that minibike into a three wheeler to give john duallies :)
I forgot to say : Diesels need Zinc oil, or the additive.
that's not true, modern diesels are designed to be fine without it.
Keeping with the Dodge theme. Needs a lift kit!
And hockey puck cab lift
Mechanical diesels use a fuel shut off to stop the engine. Put your throttle stop release on the handlebars beside the throttle control.
i really wanna see it on a mud mower chassis and maybe you could make a small diesel eater 2.0?

I think it would be perfect for something with wheels. You're welcome. :)
Fuel filter looks like it is on backwards.
Isn't that filter on backwards?
I think you should put a 3hp diesel in it.
I’ve been thinking of getting one of these for a wheelhorse that already has a predator on it but these just seem like they are underpowered.
isnt that fuel filter on backwards?.. but then again doesnt really matter tho
Some people did videos on running different types of fuels in this engine
Yah the waste oil ones all seem to lack follow up videos. Just like all the diesel heater videos that show it working but not a one month follow up of when it kills it.
@redneckcomputergeek you got that right about no follow up videos on using other types of fuels in the diesel engine
The worst was dirty abrasive motor oil.
@stanleybest8833 ouch 😳 that is not a great idea to do that
I want to eventually diesel swap a John Deere 212 with one of those 10hp diesels
It's cheaper to get tanks refilled than exchanging them!!!

Screw the diesel, put a hemi in it
The compression release can be used to shut it off in an emergency but it also clogs up the air filter with soot
You guy will figure something out for that engine.
There is a 20 MM clutch sold.
Ive been wondering how the quality of these are for a few years...
That's exactly how I sound...LOL

Sweet!
Put a cvt on it 😊
You are spending almost double for your propane dude, go get them filled for like $15 per 20lb cylinder
Not to mention, those prefilled bottles are only 3/4 filled. Read the labels, a 20lb cylinder states it's only filled with 15lbs of propane. That's where the get you again.
@a-k-jun-1 exactly, so it really is double the cost.

a doorstop, maybe a table leg leveler?
Haha I just got the 10 hp one
❤👀👍
We used to run the engine and putting a file on the shaft.
Dodge Power Wheels dually
We have debated that idea a bit.
