    I’ve had a similar situation to you. Commercial photographer for 22 years, which I mainly shoot Canon for work, bought a Q2 as a personal camera 2 years ago, but 28mm isn’t really my focal length, recently sold the Q2 and bought an SL2s body, and managed to find the 35 & 75mm APO’s second hand. Love the files from this set up, and now I find myself taking it to work alongside the Canon’s.

    i got the 35mm f2 from sigma, which is so incredibly compact AND has a aperture ring (which i adore). the 50 sl summicron is great too though. f2 but such great micro contrast.

    • @ToddBrownPhoto
      @ToddBrownPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh nice! I will check that out online right now. I would love an aperture ring! and a smaller lens. How do you find it in comparison to the sharpness of the 50 SL Summicron?

    I went to the camera store in Austin, Texas to buy the Leica 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for my Panasonic S5II. It was still there so I bought it than they showed me the 90-280mm f/2.8-4. It worked on my S5II and I was blown away with the sharpness and reach of both lenses had. Than they showed me the Leica SL2-S. Do I need to say anything more? Cheers!

  • @HatefYaminiOnline
    @HatefYaminiOnline ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice to see you doing Leica videos Todd. Welcome! Can’t wait to see your work, especially from Thailand. Are you sure it’s sharper than the Q2 lens? That would be amazing. I also made the switch from Q to SL and for the same reasons as you.

    • @ToddBrownPhoto
      @ToddBrownPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hatef! Great to hear from you and thank you for the comment! I would say it is equally as sharp to my eye as the Q2. And my unscientific metric more or less is comparing it to all my Sony and Nikon and Canon glass over the years, and the 35mm f2 ASPH, performed similar to the Q2, that being it was sharper than other the others. How are you liking it? Which lens or lenses do you have with the SL?

  • @RandumbTech

    I made the mistake of buying a Q2 as well - worse decision I’ve ever made. Now I want to sell all of my Sony gear for Leica. How do you find the SL2S? Can u live with a non articulating screen?

    • @ToddBrownPhoto
      @ToddBrownPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      hahahha, that is exactly what I experienced. I think the trade-off for stills is worth it. The Sony's are just smarter and the bodies work better, however..as I think you agree, the images just dont look as wonderful as the Leica. :)

  • @TsingLam-j6s

    hi Todd Brown, thank you for your sharing.
    Saw some places you shot were very dusty, just want to know how do you keep your gears clean. For the most important part, the sensor. How to do that? Do you have any recommendations??
    Since I’m also using the SL2S and I’m wondering how to keep it clean or how to clean the sensor.
    Thanks!!

    • @ToddBrownPhoto
      @ToddBrownPhoto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      sure, a few, so...I know it is difficult, but try your best to not change lenses while out in the elements. If changing a lens, point the camera down. Always have one of those little blowers with you so when you change you can blow the sensor with it and the glass on the inside part of the lens.

    Very entertaining, Pal! No way in hell I can pay 10 Large for that camera and lens. I'd LOVE to own a Leica but as a hobbiest I just can't justify it. I'll just stick with my Z6. :-)

    Hi. Nice video… I am a convinced user of the M System, digital & film. Also have Nikon Z & D camera… but I am thinking to switch to like SL as I like the industrial design and it’s haptics. As I normally shoot with two lenses only, 28/ 90, that would be the great challenge… let’s see, … and concerning sharpness: as I was a user of Fuji X cameras but literally repelled by the sterile sharpness of the outcomes I do not want to go back there. Sold it all. Hope the SL’s sharpness is different, more pleasing. I don’t like this over sharp unreal photos. They may be needed for technical/ medical documentation but otherwise? Unpleasant!

    Basically Leica SL and others cameras brand like sony , canon and nikon not much different . The real Leica is the M system . Leica stand for manual range finder , simple operated. SL just like any others , a computer camera . I sold my SL after a while , lots interested and go back to Leica traditional M system .
